I don't know if the stats are completely true.

But over 1000 new confirmed cases and 7 deaths in the space of 2 hours.
    An odd 200ish have recovered.

I really cannot understand the logic of not including those who have tested positive for the virus (but who may not have gotten sick) in case totals.

I don’t understand this either. If you only test people who are very ill, all the milder cases aren’t counted and the death rate will look a lot higher? Am I missing something?

    Who? What?
A 14yo and family got advice from a coronavirus helpline to self isolate but seemingly they didn't need to.
It was on the Nolan show, Nolan shouting like the tube he is as per usual.

Do you anticipate things falling apart for awhile here? I mean I thought things could get bad , but not necessarily society breaking bad bad.

Surely with a bit of organization, once people have access to Food, water, electricity and broadband (communication and distraction), there is much less likely to be any post apocalyptic mad max situation developing?

It's not the end of civilisation, it's just going to be a period of pain.

The good news is that we'll be better prepared for the next pandemic. Hopefully.

Think the Iranian leadership has their own problems right now.

I'm surprised by how slowly Japans cases have been growing , theyve just been getting a steady stream of 15-20 cases per day but seemingly no large explosion in cases like in Europe. Very surprising that Hong Kong's cases just stopped too

CNN reporting 6 deaths in Oregon off only 18 confirmed cases

Don't even think Tehran was that ludicrous at the start.

Apologies if it’s been asked before ( can’t keep up with thread) but as this virus seems to be spreading is there any hope that warmer weather. Will help to kill this virus or at least reduce the number of people being infected?

its possible the US is the most infected country in the world right now after china.

They took relatively drastic action in Japan.

They've shut all their schools amongst many other things.

It's also just a photo with no context. Who is to say they are praying about the corona virus.
Given the crack pots Trump is brown nosing, nothing surprises me but I fund it ironic that people who sneer at other stupidity will believe anything on twatter.

What's the latest from our overlords in the HSE?

The threads purported resident HSE consultant reckons its the Spanish flu 2.0 and you're going to see the countries annual death rate increase by about 30% from the virus alone.

I really dont think they have. Compared to China Japan's reaction has been ridiculously relaxed. They are testing a tiny number really so its likely there simply may be many cases not being detected.

I’m wondering if testing is proving to be a massive problem. Either not testing enough and/or not reliable. I mean, let’s say there is an increase in people who are suspected cases, what is the capacity for a country to test all these cases in a speedy fashion? Unless you are increasing lab capacity, at a point you can only test so many in a day. I’m guessing country’s don’t release “suspected” cases or pending test cases but if you were in the medical profession that might give you a better idea of how things really look.
