    Absolute mongos if true.
And people wonder why the HSE only contacted the parents of pupils etc initially?
The kid and his family trial by social media already begun!

Has anyone any information on coronovirus and pregnancy? I've googled but can't find any HSE advice. Looked at some American and Aussie advice but I'm still unsure whether I'm more at risk or not now and what, if any risk, is posed to my unborn baby (I'd be in a low risk group if I wasn't pregnant anyway). Not hugely worried but I am trying to keep myself informed all the same.

Is this what the HSE means by hand washing?

Was going to say "is there anything to be said for another Mass" during this Tribulation,
but the last Pope (Pete the Roman) is currently laid up resting, after having a bad cough for the last few days.

All, there is quite a good reason for the HSE, they’re dealing with sensitive personal data of a minor, which is doubly protected under GDPR. They need to be careful releasing anything that would identify the individual. Legally, private citizens, like the pp, is not so bound.

No one is asking for information on any citizen. And anyone who does, I believe 99% of posters here would rightly agree it's out of bounds.

But I believe most of us want to know the locations to best help efforts of containment. That is all. Nothing else.

    Singapore have an app
    Case X was at location Y on dates 1 & 2.
    Case Z was at location F on dates 3 & 4.

Clear and transparent. For such a high density area, they are doing well to keep it under wraps so far. Being honest with the population is a good thing, it builds up trust and cooperation. No speculation or rumours required.

One case in Ireland and people are loosing their marbles already.

Imagine social media was around when HIV and AIDS started.

One case that caught it in an area that has reported 1700 cases in 1 week, an area we have had people returning from for weeks. Ignoring the reality or facts wont make it go away

Some stats for those who are refusing to accept facts.

    People know those stats.
What about the projected deaths to infections percentages?
Still think it is just the flu?

There are a lot of elderly people who live in Drumcondra do they not have a right to know? I would certainly want to know if a school was closed around the corner from me.

I don't think that's panic inducing but people need some basic information on areas.

Have a look at the curve on the graph for "Total Cases excluding mainland China".

Granted, the numbers are still small but still, the experience in Italy, Germany and France is exponential increased in new cases in recent days. I'm not sure hoping that it's going to suddenly peter out in this part of the world is a sensible strategy.

For what exactly? In locked down Wuhan, a city of many millions nobody starved to death and the shops still had supplies. Do you really think people are going to run out here? Jesus Christ, there's preparation and there's atomic powered hysterical overreaction.

IT's not just about running out... it'about not having to go out to the shops and interact with people if there is a major outbreak. Makes more sense to have enough in to last 2 weeks if you do have to self-isolate.

Those tears could be contagious. You're in more danger than her if she has it, as it effects older people more. You need to make some rules fast. As much as you want to hug and comfort her you simply can't. She'll be fine if she has it, but dam you can't be contracting the virus too, but in saying that you need to live like you have it also. Chances are you must have it if she does. Surely everyone in home needs to start some influenza antiviral medication regardless?

    Not a flu

As far as I remember, Swine Flu was a particular risk in relation to pregnancy, but covid-19 is more for people with underlying conditions like diabetes, asthma, heart disease, or cancer.

Came here to post this. The doomsdayers need to be banned from this thread. Everybody needs to relax. Yes, take precautions especially if you have an underlying condition. But this isn't the end of the world like some here seem to think it will be.

There is even some evidence that the 2% rate is not accurate and this virus is not anymore dangerous than severe seasonal infuenza:
    >On the basis of a case definition requiring a diagnosis of pneumonia, the currently reported case fatality rate is approximately 2%.4 In another article in the Journal, Guan et al.5 report mortality of 1.4% among 1099 patients with laboratory-confirmed Covid-19; these patients had a wide spectrum of disease severity. If one assumes that the number of asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic cases is several times as high as the number of reported cases, the case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%. This suggests that the overall clinical consequences of Covid-19 may ultimately be more akin to those of a severe seasonal influenza (which has a case fatality rate of approximately 0.1%) or a pandemic influenza (similar to those in 1957 and 1968) rather than a disease similar to SARS or MERS, which have had case fatality rates of 9 to 10% and 36%, respectively.2
    >the case fatality rate may be considerably less than 1%.
    https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMe2002387

Still dangerous for certain areas of the population of course, but not world endingly fatal that some seem to think it is.

They are taking advice from the world health organisation.

But of course you know better than all the experts.

You're on boards while the experts are working and dealing with the issue.

But you know better of course.
