****en hell China is getting back to work as the virus has decreased.

    This will die out soon.

    Panic stations for 2 cases.

Context... look at the lengths China had to go to to bring about a decrease.

    2 cases can spread exponentially.

Diiference between China and rest of world = time

Some doctors are speculating that Egypt could have as big a problem as Iran

    Are doing anything ?

Probably building an awful lot of new pyramids.

If there is it would be the first hot weather country that a significant outbreak has occurred in. Most egyptian cities are experiencing daily highs near 30C

With only 2 reported cases (1 recovered) - there has been some very unlucky people visiting there to mange to catch the virus

BBC news at 10 had 20mins reporting on Corona.
RTE news just 6 mins at 9pm bulletin.

    Both 30mins news programmes.

    Interesting...

U.K. has more cases therefore it’s bigger news. Simples.

Another Canadian person has become infected after travelling from Egypt. It is the 5th or 6th tourist to contract the infection there. Obviously a very significant undetected outbreak occurring there.

If that's the only illness s/he got while in Egypt, they are so lucky.

It's a hell hole for belly illness and so much more too.

I know this. Was a sufferer despite bringing all the gels and so on and observing all the protocols. Filthy place.

But glad to have gone when I did just the same, it was amazing. But I was quite ill transiting through AMS. Never again.

And it's also a little odd that it's only Italy they want to ban.

France, Germany and Spain are all where Italy was between the 23rd and 24th of February in terms of known cases.

And that's only a part of the story. If shutting down air travel is the way to go, then we have to be honest with our selves. We'd have to shut down basically all commercial air travel.

As worried as I am, I'm not there yet

The whole point is to be proactive not reactive. Once spread within the population begins then stopping travel is much less efficient.

Historically flu activity has peaked at some point between the months of October and February but always tapers off by April.

Will this not still be the case here?

What are you talking about? China has been effectively shutdown for weeks now, if you dont know that you havent watched any news.

What do you want explained about Italy?

She could be next door. Better not to say East anymore now, it is ridiculously vague and leads to so much speculation and worry for many.

What's the point in saying East anyway? I just don't get it.

All things considered, I think the Irish authorities are doing a really good job in managing this.
It's a fact based response to an evolving public health risk.
It looks inevitable that there will be more cases here, maybe many more, over the next few months and all the current efforts are directed at slowing the spread of the virus to a manageable rate.

I think were very fortunate to have only two confirmed cases at this stage, and I'm sure luck as played a part in that, but it's an awful lot worse in other countries right now.

Maybe. Maybe not. You can’t tell with a new novel type of virus. Hopefully.

What a clown. An antivaxxer who slashed the funding to the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention is now surprised that people haven't access to healthcare.

so I am meant to flying to Verona mid April and staying in lake Garda in April. So into Veneto which is now under avoid non essential from DFA.
Will aerlingus give me a refund now? Or do I need to go through travel insurance?

hotel was paid upfront....so I am guessing I can claim on insurance if they won't refund? (They are only willing to move to November for some reason)

Will call Allianz insurance tomorrow obviously to check, but would love a pointer if anyone an idea.
