Too late to do anything. The genie is unbottled. There will now be a huge cluster in Limerick/ Clare. Most likely some of those 4 people knew they had it in Italy. But still travelled. Cretinous if that's the case.

You have zero evidence for any of this. Pure idle and unhelpful speculation

    Who is Noone?

Senator Catherine. She'd be dim enough and have enough 'notions' to be holidaying in North Italy these days...

Son is in secondary school in Limerick, group returned @8days ago via Milan and returned to school with no restrictions whatsoever.

As I’ve said before: prevent entry for non nationals and non residents who have recently been to Northern Italy, and for nationals and residents make clear to them traveling there is not recommended and they will be subject to extended screening and quarantine when they return. This would greatly reduce importation rates.

I would go further. Form an emergency government immediately and pass legislation that makes non essential travel to or from high risk areas illegal Anyone found to be in violation should be subject to severe penalties.

Re the parade, I doubt many will venture into the city anyway (talking about the biggie in Dubland).

But with my cynical hat on those who must make the decision to cancel, postpone, or go ahead are facing....

    Failte Ireland
    Hotels Federation
    LVA and restaurants
    Sponsors
    etc.

There is also a huge World Irish dancing championship coming up in the Conference Centre with participants and family/supporters from all over the world.

I think another week of multiplying cases will make the decision for them. I think people are getting a bit angry about the dilly dallying going on. We are the citizens of this country and need clear leadership and good communication and want reassurance. It's not happening.

I'm getting a bit antsy myself now, and wasn't that worried up to now.
Spot on. The sinister of health reckons no need to restrict flights

How can they stop them though? Theres no constitutional law to give them that power.

I don't think they can stop flights, but if they said ALL passengers from Milan and Bergamo will be placed into 14 day mandatory quarantine (where I don't know maybe comandeer the show centre in Cloghran and throw a few camp beds in lol), that might make people think.

The Italian connection is quite concerning.

I will give you that one.

Could have passed it to each other on the trip if they're traveling together. Couldn't force me on a plane at gunpoint right now.

The question nobody is asking is how long have these people been home from Italy?....
    3 days?
    10 days ?
    4 weeks?
This is critical yet nobody is asking.....why?

How do you know that the people who need to know this information haven't asked them?

Whether the general public knows this or not is not in the least bit critical.

But any sort of a large crowd would pose a risk in that case. A rugby match, football match, GAA match, race meeting, pop concert, theatre play, you name it.

All I'm reading on boards for the last few days is 'Cancel St Patrick's Day, cancel St Patrick's Day' as if that is somehow the only risk to the nation's health. Does that mean we're all safe on March 18th?

How many Italians go to a GAA match. Not many is my guess. How many go to paddy's day. A **** load. Makes sense to cancel one. Especially now given 100% of our cases were imported from Italy.

Why put back James Bond release? are all films scheduled to be released soon being pushed back 7 months ??

I wonder could the title be seen as bad taste in the current climate.

Studio doesn't want to lose out on box office money as people likely to avoid cinema at the moment, and hoping this will have blown over by the end of the year.

Quick search: Don't see any places in Italy as potential destinations for Shannon airport. Knock airport does fly to Milan.

Just have passport checks. Anyone who has recently been in Italy can be banned from attending any event.

    And so it begins...
Flybe planes 'are impounded at UK airports' and passengers turned away amid fears the ailing airline has collapsed.

They are in a hospital in the west of the country. The blase indifferent ah sure it will grand approach, from the government and health service is pretty scary tbh.

They're not saying that at all, are you listening to what they're advising? Those 4 are in a hospital too, what more do you want them to do with them?

We have a tiny number of cases confirmed and this was to be expected, it’s not the end of the world.

    Do you understand exponential growth?

At one point China had only a handful of cases also. After less than 1,000 cases didn't they go into total shutdown? And even after all of that effort, which we have no hope of emulating, over 80,000 people in China have gotten the virus. It's obviously not the end of the world, but your mindset based on us still only having a handful of cases is pretty silly

So if it is a family then they were obviously holidaying together. I would say it’s most likely that a parent or parents took their non adult children. Therefore there should be a HSE letter to all the parents in their schools and more school closures?

We will surely see a snap of the letters once the other kids parents are contacted.

Might give us more info than ‘the west’ if it happens.
