Your posts are a combination of condescending insults and stupidity. A couple of other people have already explained the very simple maths that you got wrong. I hope you aren't really a doctor.

    You are just a cnut.
Fuk you and Luke, two clowns!

I don't want a ban, and I don't want anymore people to die from this in the US, but I have to say if this means Trump has to answer for cutting CDC funding, I'll take that.

    Petty. Very petty

Of course there are far more cases in Ireland than are presently diagnosed. There’s a lag between infection and symptoms.

If that child came back from Italy a week ago we should start seeing the numbers climb in 7 to 14 days from now. By Paddy’s Day we’ll look back on today as a period of calm. People will exaggerate and panic irrespective of scientific evidence and knowledge because many people think with their hindbrains. It is sad but it is what people do.

The US military has lots of interesting research about what happens in societies in crisis. Once the third straight meal is missed order and the veneer of civilisation are lost. There’s lots of interesting reading about what actually happened during Katherina.

By the end of March the sorts of people who are losing the plot here will be losing it in the meat world too because they’ll find every predictable increase in infected numbers to be more proof of conspiracy etc and they’ll be increasingly less rational and societally minded.

Of course, I hope I’m wrong...

P.s. As regards the ‘listen to the man posts” referring to me. Ladies can be Consultants too boys. 😎
Funny enough, because I grew up being dragged to women docs who were relatives, the point in my childhood when I found out men could be doctors too came as quite the shock to me. :D Even today there's a tiny part of me associates doctor with the feminine. Shows how we can be so easily influenced.
Re: immunity. Coronaviruses mutate so rapidly that frequently catching it once doesn’t confer immunity.
The yearly common cold being a perfect example. Though IIRC people tend to get more when younger and as they age tend to get fewer "common colds"?

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

there seems to be a lot of "medical professionals" coming out of the woodwork on anonymous internet forums the last week. even if they are genuine, when it comes to something like this, i'd only value the opinion of virologists or epidemiologists or similar tbh. most GPs here really don't have a clue about pandemic stuff. and the few nurses i've spoken to still seem to think this is the same as the swine flu.

I really cannot understand the logic not including those who have tested positive for the virus (but who may not have gotten sick) in case totals.

For an accurate picture of the rate of infection - it is necessary to include all those diagnosed with the disease.

Tbh the change in calculation is little better than the extremly proscriptive criteria for testing here - which effectively rules out anyone who has not visited an area with an outbreak or been in close contact with someone known to have been Infected.

God help anyone who gets infected but doesn't meet thse specific criteria - as the logic appears to be that it simply couldn't happen ...

Surely for a more accurate death rate it would paint a clearer picture.

We've built up immunity and developed vaccines for the flu, there must be thousands of people that get it that goes unreported every year. And yet the death rate for the flu is relatively high.

Are we blowing this out of all proportions and over reacting

Pretty sure, given the recent locust plague(s) this Pandemic is the start of the actual Tribulation.

Might drive about when it kicks off and throw single slices of bread through front house windows when it kicks off
    - Of the unprepared obese, poor-health riddled majority (you lot), in order to acheive eternal glory and salavation.

    What about those ECMO machines?

Great but limited numbers. The reality is a pandemic means there won’t be enough medical resources to go around anywhere in the world and people who could have been saved will die for lack of these and other resources.

It is unfortunate but it is the objective reality of this situation in every country of the world.

All the more reason for setting up quarantine protocols as has been done in the UK.

The response here to people returning from known areas who may have been infected is a very sad joke tbh.

Do you anticipate things falling apart for awhile here? I mean I thought things could get bad , but not necessarily society breaking bad bad.

Surely with a bit of organization, once people have access to Food, water, electricity and broadband (communication and distraction), there is much less likely to be any post apocalyptic mad max situation developing?

Sometimes I struggle to differentiate between sarcasm and serious on here.
