Presumably they'll completely bin the league games, playing lads sparingly if they need to keep fitness but otherwise playing fringe players and concentrate fully on the champions cup this year?

While it wont get them in next year, it would be a trophy.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they played out of their skin.
They have zero else to play for

Yeah I've a feeling they'll thump Racing tomorrow

Must be very difficult for the likes of Farrell who has been with the club his whole life and as a guy in his 20s, he made his debut a whopping 12 years ago!

Accepting relegation instead of an audit.
Nothing else needs to be said.

Anyone with a twitter account (I don't) should be getting stuck into Saracen's sponsors online to see if they crack, just to really drive it home.

But more seriously, you'd have to wonder, if it turns out that many of Saracen's squad stays, and they didn't open for an audit, quite how much the players have/will continue to benefit from whatever setup the have going on that isn't within the rules.

Realistically, even though there's no salary cap in the Championship, they're going to have to cut their wage bill by what you would imagine is a significant amount (considering their refusal to open the books) to get back into the Premiership at the end of next season to comply with the cap. Are many players going to want to hang around and help them get promoted to then risk being cut at the end of it all or not re-signed?

I have a feeling money may be hard to come by.
Allianz may not want to be involved in Allianz Park anymore.

Looking at who will jump ship, both Farrell and Itoje are contracted until summer 2022

I dont believe this is relevant.

Most top players are likely to have a relegation release clause.

You would have to wonder about Wray's statement that they'll still be bankrolled by the family trust too.

Add in the tv money and ticket sales drop off and it starts to look like a disaster.

Plus: the players are probably kissing the badge and saying Saracens forever but wait till their agents ring them on Monday for a reality check.

Then Eddie Jones tells them next week that they need to be playing top flight rugby.

    Also from the current regulations:

So by those rules Sarries won't be able to get promoted at the end of next season regardless because they won't have met the salary cap for this season

The England captain and 10 cannot play in the Championship.

    He'll have to go.

Tony Rowe was asked if Sarries titles would be stripped:

"I'm not sure about that. There is still some more to come out and I'm not privy to talk about that at the moment"

Looks like this isn't even the end of it.

    Thats huge if correct.
I mean, I could see a couple starters, some fringe squad players and a few others sticking it out for one season in the Championship, but two seasons? Not a hope.

Only way it could change is if the regulations are changed as part of the salary cap review at the end of this season. And I've a sneaking suspicion that none of the teams will want to remove that clause....

It's all good clean fun really. A chap can't be expected to run a powder blue Bentley without a crust or two to keep the tank filled.

Andy Goode has been relentless on this Saracens story. Hasn’t held back at all despite having a podcast with Jim Hamilton. Speaking of which, it could be fun this week

This is a good thing. Very firm action by prem rugby. Interesting to see how many player take pay cuts and stick around

Chicken and egg thing though, financial doping made them successful and attracted the talent, without the broken salary cap is there a reason to stay with them?

Exactly... they cheated to create the ‘winning’ environment and all that crap

    This could break the club.
Unless cheater in chief opens his pockets to allow them to cull players and take the damage to this year's cap, and bankrolls them for 2 years in Championship

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,867 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

They have played 8 games this season and sit on -7 points.

With 14 games remaining Sarries could get up to 63 points, which in previous seasons has been enough for the semi finals, and they Currently have the players to Achieve it.

It’s possible, unlikely but possible that Sarries could win the league, be relegated and win the champions cup and not be in the competition next year.

J*nes blaming "bile and bitterness" of rival clubs on Twitter.

You really do love to see this kind of piggish behaviour get its comeuppance.

He has jumped ship a while back and at some stage the family will cut its losses Highly likely that someone From outside will buy the club Now and the league would only be delighted for it to happen.

To win every remaining game with a BP?

He's calling people d1ckheads and blocking them straight after. A glorious sight to withhold

Yeah but he'll at least have to make it look like he wanted to stay but had to go.

If they keep their squad, their siege mentality and make sure to skin the Current top 6 teams when they Play in the league then it’s possible.

56points made 4th place last season

    Unlikely but possible.
