Not sure of the authenticity of this, but looks like a school in Glasnevin has been closed.
A wise old owl sat in an oak
The more he heard, the less he spoke
The less he spoke, the more he heard
Why can't we all be like that wise old bird?

What are you doing to protect her? Ideally you need to self isolate her from everyone in your home, you'll be in danger and everyone else in house will be if you don't. Did they even give her a mask to wear. Even talking can produce tiny bits of spit that can infect you or anyone else she talks directly to.
Make a mask if you have none. Serve her food on disposable plates and cups and dispose of them afterwards. She can't be sharing cutlery until 20 days of isolation are completed. Wipe down every handle every light switch everything that a person touches, taps, remote, toilets ect. She needs to be a prisoner in her own room for her own safety and others unfortunately .GOOD LUCK!

Runways if you happen to see any bright lights don’t go towards them. I repeat DONT go towards them.

I'm not taking it personally. Just it's frustrating to see all the false information posted by certain posters. Realistically, this is becoming more serious, but we all need to realise, it's not the end of the world. People blocking up A+E with sniffles causes delays in treatment. If you are suffering from flu symptoms but not poleaxed by them, it's best to self isolate.

I find all the false information frustrating aswell. But the authories can lead the information narrative if they had more resourves invested in communication.

You can’t just dump up up a website and have a few press conferences and expect everyone else to STFU and wait until they decide to offer up more information. In an age of online communication and instant updates they have been terrible.

She is in the second lowest risk category after under nine.

Best thing for her to do is self isolate

And this is the very reason people find out on a need to know basis.

The HSE are doing the correct thing.

You may not be, but it does genuinely come across that way at times. Not having a go at all btw.

The problem with the self isolation, is the unless the parents do likewise, its majorly flawed. I don't have the letter open in front of me, but don't remember seeing any instruction to that effect.

Do people not realise that unless you have a severe underlying illness or are over the age of 65 the most symptoms you'll get is a cold?

Yes and possibly pass it onto an elderly relative or neighbour.

She's a teenager.....she's probably locking herself in her room & avoiding family mealtimes anyways. Mammy is cleaning up around her....what's the difference?

Literally the exact same as what you could do with the flu. People weren't this scared with ebola ffs. Bit of cop on is needed.

But if I follow this along isn't this becuase the school is closed and in that case the HSE has told said parent and kid and therefore class them as needed to know?

Not true at all many people in that category have reported having a debilitating flu, also as others pointed out catching it is not the worst thing, passing it onto someone in the vulnerable category is the big issue.

People working for the HSE are as about as a reliable source as anyone on this forum, unless they're in a decision making position.

Like all civil service/public service areas, the majority of staff are usually kept on a need to know basis.

Panic sets in when people believe the authorities are not in control (whether that's true or not)

Panic sets in when people believe something is being hidden

Panic sets in when social media is allowed to control the narrative.

The HSE need to be upfront, strong and firm in their communication. Hiding things that cannot stay hidden doesn't fulfil this criteria

Isolate yourself then, just like you should if you get a cold/flu. The scaremongering is ridiculous.
