There are currencies with a private blockchain and coin-tumblers. You can have the digital equivalent of cash but banks probably won't do it because of KYS or whatever.

That is mostly the same thing. Cash is something you can have in your hand. Or mattress or burried in garden either way it is in your posession. Anything digital may not be always accessible or available. World will never get rid of cash.

If you have cash, you have a tradable item. You own your money. If you don't have cash, you are just digits on a screen, that are essentially owned by a bank.

Can't beat the old roll of notes.

Fist of cash is the only man for Done Deal.

I am not in the least afraid of death.

I am terrified of pain and suffering if I was like that I would rather go quick and I am not joking.

Anybody else think a full lockdown is on cards?
191 new cases today, and emergency rule is being passed tomorrow?

Cash is also just a digit on a central bank screen. cf revaluation, or more traditionally coin-clipping.

Drink every time someone says "full lockdown".

They would need to release all prisoners to make room for those they would need to lock up.

    Please tell me you're joking?

Paper cash is just a receipt of what you have in your bank account no more. The important tradable item is not the physical cash its whats in your bank account.

I should also have mentioned forged money, that would be eliminated too.

I guess you like to flash the cash Tony? Show them you mean business.

There could be a bank run but I doubt it.
If you're afraid then go to coinbase and then you have at least something other than Euro to use.

It's called helicopter money. It is an alternative to quantitive easing. Interest rates are rock bottom so QE isn't an option.
Handing people money and having them spend it will keep businesses moving, manufacturers producing and people in jobs.

Hong Kong have already carried this out and the Us is strongly considering it .

Why do we all need to work so??

Just hand out money every now and then.

The idea that you need to make a withdrawal of cash to (for example) pay for a car or indeed anything is an idea whose day is almost done.

Cash today is often the preserve of dodgy transactions, criminality, tax evasion or little old grannies who like the feel of a few notes in their purse.

It's horrific, like something out of a video game or a sci-fi movie. Really hope it gets nothing like that here.

There is zero reason to think it will not.

Yes but you can't just print it and hand it out.

No point preaching to the converted here. It should be played to those kids at house parties who think its all a joke.

You can bury 1 bitcoin on a flash drive.
I would be for using cash if it would be made from silver and gold.

sorry re-posting this as it got a bit lost in the ocean of chat earlier no answers....

I'm wondering does anyone know the ballpark turnaround times for testing??
5 days now and still no HSE callback to come to test, anyone know the craic pls?

My sister was diagnosed + referred by GP on Monday morning so nearly 5 days now
apparently as a priority case as there's a child with Down Syndrome (immuno-comprimised) in the house
she's worse now but holding steady at moment, if it goes another level we'll be calling 999
there are 5 of them in lockdown in the house, Dun Laoghaire area

still no HSE call to test

I doublechecked with GP the referral was done

Can anyone give me a steer on the testing timeframes at the moment please? I'm starting to wonder whats going on??

    thanks

The modern equivalent of that is stashing non-fiat across many electronic platforms, the idea being that they'll hardly all fail at the same time. Not sure there's much guarantee of that being true anymore though.

I don't watch much tv and from what I've seen on the news reports its basically relaying the numbers and how clean the water is in Venician canals and no reality footage like that link or am I wrong
If I'm right then they do need to start showing it - reality needs to hit home for a lot of people. Those people in the video didn't look old at all
