    What's unique about that reg?

When I was in the motor trade we'd always register high value cars in Dublin... Easier to sell on with a " D" reg later on... For instance certain hotelier on TV a lot has a 740d with a d reg even though all his businesses are in kerry a KY number on a car like that would make it harder to sell on around the country

I'd assume anyone buying a car new would want it registered in their county, a unique reg costs €1000, you can't have number 1 in Dublin, Cork, Limerick or Waterford.
Your talking about putting Dublin regs on as it's the largest market for resale which makes sense but it has no effect on value, I wouldn't pay any extra for a D reg, tbh since I left Dublin a KY reg wouldn't bother me as you're more chance seeing me in Killarney than Tallaght.
I used to sell cars in Dublin reg was never an issue, they were more concerned about getting finance approval.

I think it's the snobbish effect here in Cork... Can't be driving a KY reg to the local GAA club jasus you'd be ran out of it..
Have to say I'd be fussy about the County plate if was spending big money on Gti or an R
While I'm on here I have a 2005 Red 3dr gti 70k as new condition bought up the North that I drive at the weekends now I drive an avensis during the week and rarely do i have issues on the road but as soon as I'm in the gti drivers react differently to me on the road there either up my rear end or accelerating when I'm overtaking FFS it pisses me off no end.. She's tornado red so that doesn't help... Would not buy a red one again...I Don't drive it on have the 4 year son with me all the time in it.. Just my rant!!!

My 4yr old is faster, faster, go super turbo daddy. I don't have the people driving up my ass problem. Probably shouldn't have let the boys watch blaze so young. There very strict about me putting on my seat belt and two hands on the wheel.

Tornado Red 3 door is a cool car. I'd pick it if I wasn't worried about standing out. It's one of the best colours.

    It wouldn't be a Gti unless it's red & 3dr 😁

It's a credit to the previous owner really and has aged well compared to other cars ... Being 15 years old must be guys on here who were still in the short pants back then. I'm very lucky

Lovely car. Very well kept. I had a 2006 MK5 DSG and it was pretty much the perfect car. I really loved it.

Where did you get the rcd330 if you don’t mind me asking (there is so many sellers on eBay etc) and did they supply a new can gateway? I’ve been toying with upgrading the radio in my own mk5 Gti for a while now.

I purchased it Aliexpress installed it and had the battery drain next morning so instead of changing the canbus there's so many different types and a pain to get at what's worse having gone through fitting you could still have battery drain so I found a guide on how to use a jumper cable in the fuse box connected to a specific fuse (see pic) and it works no battery drain 5 mins job done.

Android auto works great with touch screen and voice controls my phone through Bluetooth works as it should too... You'll have no RDS on radio channels other than that it does it job really well

Cheers thanks for that, did get caught with customs on it?

The jumper looks like a great fix, getting the correct canbus and getting it coded etc was extra work putting me off it too.

Over 10 years driving a diesel finally got me self a beauty. Unfortunately, It's non PP but overall a very good spec.

Was working at the RDS today, there was a 192 red golf R with black prets in the car park. It also had black door handles, didn't know that was a thing.

Well wear, if you haven’t the deal finalised I’d highly recommend opting for the 3 year Das welt warranty. It’s an absolutely brilliant product

Yes I agree. It came with a car for 2 years but I took extra 1. I was driving a bit yesterday evening and what a pleasure for city driving.. This looks like a long term keeper.
