The UK clearly expects an explosion in cases.

Think it's more about getting out a clear and concise plan as tends to be the way here. Calms things down, not least the markets.

The UK clearly expects an explosion in cases. France and Germany taking their own measures as well.

But incredibly given the figures from northern Italy no discernable travel restrictions.

Crazy isn't it, considering the frivolous (in this context) motivations for much international travel. EU governments seem wedded to free movement come hell or high water...

NHS level 4 is to signify that the system is under pressure.
Wouldn't take much for that to happen there or here for that matter.

Some NHS trusts are almost permanently on level 4. They are that over worked
    Worrying isn't it?

I know, and that’s what I was responding to, the advise to drink hot water to kill the virus.

Fair enough, But as viruses become less viable the greater the temperature ( in the body or outside it) and inactivated after 60C or thereabouts. Also as dry throats are a good breeding ground for viruses too, it makes sense to drink hot drinks regularly. Tea, Coffee hot whiskey are usually over 55C.
    No harm at all.

Apparently in the US you have to pay for your test and your quarantine.

Make of that what you will and its potential consequences.

Italian region of Lombardy bought Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) respirators/ventilators.
Does the HSE have them ?

We only have the CRAP respirators.

I see the Scottish government on Sunday still mention the 15 minute contact thing

"It is important to note that this does not involve people the patient may have passed on the street or in a shop as the risk in these situations is very low. Close contact involves either face to face contact or spending more than 15 minutes within two metres of an infected person."

I am not so sure. This woman was in a lift with the infected pastor of the Church in S Korea for a one minute ride and got infected. Her children, both wearing masks, were not.

Brexiteers will be cock a hoop that EU is not really being proactive in curtailing free movement under Schengen. Neither us here or UK are members of Schengen anyway so that might be a fruitless fight, if they even mention it now.

But then again UK is not banning flights from EU either. Or anywhere else come to think of it. Neither are we.

No need to put republic of in front of it, the name of the state is Ireland.

We can't call it the FREE state again until we're FREE of coronavirus.

Just listening to a scientist on BBC NI who thinks it inevitable UK will have small pockets of outbreaks in coming weeks.

Its not the temp. Its the uv light that kills bacteria and viruses.

I used to work in a salon. Its what they use to sterilize things. You put everything under uv light in a box you usually see them on the wall.

UV light is brilliant for killing bacteria.

Its cloudless days we need with sun.

Oh right. Would bright-but-bracing March/April weather cut it?

He could have pressed the button on the lift, when they got in. When he got out, she may have pressed the button. Then licked her fingers. Idk or ate something or just touched her mouth.

Iranian officials claim British-Iranian dual national has not been affected by coronavirus.

The Iranians are lucky I don't have a big red button that would kill the heads of government, Judiciary and Republican Guard.

I am finding it odd people are not more outraged with this. Its obviously monetarily motivated. Stopping it for a few months or at least curtailing it will probably have to happen at some point.

Countries like UAE and Saudi Arabia are leading by example here. Both taking steps before things get bad, that is the way to go. While here they are waiting till they get out of control before taking any action.

In parts of China elevators have toothpicks that you can pick up(all separated apart to prevent someone contaminating them all)
You can then use that toothpick to press the button and then discard it.

    Genius!

Is it just me or does anyone else think the government/HSE are deliberately keeping the number of tests down in the hope of not actually increasing the number of positive cases? You know the economy and all that...!

It was probably me that did the telling off

But answer a question for me. What possibly could be achieved by trying to avoid identifying actual cases? Do you not realise that to do so simply increases the risks to everyone and would have a much more negative impact on the economy? Basically they would risk it spreading like wildfire and possibly destroying major parts of the economy. What sense would there be in that
