I watched uk news last night where they spoke of a report which said in best case scenario deaths in uk will be 250 thousand, have these projections been done for Ireland?

They said last night they are not classing supermarkets as indoor confined spaces so no limits on numbers for the moment, but people are getting it, I went to B&Q last night and my mother accidentally bumped into a gentleman I didnt know if he was gona break down in tears or punch her over it!!

Yes I was in small local supermarket yesterday which was not too busy, and saw 2 guys have a shouting match about keeping distance. Now, it was frightening for the rest of us, I understand we’re all terrified but there’s no need to be aggressive. I can understand why the new Garda policing unit is needed.

Dont think that was best case scenario but rather if they kept on the herd immunity approach.

    what news outlet was that?

That figure would have the real possibility to spark civil unrest in england.

Thank you. Is there a breakdown of what people with coronavirus are actually dying from? Are most dying from pneumonia/ heart failure? If many are dying from pneumonia- would pneumonia vaccine help protect people?

I don’t know I’ve not seen a breakdown. From Italy they develop bilateral interstitial pneumonia I believe. That has its own back story and you’d wonder about outcomes longer term for people who need ventilation.

Doctor Hilary Jones was refering to GP visits not being free, and that we don't have the NHS here in the ROI.

Close retail and you will dump a **** load onto the welfare bill, reduce our income tax take, vat take. We can not fight this virus without resources.

Indeed but we cannot fight this virus with our health service overwhelmed all at once either. Hence the conundrum.

He meant that Ireland had a more private based system. Which compared to the NHS is the case.

Not the best choice of words

    He wasn't being pejorative

Based on recent results at the ballet box. A lot of Irish people agree with him.

Where are all the saints now, we still celebrate this one for driving snakes out of Ireland, we need one to emerge from the shadows and drive out the virus.

I was in Lidl after work last night and while it was quiet and i only had a small basket , a rather large stressed woman dumped a trolley load of shopping right behind me and bumped into me a few times while doing so ! There was no need as the cashiers were all free.

I then went to top up my gas in local newsagent , I was the only Customer until a man came in behind me , picked up a bar or chocolate then almost stood on top of me !! Even without Coronavirus it was far too close ! I turned around and glared at him and he moved back one step

Maybe people just aren’t thinking ........

Doctor Hilary Jones was refering to GP visits not being free, and that we don't have the NHS here in the ROI.

This has to be explained to UK citizens. The concept of opening your purse and paying the GP for a consultation is totally outside of their mental capacity. Private medicine is for very rich people who don’t mix with the likes of you and me. They also expect to be offered a choice of hospitals at which to get outpatients treatment or elective surgeries. Likewise the concept of there being no public transport. They expect there to be buses and trains to get to the appointment.
My aunt lives in sheltered accommodation in Hendon and she would need 2 buses to get to the hospital of her choice for her cardiac appointments so the LA pay for a taxi to fetch her and bring her back.

At my local Tesco, they have a line on the ground at the checkout than you can't pass until the person infront has paid and moved on. Have seem a few photos on the Twitter of signs outside Supervalus saying they will be limiting the numbers of people inside.

They’re doing this in Phibsboro Tesco and fair play to the staff who are being very forceful about it with customers.

Pneumonia is a manifestation of viral, bacterial or fungal infection when a pathogen infects lungs. As such, there is no some general pneumonia vaccine.
A vaccine must target specific pathogen. If it is bacterial or fungal they would treat you with targeted medicine. There is nothing that is working on Covid-19, at least not 100% confirmed.

Why does it take a crisis like this for the Gardai to set up a full time public order unit?

This is a headline on RTE like it's some cosmic event...
