I posted that because in my head it just meant "submissive". I didn't even think about the fact that it's a gay act. I'm sure straight people have anal sex all the time.

    You made a huge mistake.

Never apologise to the perpetually outraged once they smell blood they keep on coming.;)

The great fake Swine epidemic of 2009. :)

That had a pretty low mortality rate and only killed 14 thousand people, but pregnant women were in a particular risk bracket.

Cork GP commenting on the outbreak.
“It is absolutely blown out of proportion. Less people will die in Ireland of the Coronavirus in the next three months than died in traffic accidents over the weekend. There were seven deaths on the roads over the weekend. If we have seven deaths from the Coronavirus, I will be amazed,” he told The Echo.

Yeah there is always one. You've a bigger chance of being hit by a car etc. Its little consolation to those who do contract it or those of us who are an at risk group.

    I'm puzzled Wibbs.

You do or do not want people to buy (effective) face masks? Because on one hand you are worried about face masks running out, but on the other hand you agree that the right type of face masks might be effective.

Surgical and N95 masks are quite effective. Dust masks are absolutely ineffective (apart from discouraging people from touching their own faces).
Surgical masks are NOT effective. They have a utility in people already infected as they limit, but don't remove the spread of live virus in the air. Surgeons wear them to stop any pathogens they have from affecting the patient. N95 masks are better, but again as a limiting agent. In perfect use they filter down to 0.3 microns(IIRC), but the virus is 0.1 in size. Oh and those "dust masks" as you call them have higher filtration than N95, fit far better, last much longer and are reusable for longer and have replaceable flitration. Oh and said filtration is strong enough to stop even many industrial gases from affecting the user. Even the Daily Fail has this info. It would really help if you had more knowledge on such things before typing.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

The only way to do it 100%would be for a country to go in lockdown. That would also have dire consequences

Any face mask, that’s not some sort of old “gas mask”, is only effective in not spreading the virus, if you have it. It won’t stop you from getting it.

The worst part is so much of this “moronic plague” could be contained if people just followed the simple instructions of washing hands, with soap, using sterilise and “self-isolating” if symptoms show.

Instead you’re just seeing “twitter feeds” blaming immigrants and “de gubbermint” and going on about “wot dere not tellin uz”.

Just wash your bloody hands and stop shuffling up to A&E when you’ve got a cold or flu.

We need more “inverted” “commas” they “make” your “points” and “comments” so much “more” relevant.

100 euro worth of a coat so he can look the part and conform to health and safety standards and he’d fire the coat over the hedge when the cameras off

Yes but just think of all the lives saved if everyone freaking out about the virus were to spend that energy on improving their driving!

I never believed a word that Runaways was saying for one minute. Was I the only one?

Given that we are all anonymous here, anyone can say anything, could be true, might not be. That's the reality.

I happen to believe him. So what if he turns out to be a messer, I found his previous posts interesting. A lot of backup documents were posted earlier about his trip to Cambodia. But I suppose they could have been made up. Wonder how easy it is to replicate such a complicated flight pattern. Anyway.

Personally I'd like him to post again, but up to the mods I suppose.

Sorry, that's right, but the dust masks I was talking about are just paper ones.

This so much. I can't understand where peoples manners have gone these days. Nobody uses tissues. Everyone coughing and sneezing into thin air. Spitting on the ground. Coming into work foing the f*cking hero instead of staying at home sick... usually the ones who can very easily be done without. Grown adults not washing hands after going to the bathroom... then coming out touching kettles and door handles and phones etc. Eugh. When the HSE practical guidelines for avoiding the virus read like hygiene lessons for Montessori kids, you know you're living among pigs. People are vile and if they were not so god damed vile this woudknt be spreading so easily.

    Keep it real-

Consider that the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) notes from October 2019 through February 22, 2020 there have been 35 million cases of seasonal influenza, with 300,000 hospitalizations, and approximately 30,000 deaths. According to WHO, through the end of February, 2020, there have been over 85,000 cases of COVID-19 with 2900 resultant deaths. While these estimates are likely to be low, they still pale in comparison to the illness and death caused by the "routine" seasonal influenza. And yet the fear associated with COVID-19 has the potential to acutely cripple life as we know it through its effects on work, healthcare, school, travel, and supply chains.

The fear of covid 19 is filling up those South Korean hospitals (and soon to be stadia) real quick.

Can someone explain schools' obsession with skiing trips? It's ridiculous. Bring them to see some historical sights. What's with all the skiing craic?

It gives teenagers a good opportunity to learn how to ski while also having a good time with their peers.

I really cannot see a problem with this.

many of us were speculating about a bus for the other person when they actually got a taxi, why didn't they say that as soon as they found the taxi man.
The taxi brought them from the airport to Connolly Station.

Yeah let's just ignore the professional.

Lots of people are "professionals" so what. Anyone can come out with that rubbish about how "you have a greater risk of xyz" they're the same as the ones who, no matter what your tragedy will say "oh it could be worse, think of (insert something worse)".

What are Armenia going to do the week after next, or the week after that?
And why stop at schools? Why not business, places of worship, sporting and cultural venues?

Maybe Armenia's 'serious action' is not the model to follow.

    Something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/GVS-Filter-Technology-SPR501-Respirator/dp/B013EBHHH0/ref=pd_sbs_328_4/259-2503604-9134223?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B013EBHHH0&pd_rd_r=6fb59299-8e3a-41f3-8d2f-f64fc2db5585&pd_rd_w=O2bdh&pd_rd_wg=F6dID&pf_rd_p=96cae456-8d7a-4bc1-91c7-9b20b4dfd7c9&pf_rd_r=RZ6B200385NWBDHP17TB&psc=1&refRID=RZ6B200385NWBDHP17TB

The N95 is a P2 mask, as soon as they get damp from your breath they’re pretty useless.

The P3 listed above is cartridge, decent enough mask but the price has rocketed in the last few weeks.

If it takes 14 days to show up in some cases, why only close for a week? Won't that simply leave the outliers to come back to infect and its really just kicking the can down the road.

The amount of contamination from Northern Italy really is extraordinary!!
The only thing that makes sense to me is that the virus is rampant there and much bigger than authorities are saying...
