Just a fever he said with no other apparent complications. Hopefully it turns out that way for the large majority who may catch it.

I think people are starting to lose the run of themselves....again.

You had a point a week ago when everyone was going a bit mad but now one of Europeas largest countries has been completely locked down with cases doubling daily in many european countries, it is a serious and unprecedented situation

How long would the public have to wait? I don't think the govt would try and hide it more so perhaps the family would want to try and keep it private or maybe an autopsy has to be performed?
As soon as all the boxes had been ticked I would say, probably inside a day. There'd be no autopsy as cause of death would be known.

It that not the general consensus, for the vast majority this will be a minor illness. That's not taking away from the dreadful impact it will have on some patients.

I was listening to an item today saying that in some patients, symptoms would be so mild that they wouldn't even be aware they have the virus.

    How's our UK neighbour doing?

Not so bad far as I can see. But maybe like ourselves the worst hasn't hit yet.

We are furthest West, so I would follow UK and take it from there. They had zero, then two or three, and now many cases too.

I find the love for America from Irish strange at times.

Anyone thought about the implications for the EU. Along with Brexit could economic collapse in Italy, perhaps Spain and other countries, along with political turmoil bring the EU down?

Is it still the case that more men than women are becoming seriously ill with this? I know that was the case in China but are we seeing similar in Italy? I think we may have slightly more female cases here in Ireland but obviously that sample size is far, far too small to draw conclusions from.

Latest reports have only the fella from Cork in intensive care - it's why he was moved to the infectious disease unit in the Mater in Dublin.

80% of cases are mild symptoms.

I think I read somewhere that it's because of a large number of male smokers in China as to why the rates were skewed. Not sure if it's true though.

This was before the full lockdown. And if they involve the army with roadblocks and checkpoints, they may have to comply. I wouldn't exclude rioting, though.

Army was already out today in one of those villages that had a prison break, apparently.

I just don't think a 30 minute meeting is that important. It is common for successive US presidents not to even know who the Irish "prime minister" even is. It's embarrassing for us.

I have no doubt that if this meeting stopped, it would have absolutely zero consequences for anyone. It will save the state money.

It's also interesting that the same people who criticise Trump the most are the ones who support this kind of stuff.

    Dig up, dig up.

That country is atypical though, not the norm. More people in Italy have the virus than in the whole of Europe.

Will Eoghan Corry be on with Claire Byrne again this week? Getting his knickers in a knot at the thought of any holiday cancellations or not holding St Patrick's Day parades.
A few days make him look a right tool.

Has Italy published any stats on age, health etc of those who have unfortunately died from the virus?
