    It's a very weird time.

We will look back at these times in 20 years on reeling in the years, hopefully. I've been reminded of my parents mortality. I'm so lucky to have reached this age and have both still even partly with me. I cant visit my Dad. Will he know me when I go back? But I'd hate this **** to take one. And delivering 60 dog foods to my Mum and the dogs. In case they get stuck.

I'm thinking ahead for myself and considering what I'd like to do when I dont need to work anymore. And when I'm on my own. The years go fast.

Hope this does not read as a whinge.

Am glad today is over , ended on a brighter note than it started off with though , so all is good :)

Anewme , that definitely didn't sound like a whinge at all .
You said what a lot of people might be thinking imo .

Must have a dose of lunacy...cannot switch off tonight. I was doing a shocking amount of that, Sardonicat. I wonder what I was hoping to find in the past. It wasn't comforting me. Had to pull myself out of that. Easier said than done when the past is the only knowable thing in life, and times are so uncertain now.
My friend's dad's nursing home has closed to all visitors and schools may be closing (?)...wondering how the non-office workers, who can't work at home can stay safe...queer times, said the cat...when the clock fell on it

Sitting in a mall waiting to go to a comedy press conference but feel so sick. My stomach has been dodgy for about 2 weeks now but trying not to boke is a new level. Sipping diet 7up coz it usually helps but not so far.

Was not thinking I had the dreaded virus until I saw some updated symptoms and now worry I may have been spreading it like glitter.

Like Anewme said, am also worried about my parents. Mum has a stent from Angina and dad has an irregular heartbeat so both are vulnerable. Am worried Ireland doesn't seem to have a lid on it yet. Here in Malaysia we have had it fairly soon after China but only have 150 cases approx. I do think the second wave is on its way though.

I worry about getting home if my parents take sick. My bestie works as a nurse in England and was meant to be coming to me on hols in September but she hasn't booked because they got told that if they visit certain countries they have to self-isolate for 2 weeks when they return. Malaysia is on the list yet there are more cases in the UK than here. Go figure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,853 ✭✭✭✭smurfjed

@Witchie, how is Malaysia dealing with this? Were the first cases caught in the airports? So what about subsequent tests, are they doing any?

I really hate to be an a**, but with your nut allergy, you need to get home NOW if you want to be with your family because more and more countries are getting added to various banned lists on a daily basis.

Waking up in a hotel room, this country is slowly closing down, cinemas, schools, gatherings and even KISSING are now closed or banned.

I am convinced this illness has been in the country since around Christmas. There was a rotten flu going at Xmas and everyone seemed to be sick with it. With the amount of Asian tourists we see coming to Ireland, colour me shocked that it only arrived late February. I just don’t buy it. Nobody know what covid19 was then so nobody panicked. I’ve a whole heap of face masks here from work so I’m sharing them out between people that want them and can’t get them. I am not that concerned right now (though I was freaked out last week) but I would be a nervous wreck if my dad was still alive and I hate to think anyone feeling that worry now. I don’t know if it’s worth mentioning but I have arthritis and had to get a pneumonia vaccination before starting my medication. I didn’t even know there was a pneumonia vaccination. If this illness causes regular pneumonia might it be worthwhile for vulnerable/worried people to ask about this? Most people get the flu jab alone but not the pneumonia one, and this lasts for 5 years.

Anyway, en route to work. Nose running.

I actually said the exact same thing to my friends a few days ago.

A couple of them, were very sick, couldn't shift it, couple of courses of antibiotics, chest xrays the lot. I'd say 2 months they were in bits with it.

Early to mid 30's with no underlying conditions and they were knocked out completely by it.

Deskside. Angry (no idea why ).

Today, I have a selection of classical guitar tunes playing, no doubt the neighbours are happier with this choice than my usual :)

Thankfully, feeling no illness... then again, because of my job (working from home) and bascially rarely going out unless it for a pint.. I feel pretty safe from the plague. Hope everyone who is under the weather gets a turn in it today and is bouncing around in time for the weekend! :D

Wasn't there a thread on Boards about a new type of flu?
Tbh I thought the same kind of thing.
I know of several people, all young, who developed pneumonia almost out of nowhere in January and February. It was what they used to call walking pneumonia (viral and they werent receiving treatment) and came under control within a week. In some cases they're feeling unwell again.

Kitchenside sneezing from overnight stove dust and letting pain medication start working. Boring routine I can skip once it gets warmer (heat seems to reduce pain with some conditions...I hate the thought of emigrating but maybe I should try to get to France or Italy eventually! Winters are hard enough, dont know how older people actually tolerate it.).

Just home from a, hospital appointment after my new year surgery, all good, discharged.
Not to many sitting beside, each other in there this morning and a few with masks on, scary place.
Home with a big breakfast roll to eat, Mrs not here or I would be scolded.

In work, about to head back home shortly. Our college is closing down until further notice and no classes will be given over the next two weeks at least. I have a home office and can work on quite a few things from home in any case.

Still a lot of uncertainty out there over where will remain open and what is going to be closed.

They seemed to have a handle on things but now am not so sure. There are about 160 reported cases as of earlier today. Life is going on as normal and the St Patrick's ball is as if an hour ago still going ahead on Saturday. The one feckin year I managed to get a ticket and everyone is trying to sell theirs so there will be hardly anyone there.

I don't know what to do. Part of me wants to go home to make sure my family are ok but I could bring it to them and last place on earth I want to be stuck is in Monaghan with no hospital.

Here there are fantastic hospitals and I am already on the books of a lung specialist at my local hospital.

On top of my allergies I am asthmatic and due to repeated bouts of pneumonia, part of the bottom of my left lung is dead. Shows up black in x-rays.

So if I get it I will probably die. Doesn't help that I read last night that diahorrea can be a sign, something I have had bouts of for 2 weeks not. Add to that my natural body temp is normally around 36.1 (97) while most people's is a bit higher so I have a fever if an over 37 but in scans and to doctors I am ok....

Today going to a press conference my temp was taken. It was 35.7. I just took mine now and it's 37.1.

Am so stressed but think I am better staying here.

Has anyone tried keeping up with the COVID thread, it certainly the fastest thread that I have ever seen on boards.

No tbh, it's kind of upside down with decent info and borderline hysteria well mixed together, don't know about anyone else but my brain is not able for it..

Pornhub is apparently allowing people in Italy watch their premium channels for free, now I wonder if Netflix Amazon etc will follow.

Btw, has anyone got an Italian VPN :):)

At home packing my gear, I'm on standby from tomorrow morning.

Guys, seriously there's a load of rumors about the Defence Forces opening secret locations and all sorts of mad stuff. Don't be believing this crap, and please don't share it on social media. I'm answering calls and texts all day from family and friends as they hear/read things.

If you're concerned about Covid follow government advice re. hand hygiene, social spaces. If its no on the defence forces social platforms we're likely not doing it. Try not panic, and PM me if you hear a rumor which concerns you and I'll try ease your concerns.

Right, going to Lidl to get beer :)
