I hope the HSE washed their hands properly before sticking their fingers in their ears.

Ah could be worse, across the water the uk has 12 new cases (in the last 24hrs) and they've maybe x10 population density.

Hancock is currently compiling a list of everyone who retired from their NHS,
    - and may give them a wee cheery ring and 'howya' on the dog 'n bone shortly.

Not good news if you're some former part-time (consultant) brain-surgen
    - trying to enjoy a pleasent game of golf-stick-ball down in the sunny Algarve.

One case in Ireland and people are loosing their marbles already.

Imagine social media was around when HIV and AIDS started.

Less than 0.2% of deaths have been from people < 20 years old.
    I mean younger than 65...
It's true kids haven't died (as far as I know) but plenty of others.
Just look at the projected rate of death of people versus common flu it could be possibly 20 times the rate.
Maybe some people are going over the top but look at the number of cases in such a short period of time with no vaccine/cure in sight.

But you are admitting everyone would find out anyway.

    What difference does it make?

So? They tried to hide it. In 2020. They really thought it wouldn't leak or they're still thinking with lawyer's hats and potential claims down the line and it doesn't matter if it leaks once they weren't responsible for it leaking.

And if ESB staff have to work from home it will be as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike.

As an aside, I wonder what effect extremes of temperatures have in the virus. I know it’s theorised that higher temperatures effect it, but what about freezing ones?

See I don't get this. If the supply chains are so crippled that food is that scarce what exactly will keep the electricity grids and power stations going? And keep all that frozen food useful.

Thats why tinned goods are best

Numbers are exploding all across Europe now almost doubled in some countries in a 24 period. The big boys in Europe France, Germany and Italy are all losing the battle.

    This is getting beyond ridiculous.

The Scaremongering and panic has set in.

    Logic is out the window.
+1000. This kinda thing really brings out the blithering idiocy in too damned many. It does show how close the modern civilised world is to crapping itself over little enough. Can you imagine if something like the Plague was on our shores?
    No harm in being prepared.
For what exactly? In locked down Wuhan, a city of many millions nobody starved to death and the shops still had supplies. Do you really think people are going to run out here? Jesus Christ, there's preparation and there's atomic powered hysterical overreaction.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Maybe tell them to start with Greece, a hoard of 30,000 (potentially 4.5m) are inbound from Turkey.

Nothing to see here, just a cold.

You know that if everyone got this the global death toll, judging from current mortality rates posted, we'd be looking at is up to 280 million dead. I mean it's nothing in terms of global population, but still.

This is like saying that the Asian Tsunami of 2004 was just a bit of water (that had 227,898 dead).

I think a moment to remember the whisteblower doctor who brought the coronavirus to light is merited (he died from the virus about a week ago).
