The snow gets going tonight (Sunday night) in the west with showers widespread and turning to snow elsewhere later in the night.

On Monday more prolonged snow effecting the southern half of the country (perhaps more sleety in some southern counties for a time).

Do you think we will get a snow warning Kermit? Looks borderline sleet for Cork area though the heavy ppn might swing it...

The wind is really wild in Cork city now. Rain not too heavy yet.

After a few hours of calm silence, back to high winds and heavy rain out here.

It's more marginal further south because it's nearer the warm sector of those fronts, could be rain and sleet but probably only for a time.

    Nowcast.

Not sure a warning is warranted just yet.

If I was picking a sweet spot over the next few days I would go with somewhere like Millstreet

Biblical downpours in Limk city. Unreal rain that woke me out of my sleep. Thunder but no lightening. Very gusty with serious blasts of thunder.

Massive crack of thunder just after waking me up in Kildare. Didn’t know what the hell it was

Met Eireann have just updated their text for today and tomorrow. Quite wintry mentions snow lying overnight in the West and North. The cold gets going proper tomorrow though!!

Big flash of lighting over Dublin with a huge bang. South west Dublin 5.30am

We are getting some light show in Newbridge, Kildare. I haven’t seen lightening like this in a long time, even longer if we are only talking about Ireland.

Gfs showing the cold air digging in until around 6am Monday morning, not sure if we'll get snow tonight.

Yeah, add me to the list of people woken by loud cracks of thunder and flashes of lightning.

Heavy rain here in Naas and strong gusts - I'm just glad that I'm not facing a commute into work in this
