According to National Geographic it is not certain if the heat will stop the virus. Its too early to say. Its likely but not certain.

And to finish off with cancer ->

    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/health/cancer-rates-here-are-third-highest-in-the-world-warns-who-37366455.html

"Ireland has the third highest rate of cancer in the world - ranked only behind Australia and New Zealand, according to a global report.

Our inactive and unhealthy lifestyle habits along with the ageing population are leaving more people at risk of the disease.

The rate of new cases of cancer in Ireland this year is estimated at 373.7 per 100,000 people"

    https://www.rte.ie/news/business/2019/0805/1067047-risk-report-2019/

It says demographic changes that will see the proportion of the population aged over 65 increase from 1 in 8 in 2019, to 1 in 6 in 2030, and the number of people who are 85 or older will double, creating challenges in several of these areas. These posts were to link Ireland having a higher % of people in the high risk categories (like America). Maybe more care will be taken by the people sniping that it's just a flu.

I would think you will get a fairly generic email covering HSE advice I did (non customer facing in government department).

If you have returned from a covid-19 affected region in the last 14 days or have been in close contact with a confirmed or probable case in the last 14 days, and have symptoms etc etc.

Nothing nada zilch. Myself and another 2 colleagues asked about antibacterial wipes and were told that HQ had ordered hand sanitiser but there’s no sign of it.
When pressed about the antibacterial wipes we were more or less pooh poohed.
This from the admin who is not customer facing herself....

There's almost no hand sanitiser to be had in the country. Most suppliers are only shipping to Healthcare organisations in dispenser refill bags, not bottles or pocket sized containers. Even if you are working in a Healthcare organisation, some supplies are only available for back ordering and there are no delivery estimates.

Ordered some online, due to arrive this week. That's your best bet.

Can we rename the coronavirus to foot and mouth to get a better response from government and the HSE?

Confirmed cases will not be every Tuesday.

I heard them say yesterday a press conference would take place in the evenings around 7 from now on?

I guess that means confirmed cases will be announced at that time.

It's very annoying that most of the Indo's articles on Coronavirus are behind a paywall.

    Good idea.
We should do as we did then

Let’s start by slaughtering all 500 kids at Scoil Cathriona and their families.

is the doubling time still 6 days?

6 days ago there had been 80,000 cases. As of today there have been 88,000 cases. That would make doubling time about 7 weeks. Obviously some places like Italy have been seeing flare ups, but other places have seen slow downs which has balanced that out.

Report it as a health and safety violation. If they don't rectify the situation and you have sick leave to take, get your GP to sign you off with work-related stress (you do not have to disclose the actual medical reason to your employer).

In the meantime, warm water and soap for 20 seconds should clean your hands adequately in the absence of sanitizer. Make sure you limit your interactions to less than 15 minutes and maintain a distance of 2m where possible. Don't touch any surfaces, handles etc with your hand, use your sleeve and then wash the clothes at the end of the day at a high temperature. Don't touch your face at all. Just get out of the habit. If it helps, wear vinyl gloves and change them at regular intervals during the day.

You’re being utterly selfish. Putting you and your community above other, more vulnerable groups. The fact that they can’t deliver til June shows the strain those factories are under; yet you’d rather order them for you and yours (who currently have absolutely no need for them) potentially depriving medical workers, older people and sick people in the process.

But hey, as long as you’re alright Jack.

Give the guy a break it's not as if he is buying up the whole supply globally from the only single supplier in the world and stopping people from getting them.

The fact that they can't deliver until June is most likely that he is not a priority customer and they are dealing with those first.

But never let facts get in the way to jump down someones throat.

What he said was they will confirm the number of people tested each tuesday evening.

They wont give out test numbers in between that.

I heard a journalist ask him when will the figures be updated.

    He said every Tuesday.

She asked for an indication or update to the figures.

    He refused.
