The one of the worst symptoms of Covid19 is finding yourself repeatably returning to this thread reading absolute horse sh!te.

I'm simultaneously wondering if I should increase or reduce my anxiety level on the opinion of internet strangers.

Anyway, see you all after Coronation street xox.

Hector reccomends a **** anyway. Might reduce anxiety.

    Blood groups?

People with blood type A might be more vulnerable to the coronavirus, while those with type O blood could be more resistant, (well according to a {small} preliminary study from China)
Type O patients, meanwhile, made up a smaller proportion of both those infected, and killed by the virus.

The sample group was early/small, might be more useful to obtain the latest stats from somewhere on the 200k confirmed cases that are having issues.

Not sure about Rhesus factors, only 15% of folks are 'Rh-negative'.
The Rh-negatives (according to some old folklore) are a 'bit special', but best to view that with a grain or 23, of salt.

Not for long, all those clap-trap, shouty-shouty, shows are to be cancelled.
Even virtual charachters can catch the flu

Expect to see a sudden surge in optimism (esp once EastEnders gets removed from the airwaves), hopefully for months, and months.

"OK Everybodies, I'm wanting you to come outs of your houshes now if you are being 30 years old or lessh"

*Millions of young people emerge from isolation. The virus spreads. The health system is crippled. Many young people are left with long term damage. A few die.*

"Fantashtic work guysh! OK, now lets be seeing all you 30 to 40 year olds!"

It's never going to ****ing work.

Sorry this is no useful addition to the thread but I'm still laughing at the post where the guy was hoping that the testers were disinfecting between testing people.

"Eh Brian, do you think we should be washing our hands between tests? No me neither"

    Thanks for cheering me up.

I wouldn't be surprised if the person who wrote that was the same person referred to earlier by another poster as posting on facebook that those on the dole should get a Covid 19 bonus so that they can by more beer fags toys to keep their children entertained.

Correct, only those affected. I'm sure most who are still working and earning a wage would be happy to continue on paying rather than delaying.

Any idea about people with working hours reduced?

If you are on reduced hours and therefore reduced pay then yes it applies to you so talk to your bank.

at what stage did you call the Dr to arrange test for your daughter ?
I have noticed mine coughing a lot today sounds like a dry cough she is not complaining actually does not seem to realise she is coughing. We have been at home since last Thursday so basically in self isolation but I was not planning on calling the Dr unless she feels unwell is that the right thing to do ?

Call the doctor and let him/her decide what to do or what advice to offer. Don't look for medical advice here.

This 'staged clampdown' crap came from the same 'modeling' which produced the 'herd immunity' discredited nonsense ?

The notion that you can control the exponential spread of a new virus, seems to me like wishful thinking. So much is still unknown about this virus, not to mention what may happen if there are mutations.

Also without knowing if there are issues for people who get it, means it’s a bad idea to allow mass infection.

Herd immunity has been suspended because most experts are in the pocket of big pharma. They want us to sit around for 18 months so none of us have any immunity to it and then they'll sell their vaccine to the entire planet.

Unchecked, 10% of positive tests require hospitalisation. Actual numbers of infected are believed to be at least 15x higher than positive tests.

So 0.6% of infected require hospitalization. We can identify most of those - elderly, diabetes etc. Put these people in very effective isolation and you can easily reduce the amount of people requiring hospitalisation 10-fold.

Then you let the virus run through the population, 0.06% of infected will require hospitalisation. It won't be all at once, most will recover quickly, we can handle that. 99.94% of infected will get no worse than a flu.

In 6 months time most of us will have caught it. A test to identify if you are immune and non-spreading will be over-the-counter, cheap and widely available. You can begin lifting the isolation one group at a time. They will still need to practice social distancing but their family members can all get a test to see if they are immune and non-spreading. We can wear colored badges to notify others that we are immune.

So most coming out of isolation will not get it. The damage to the economy and daily life will be minimal.
Sorry now like but your figures are based on absolutely nothing.

Yes, you can fill out the Covid-19 form and send it off, it's free post to a PO BOX number, it has the option to fill in loss of hours

Oil prices down to mid twenties a barrel. Could go below 20 dollars for the first time in decades soon. Cheaper diesel petrol and home heating at least.

The text of what the Dutch PM said in announcing the policy is at the link below:

Seems like they are aiming for a middle path between letting it run unchecked and "endlessly trying to stop it" while assuming that their health system can cope with the path they have chosen.

No idea whether it is the right decision, but it does explain why different countries are taking slightly different paths, based on the perceived strength and resilience of their healthcare systems.

This is the approach that makes the most sense to me. It’s all very well locking people in, and trying to completely stop the spread. But what when the lockdown gets released? The virus just bounces straight back.

A lockdown can’t be maintained forever, and this might not subside around the world for months. And it isn’t reasonable to lock people in until a vaccine arrives.....which could be months or years.

It seems no more reckless to me to try to let the virus run its course in a managed way, than to lock everyone inside their houses and hope for the best

Yeah the numbers will probably be 400-500 total after tonight. I don't think they are really that important anymore because they don't give a remotely accurate picture of the spread.

Unless they "granulate" the cases so we can actually see the distribution across the country. But I doubt that's coming tonight seeing as they didn't even bother to do a press conference yesterday. It doesn't seem like the general public are actually very high on Tony's list of properties.

Individual people have different thoughts and understanding in regard to others opinions, but the problem is this... there are some people out there that will do everything in their power to cut you off when they do not like your opinion even when it is truth.

Did HSE advise your daughter and yourself to self-isolation regime from the rest of the family, use separate sets utensils etc. Have you been provided with masks?

Not suggesting above is necessary in your case, just seeking to find out what HSE SOP* is for suspected cases awaiting testing, or waiting for results of tests, as an increasing backlog appears to be building up.

    *standard operating procedure

Still waiting on HSE contact with our test, so nothing provided at all. And yes we were advised to try self isolate the both of us away from the others and we were really trying hard last week, she slept in with me and we used the en suite, tried as much as possible to keep the older pair at a distance and stop physical contact, but it was just too stressful on them. Older ones were more afraid and stressed without hugs and the wee one was devastated to be 'left out' and wanted her Daddy to tuck her in to bed.. her own pink bed :D, and sure small houses in Dublin there's not really much room to spread out that much.

In the end the kids got up and were playing together in the morning :o and sure they live in a pile up all the time, and were like that while the symptoms were developing. So for everyones emotional well being we just decided to relent and suppose that they'd already been exposed. Trying to keep some distance to himself so he can keep working from home and manage mealtimes and such, being careful about hot cycle on dishwasher and washing machine, antibacterial spray and wipes and lots of cough hygiene. It was just too much for us to maintain full isolation.

Yes I'm sure they're loving every minute of a pandemic that could completely cripple our health services and crash the economy. Fun times.

No. They looked scared shítless at times.

Nobody is enjoying this. The madness prevailing in the background is unknown to the general public.

The "fun" hasn't even started yet. Wait until the numbers skyrocket and people are shacked up in field hospitals.
