    That's extremely good...

My 1.5 megane is only getting me 6 or 6.1ltr/100km

Yes if I had put it in Eco mode I would of got a bit more as it coast the car a lot when you are not accelerating to save fuel. But really I never use that mode as it’s kind of against what the car is all about.

Obviously on shorter trips and driving it hard it doesn’t do anything close to that. But it still shows on a longer journey driving normal speeds it is capable of achieving decent MPG.

Return trip to Ballinasloe today put no effort into driving economically and was in normal mode not eco or anything just there was a lot of slow Sunday drivers which helped the number. The trip values are very accurate and almost perfectly match the brim method calculation consistently.

Did ya buy any ponies boss?

I averaged 24.9 on Saturday from Kildare to Oughterard to Westport back to Oughterard and then back to Kildare, about a tank and a half.

    Were you in eco mode?

Was actually in beast mode so was delighted with that economy.

3.0 litre six cylinder diesel big saloon here with 317bhp still returning 7.1/l per 100kms on average so no complains here.

280 km out of my 55l tank this week. Around 13mpg.

55 litres costs you about €25?

That's actually not bad going Shane. There was a fair bit of low gear pushing on done. I only averaged 40.1 over 530kms on the same trip.

All things considered it's good going alright, about 2/3 mpg down on my long term average before i reset it that morning. On my last quarter of a tank of the good stuff now before i put i have to put it back to normal mode.

Anybody with a 520d have an issue with opening the boot lid only for water to land in the boot? 151 car, got caught with it this morning, seems like a fairly poor thing to be happening a car of that nature.

Happens on my F30 but not only the boot - when you open the doors water drips on the seats too

Having a ceramic coating only worsens it because the water beads up so there's more of it there to drip.

Can't be dealing with all this metric nonsense

Current running average over about 10 tanks on the computer in the Superb is 49.5 mpg.

Prius on current tank (resets after each fill) running at 54.3.

Not bad for a 10 and 11 year old car.

Quick one on NCT chaps and chappettes.

How fussy are they about the underbody of the car being spotless?
Mine has a bit of road grime, as usual in this weather, but isn't manky.
I was under it servicing it last week and it wasn't caked in ****e or that.

Trying to see if any of the car washes over by Naas do underbody washes, but most don't really say.

In all fairness, they have come a long way to closing the consumption gap between diesel and petrol engined car's, which has to be a good thing. Add to that the (possible ) increase in diesel costs, to bring it more in line with petrol costs in the next budget and it will sway more people toward's petrol car's.

As much CO2 as an 8.2l/100km petrol.

Still cheaper to go diesel though.

In fact, you'd have to get a 6.6L/100km petrol before it would be cheaper to run than the 7.1l/100km diesel.

That 6.6l /100 km petrol would create 15.25kg of CO2.
The 7.1l/100km diesel would create 19kg of CO2.

Tell me again that the green party policies were about decreasing CO2? Or do the figures show they were more about increasing diesel sales to no overall environmental benefit... Hmmmmmm

Cheers folks, I know some can be a bit pissy about the car not being washed, probably only if it looked like you drove across fields to get there though.

Now to see if it'll actually pass on Wednesday.

A drive in the rain (like today) would clean the underside plenty for you if you're driving on tarmac etc (ie actual road).

Yes definitely. Especially if you consider a smaller modern petrol engine 1.0 / 1.4 would be better again on fuel. I can't say I have ever really noticed much of a difference in running costs and I drove diesels for years and switched to petrol in 2016.

Lads, anyone have any experience of these Michelin tyres:

    https://www.camskill.co.uk/m55b0s3843p139493/Michelin_Tyres_Car_Michelin_Primacy_3_ZP_Runflat_-_275_35_RF19_100Y_XL_%28%2A_MOE%29_RFT_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_C_Wet_Grip%3A_A_NoiseClass%3A_2_Noise%3A_71dB

I've had Goodyear Eagle F1s up to now but the prices of them seems to have gone up in recent times and Camskill are giving £20 off a pair of Primacy 3 ZPs at the moment. Also I've usually kept the same brand on both axles up to this point and only recently put new F1s on the front, other than my OCD does anyone see any problems having different paired brands on different axles? The car is a BMW 530d btw.

Price the Goodyear Efficient Grip as well. I recently put a pair on the front of my GTD and they are very good imo, as good as the eagle F1 AS2 or 3 as i've had both before.

The Efficient Grip don't come in XL though in that size run flats. The F10 is a heavy car and I'd prefer to stick with OEM specs.

What was fitted at the factory? Might your warranty or insurance be void if you didn't go with the factory spec?

Ah that rules them out so. The primacy are probably more of an all rounder than the pilot sports, i suspect they would have better longevity too.
