If you go for the reinvestment option, or just do nothing it will be less hassle than having to cash or lodge a cheque. You will get a letter saying you have won, and a new bond in a separate letter.

It will also eliminate the need for the Prize Bond Company having to set aside any more funds for uncashed cheques.

Don’t suppose they will inform holders individually of this change? I have always given PBs as gifts for new babies, FHCs, Confirmations, Christmas, 21sts etc - obviously haven’t got bank details/wouldn’t even remember who I bought for!! I suppose they’ll just have to wait til they win.

The new application form is out. The only sensible option for future gift purchases, would be to choose reinvestment.

Reinvestment makes perfect sense. Especially as Prize Bonds that have been reinvested from a prize win are not subject to be held for a minimum of 90 days and are eligible for repayment to your bank account once issued.

Last time I received a €50 prize cheque (because of an error by state savings) it was a total waste of time getting rid of the thing.

I bought some prize bonds recently and have just received them in the post. Do they send your SSCN shortly afterwards (separately)?

Bought a block of PB's the other week (Online), PB Cert came yesterday and a letter with my SSCN came today.

Not sure why I've only got it sent now despite buying PB's fairly regularly for the last few years.

Nothing here again last Friday. Disappointing return for me this year.

Yes, we bought our Prizebonds 8 weeks ago and SSCN letter arrived this morning too! This is something I was expecting to have received when we initially purchase our PB....

    Why SSCN?

Everything is already linked through PPS.

And we already have an account number!

    A good day for me!

    Winnings on 22nd November 2019 on €109k: €50 X 2 = €100
    Last win on 9th August 2019: €50

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,442 ✭✭✭Hibernicis

    Winnings on 22nd November: €50
    Last win: 11th October 2019: €100 (2x €50)
    Weeks since last win: 6

    2017 (Jul-Dec) - €100k – 7x€50 = €350
    2018 (Jan-Dec) - €200k – 12x€50 = €600
    2019 (Jan-July) - €250k – 19x€50 = €950

Be nice to make it a round thousand by 31st December. That would still be a measly .40%. return for the year.

I’ve got a little over 25k invested, but they’re an accumulation of small bundles since June 2018. Won €50 today for the first time.

Is is possible to request sequential bond numbers?
How are you able to tell when a bond was bought?

    Another €50 today.
