Nothing to suggest immunity after you've recovered. A woman in South Korea has had it twice.

that isn't consensus, suggestion is they hadn't cleared it first time round. that question will answer itself in 3 to 6 months

I watched uk news last night where they spoke of a report which said in best case scenario deaths in uk will be 250 thousand, have these projections been done for Ireland?

    I was reading this earlier!

The UKs analysis of numbers etc which lead them to the idea of "herd immunity" was based on models of the wrong virus.

When they corrected this they reached the conclusion that following their "herd immunity" plans would lead to the deaths of 250k.

They seem to be moving away from the herd immunity idea now .

Nothing to suggest she has had it twice either. Like the question of immunity that is unknown but they do know that contracting other viruses confers immunity after recovery.

No she didn't, she had a relapse after not recovering fully the first time.

Trump starting the blame game "Chinese virus", diplomats jumping on the subject of too much dependency on China etc which is probably true but still, Capitalism lives!! Conspiracy theorists will be loving this.

Apologies if I missed an answer already but has anyone thoughts on this?

It won't do you any harm. Put it like that.

But, this is transferred primarily trough water droplets in people's breath.

Have other countries banned trade with China until they shut everything and anything that could have been the source of this?

Pascal Donaghue- this is the new normal

Silly thing to say, if he said it, the Virus will eventually burn out one way or another, we should expect treatments for it quite soon and then a vaccine next year

I'm more concerned about passing it on than getting it myself. I won't so. Thanks.

Should I be worried that my housemates in the room below me have developed a nasty cough in the past day or 2?

Talked to a contact in Xiamen today. 0 cases and 0 deaths so they're finally seeing the other side hopefully and they had to deal with something they didn't even know existed. We at least got a heads up. Be interesting to see if that stays as it is.

Honestly, I don't know why this is causing such a meltdown. He's an English doctor, that lives and works in England. Why should he know the ins and outs of the Irish medical system?

He made a mistake in a comment he made. Everyone needs to get over it. It's not important.

They don't care about who's leaving.

As for who it is. Nobody can say. But, there must still be some folk who want to go home, I spose.

If only you read my question properly.

It makes no odds, wash your hands or give them a squirt of sanatizer after, you can't touch your face or eyes with gloves on either. They say a facemask is no use but a facemask and shades would be more useful than gloves.

Unless you're above 60 or have unlying conditions I would say no.

I came across something about that in China where they suggested that 14% had tested positive again on leaving hospital.

If you don’t know what you’re talking about, don’t say it. Especially if you’re on the TV when you’re saying it.

Only if it's dry, as in it doesn't produce anything.

Trump starting the blame game "Chinese virus", diplomats jumping on the subject of too much dependency on China etc which is probably true but still, Capitalism lives!! Conspiracy theorists will be loving this.

Well it is the Chinese virus. The second Chinese virus, after SARS. Both times created due to the disgusting wet markets which should be burned to the ground. Both times likely due to the sale of wild animals for food.

This time it was either from bats (which only idiots would mix near food, let alone eat) or from Pangolins (which are endangered due to some voodoo traditional medicine crap).

The Chinese government also tried to initially cover it up and arrested the whistleblower.

But Trump can't use this as an excuse. Covid-19 coming to America is 100% on him, placing business before the public was entirely his position, the lack of prepardness and slow response, both due to his negligence.

China has done a great job in combating the outbreak. They created the virus, but they are part of the solution. Although Europe and America didn't start this, it does not mean they don't bear responsibility.

Some of the research, from what I've read, is also into possible treatments that can prevent it going severe but also early days on that. There's one approach in Australia, which apparently kills the virus dead in the lab but needs to get clinical trials going.

Like the malaria tablet and the remdesivir. They sound like they are possible treatments for acute cases from what I have read. Are they being looked at in Ireland as possible treatments?

This I would be more on the side of it hadnt been detectable near the end of the first Illness because it was In Her system In Such small amounts and then started to multiply again , just like HIV patients who are on meds they can’t even pass it on if it’s well controlled but if they were to stop taking their meds ...

Wet markets were already illegal but not enforced i think we can rest assured these type of markets days are now numbered along with the folks who operated them, should they still be alive!

well yes, were going to see it widespread, tell them from a distance to self isolate and i would advise you to do the same.

Whatever that was, I had it too. It was a scary enough thing that I’d never had before. I couldn’t even pinpoint a date. It was between mid January and the first week in February. The worst symptoms lasted maybe 3 days. I just couldn’t breath properly.

I had some weird thing too, I can pinpoint it to being the 27th of January, was sick enough to leave work early, I haven't been sick from work in years or left early, went straight to bed and was fine the next day, had a bad flu once like twenty years ago and it was similar, headache, achey body, chills and hot, but I was really nauseous with this, wasn't making me breath too bad but my brain was telling me to exhale differently to make me feel better, this was slight but I was doing it, could probably have been any bug but it was weird, if it was early corona virus going around then it would mean people can get sick on initial contact and that the hibernation period is more like between one and three months.

No its not, it'll pass and the world will hopefully learn from this. ( China close those wet markets!!)

We won’t be allowed to touch each other in ways we used to he means
