104 UK deaths according to SKY.
    32 today.

hitting that take-off curve, similar to Italy.

Distribution of laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the EU/EEA and the UK, as of 18 March 2020

    novel-coronavirus-cases-EU-UK-2020-03-18.png?itok=beRCcPV_

The daily reported case numbers from Europe at 08:00 am today.

The trend in the barchart seems more linear than exponential, but that may be wishful thinking.

Perhaps the mitigation efforts are showing... time will tell.

Our government tell us all to isolate but refuse to ban flights from London where CV will soon be rampant.

Makes you wonder why we bother isolating and practicing social isolation if our government couldn't be bothered to do their bit.

Daily HSE briefing will be at 5.30 - in terms of whether we'll be under the 30% mark, the overall figure would be 380, and the daily total would be 88.

That's a big jump, I notice that their infection is lower than ours (it maybe that we've been testing more in the last few days) but their death rate is much higher.

Where can we see how many Italy have tested over the past week?

Not sure where you can find the number of people being tested. It would be a useful stat.

The number being confirmed infected has flattened out around 3,500 per day for the last 4 days, so that may be down to limits on numbers being tested or the rate of infections may be slowing down a bit. I suppose we need the actual number of new infections to decrease numerically rather than just as a proportion of overall cases to be sure.

I would say to everyone to avoid your elderly relatives no matter what if at all possible.

Yes, we are getting reports of a whole retirement home getting wiped out in Spain with 15 deaths.

Wonder if it is just proper testing getting into place. The US has started to get it's act together. The cases were already there imo.

Showing how widespread it is over there

The UK are only testing people with severe symptoms.

The death rate is unfortunately following Italy now in terms of daily increases.

    Could be worse.

    Could be Phil Coulter...

You know what the difference between a bull and the Phil Coulter Orchestra is?

A good thing. Have no love for the church but it is something that will help my Granny feel better about it and staying home from mass.

Have I missed something? Is Ireland that far ahead of UK? You've closed schools and pubs, yes. Schools look set to close across UK by Friday. Has Ireland stopped public transport and been as strict as the likes of France?

We need to ban flights coming from the US.

We likely need to ground all civilian air traffic everywhere except for those such as scientists and medics involved in the fight against this. Everyone else is just a potential carrier of the disease and down the road cause countless direct or indirect cases.

We need to take this seriously for the next 3 months if we want to stop our health services becoming overwhelmed.

Not at all. Many people (especially elderly) attend Mass every day and have no way of going to church for the next few weeks.....a lot of them probably don't have internet access.

    2636?

It was about 4,500 2 or three days ago

It was 6,636 on teletext this morning but the article is no longer there
Represents 4.4% of cases tested are positive.

This ratio was at 3.0 % a couple of days ago.

The numbers will be up again today if the mention it in the press conference.

No - 5,000 reportedly tested in last 7 days:

170 countries now have (had) confirmed cases of Covid-19. Not too many left to go!
