Jesus Trump is waffling on, he is nearly putting himself asleep... huge amount on dialogue without actually saying anything of importance ... only that it’s a very exciting time for medicine..

Are any of ye taking a 2-3 hour Corona break during the days now? I'm setting aside evenings after 6pm where I won't look at or watch news - just a decompression time from all the stuff going on. I don't think it's healthy for any of us to be following this 24/7 especially with the always on mentality we have these times.

I'm (trying- and sometimes failing) to only look at stuff from 7/8pm onwards when daily numbers are in.

cant watch this 24-7 anymore. too depressing

I'll definitely be seriously impacted financially, was about to start a self-build, so that's out, holidays etc are out for a few years and I'm no spring chicken, possibly lose my job altogether.

All that doesn't change the facts that cannot be denied I'm afraid. I presume you're personally in a low risk bracket. You might feel differently if you were vulnerable to death by this bug or had very close family who were.

I'm guessing the poster is some sort of teenager because they really don't give a **** about this to be honest. No clue of the real world, just brushing this off with "it only kills the old people" bull****.

Why Germany is so good at curing coronavirus, and not so at curing flu ?

Well that solves the mysterious low coronavirus death toll in Germany then

I wish I had your faith.

I wouldn't actually be surprised if he finds a reason to drop out.

I mean, who wants to inherit the mess this is going to leave?

My German isn't the best - does it say 80,000 cases of flu and 130 deaths?

Deaths rise exponentially for coronavirus. They start off small but because of healthcare limitations they rise, except of course you can get on top of it. So far, Germany have something like 1330 cases in the over 60 age group. Still manageable in a country with something like 10,000 ICU beds. multiply that 1330 cases by 10 and you will see deaths rapidly increase.

Deaths will increase in Germany there is no doubt about it. But so far there is no evidence or proof to indicate they've had more than a small number of deaths.

So he is already planting the seed. He will be upset if Chinese scientists were to come up with better treatments or a vaccine for this virus.

Trump is not getting in for a second term, not a fúcking hope once the dust settles on this thing.

The Democrats could put up Bill Cosby and they will win it at a landslide.

Boggles, I wouldnt not be so optimistic on your prediction, I wouldn't be surprised if he got in again for another 4 years, if the economy starts to get on track at any point between now and the election he will get re-elected. but lets wait and see!

Didn’t he try to bribe a german pharmaceutical company a week ago with 1 billion to give the vaccine exclusive to the US?

I assumed a kit had multiple, but not unlimited, uses.

Can anyone with the knowledge answer?

From a report I saw from Italy I think , each Test kit can do 5 or 6 tests..

So , 30k kits might give us about 10/12 days of capacity at 15k tests/day if that's accurate.

Our scientists - great men and women - gave the Chinese government the means to fight the Chinese virus. I am very generous. We knew they couldn't sort it out themselves.

If you've just joined us - welcome to our live coverage of the coronavirus pandemic.

It has been another day of grim statistics and images as the virus spreads in Europe: Spain saw 209 deaths in just 24 hours while reports from a town in Italy suggest the army is now being used to ferry the coffins of the dead, there are so many.

Yes but EU granted ~€80M, and the then chairman who had spoken with Trump 'resigned', and the founder is back in control.

It should definitely bother us whether or not Germany does a good job at containing this. The capacity of Germany to deal with the disease determines when others can freely travel to and from that country. It's way more important for us in relation to the UK, but Germany is pretty close as well.
    Yes.
Especially because Germany initially assumed they had fully contained the Bavaria outbreak in January - but now we know they didn't.

Research has established the samples from Italy are all related to Bavaria Patient 1 (shortened in BavPat1), who was infected by a colleague from China.

also when googling that guy, he is massive critic of the global response to H1N1 (and which most people actually do agree the world went completely overboard on a disease less harmful than the regular flu). so you can see why he's skeptical of this one.

but he's being willfully ignorant of certain facts, and perhaps supported by his own country's figures which do not match up at all with the rest of the world.

The economy could take years to get anyway near the track again let alone back on it.

When this gets bad and it will, people will be looking for answers and someone to blame.

He is culpable, it was only last week congress had to force him to take 8 billion to fight this thing, he only wanted 1, claiming it was an over blown and no worse than the flu.

He has acted like a conspiracy theorist up until a few days ago, this isn't raw dogging a porn star, he could potentially be killing many of his own base because of his own vanity.

Generally agree, but the real long term impact on us will be contraction of German markets, and the EU wide impact of Germany falling into recession.
