Seen a picture of the new Passat from the front and side anyway it doesn't look that different to the current model didn't see the back of it. I suppose the people that buy Passats probably wouldn't want anything too extreme change wise actually in Ireland anyway most that are company cars anyway I reckon.

It’s only a mid cycle facelift, so I wouldn’t expect anything radical.

Yes I suppose that model has been out since 2015 so they will get another few years out of it before a major change.

Hopefully the first of many days of them going on strike no harm.

It’s funny just because the ‘boom’ is apparently back everyone feels they should go out striking for more money. I don’t have a clue how much the gosafe operators get but it’s not exactly a difficult job.

We had national ‘slow down’ day, so is this national ‘give her welly’ day?

Perfect timing to blow of some steam after 'edward'. Gosafe boys will be getting the OT in to pay for the strike.

I do enjoy these videos from Manchester as the cops still use petrols. Car in the video sounds like an S3 or Golf R.

Used to be the case that they'd drive anything over there, dunno if they still do.

Seen someone try to get away from an unmarked Evo 8 before, didn't work out how they'd hoped.

Thats quite cool. I would like to see how the Gardai would tackle that one in their diesel I40s.

Some serious machines they have and some serious driving skills...

The i40 would be best used as a road block as if it were to try and actually chase it would be left for dust.

Sure if any remember last year in Ashford, Gardai arrive to alarm at Centra as it was been robbed, lads had an S3 and they left them for dust.... They were near the motorway by the time they turned the i40....

They used axes on the cop car 1st though.

....... Obviously a bit smaller and 2 wheels less to drive than your Sorento.

It’s honestly the most devisive thing I’ve ever owned. It’s outrageously competent as an everyday family car, in the UK with its massive network of A roads and motorways I could just turn on the ACC and Lane Guidance and basically just had to keep a hand on the wheel and watch that no one did anything stupid, it did the driving itself. It swallowed all the luggage for a family plus a buggy, travel cot and all the crap travelling with a toddler requires and still returned over 50 mpg while being comfortable and quiet.
......I can totally understand the average motorists apathy to cars :-/

I'd love ACC.... Had a BMW 220i estate over the weekend and it reminded me how dismal normal cruise is.

Safe motoring to you for the next 40k kms :)

Yes it a bad set up we have. The fact if the criminal is in anything more than a mediocre diesel he will be able able to get away from the Gardai in a chase situation no bother at all. If you lived in the UK or a lot of countries in Europe you wouldn’t be as confident about getting away.

Quick one lads, I'm looking for a cheap car for the winter and the budget is showing a lot of cars over 10 years old. I'm having trouble getting a quote for insurance online, any suggestions on companies?

    Axa

If you have another car already insured try Autoline for a classic policy on something older (99ish and older)

15 years is where it gets difficult apparently.

Are you a high risk driver? Never had a car less than 10 years old! My current car is a 2002.

A lot of insurance companies either won't quote, or give a large quote, on older cars, to "encourage" you to buy a newer car.
I used to have awful hassle getting my old 00 A3 insured.

About half the insurance companies wouldn't quote me for 10 year old cars. Went up to about 75% for 15 year old.

Yep, once my 05 A6 hit 11 years old, a lot of companies wouldn't even quote or gave ridiculous figures.

My current 2010 model I figure will have to go early 2021 for the same reason despite still having a lot of life in it, even with 385k km on the clock

Bank of Ireland insurance, extra discount if you have account with them. Fourth year in a row no other company's able to match their quote on my car. :)

My A3 was pushing 500,000km and not a bother on it, but insurance was creeping up near 1500 quid, so had to move on.

I'll be in the same boat with the Mazda around the same time as you.

Not that I know of. Just over 30 with no claims or points. Only had the licence 9 years though.

Anyone have any experience on the the compressor for sale in Lidl today looking to get one for herselfs car as it might get her out of a bind someday.
Changing wheels wouldn't be her thing if I wasn't nearby to do it for her

    Mini Compressor

Wouldn't be her thing as in can't do it, or won't do it?

Compressor won't be much use if she gets a puncture, unless she whips the wheel off to plug it.

Just renewed my policy. 873 for the year fully comp with driving other cars and all the usual extras. Down 200 from last year! Its being going up the last 4 years. Swapped from a 03 1.8td focus to a 1.6 avensis during the summer. I'm 33 with no claims or points or any of that. Thats with Kennco via chill insurance.

Avensis purchase has been all nomics and no banger touch wood. Saving all i can until I get the house bought so it has been a grand job.

Those are pretty generic. They’re useful to have.

Does anyone here know if the 1e engine from an ep80 starlet is interference or noninterference?

    I'm pretty sure it is.

A friend had a 1.0 1e van and the belt broke, the car died. He fitted a new belt but it wouldn't run. Never bothered looking further into it, he scrapped it.
