Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Congratulations! Another December baby?!

Thank you! Yes, although my first came slightly early and was born at the end of November. Due Christmas Day this year!!

My wife is due Christmas Day also!

Apparently only 5% of babies arrive on their due date so chances are neither of us will actually have a Christmas Day baby!!

How is everyone feeling?? Have you all had your 20ish week scan? Mine is next week, I'll be 23 weeks. My bump has popped in the last fortnight into an unmistakable pregnancy tummy, up till then I think it looked questionably like a bit of extra weight! I feel as though the weeks are flying by.

  • Registered Users Posts: 43 LittleMissLogic

I had my scan at 20 weeks. I'm now 24+4 and I'm not sure when my next appointment is supposed to be.
Can anyone tell me what the schedule is supposed to look like?

I think mine was gp at 20 and 24 weeks then hospital 28, 34 weeks with gp in between.

My next hospital appointment is at 28 weeks, they booked it in for me at my last appointment but I think they still send out a letter the week before. Then as far as i remember from last time, there's an appointment at 30 weeks with gp, 32 with hospital and so on every second week until baby arrives. Could be different depending on what hospital you're with though.

I had 20 week and then back in at 24 which i was surprised at. going to GP and then back to hosp at 28. only really going to GP to get my whopping cough vaccine. hospital always gives me new date at the end of each app.

Lads I've had a wee fall. It was on Saturday - and I've felt kicking since then.
The majority of my friends tell me it's fine because I landed on my arse.
One friend though thinks I should try and see my GP.
    Any thoughts?

No harm in nipping into GP if you have the time!

Did you call your hospital? I had was worried about something over the weekend and they brought me in to the labor ward and checked me and baby out no bother. It's worth it for the peace of mind.

12 weeks to go today, and collected a lot of baby stuff from the in-laws at the weekend.
Starting to feel more real now.
Seriously wishing my life away though. If I could skip to the start of November, I would.

Worried about the Trimester 3 fatigue that my wife is going to experience. Trimester 2 has been unreal :D

Had our ante natal class at weekend. lots of info and a bit overwhelming but overall was good. feel more prepared now about the actual birth (still terrified). trying now to decide what co-sleeper to go-im in between the snuzpod and next2me.

I had the next2me with our first and really liked it... will be using it again for sure. I would really recommend reading Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth for giving you a confidence boost for the birth! I also find the gentlebirth app and Facebook page useful.

My wife is at 30 weeks today, and has just started to show signs of the tiredness kicking back in.
Being down to single figure weeks makes it really exciting. Need to start doing whatever I need to do to get Paternity leave at work

How's everyone getting on? We must all be officially in the third trimester by now!

Hi folks. Greetings from the February thread.

My wife is 19 weeks along. She's with the Domino scheme in the Coombe and all going well so far.

She's just been given an appointment for a three hour "preliminary antenatal class" in a few weeks time.

She (well we, but mostly she) are pretty good at reading up on what to do and expect, and we're planning to attend a full day antenatal course organised by the Coombe in January.

She'd prefer not to have to take time off work for this preliminary class in a few weeks time, but she's wondering whether she should.

Have any of you attended one? Did you find it valuable, or is it the sort of thing we can learn ourselves?

    Thanks in advance.

Just reached 33 weeks this morning.
I have my weekly routine, where I watch a weekly update on youtube, and read a week by week break down online for whatever week we're on.
Seems 33 weeks is a decent milestone. Baby is close to, if not at full length. Just going to put on weight/size/fat from now on.
For the first time, my wife started commenting on what might happen if her waters broke now. Think it's getting very real now for us both.
Spent Saturday going through all the bags of baby stuff that we have.

You sound like you're due at a similar time to my wife.
She's due on Dec 2nd. Luckily she's a teacher, so off this week, and then two weeks of work.
She was definitely shattered over the last few weeks. Run down, and unable to sleep.
This week has been a blessing. Sleeping properly, and starting to feel better

Can officially say next month now :D

And if the baby decides to be anyway early, then it will be this month
    :dances:

This definitely seems like the quietest thread in this forum.
My wife hit 37 weeks today, so we're officially full term now. Very excited. Weeks are seriously dragging though. I'm too impatient :D
No doubt she'll go two weeks over now.
Mid-wife thinks that she will go early, but I've heard from many of my friends that they were told the same, and it wasn't the case.

Definitely. People must try to avoid Christmas/December babies. :D

My wife is now at 35 weeks. I think she'd be happy to complete things tomorrow if the little lad played ball. I'm kinda hoping for closer to Christmas, purely for purpose of pooling paternity leave, bank Holidays and some annual leave to have a chunk of time off at the beginning.

Haha, tactical time off has definitely crossed my mind too.
My work will top up my paternity and parental leave, so if the baby plays ball, and arrives on Due date, I will be off from work from December 2nd to Jan 2nd.
That would be extremely helpful in a selfish way, as we're supposed to be getting the keys to our new house in mid-December, and it would allow me to start moving furniture and building flat pack stuff at a more reasonable pace :)

Also, get to spend loads of time with the new baby :D

Hi all, v excited to be on the final countdown now! Just wondering if anyone else has developed a very itchy rash on feet? Has been keeping me awake last few nights. Had a blood test and cholestasis was ruled out. None of the anti itch creams so far have worked though 😩

So bloody impatient. I can only imagine how my wife must be feeling

Four weeks to go here but I'm hoping we'll have our arrival in two or three weeks although that may just be wishful thinking! In major nesting mode now, trying to get the house completely organized. I've a couple of big batch dinners cooked and frozen in portions, found that really useful last time.

I know we're going to regret it, but we dont have any frozen dinners ready.
The hope is that I will be off for the first four weeks, and be the chef during that time.

Anyway, still no movement. Wife is starting to get "period" pains a bit more frequently. I hear that's something.

She wasn't experiencing any movement recently either. Started to get a little worried, but did whatever they had advised at an ante natal class - lie on a side for an hour (or something along those lines), and the movement started again.

Deleted User, an exciting day for you both!

You must be the first couple due in this thread?

I can't imagine what it's like to wake up and think 'today's my due date' it must be surreal...I'd be terrified to move all day!

How is the itch now? I had my twins in dec 2016 but suffered badly with itchy skin. It wasn’t cholestasis and then it was. It was a tough pregnancy all around but that nearly sent me over the edge.

It's gone now thankfully!!! It lasted about a week, and it was a very long week! Thankfully it wasn't cholestasis. In the end calamine lotion was the only thing that gave some relief for it.

    That must be infuriating.
I just don’t get why people would keep ringing and texting a heavily pregnant woman; I mean, it’s not as though you’re going to give birth and not tell them?
It’s something that really bugs me and when my due date comes in Feb, god help anyone that texts me to ask ‘any movement yet?’

Fingers crossed you won’t have to wait the 12 days...imagine how bad the texts/calls will be by that stage!

Hope everyone is doing well. Our daughter is due her four month vaccinations this week but in the current climate the doctors surgery said they are canceled but couldn't give an idea of when or how they will be done. Has anyone had any similar issues? Obviously the focus should be elsewhere at the moment but I'm concerned about it going too long either.

Our little lad is due his in mid April. Which is actually 2 weeks later than it should be, but we had booked to go abroad with him for Easter and at the time doc said it would be better to get them after we were away (cancelled our trip now). Doc didn't seem overly concerned that to delay the vaccines by a couple of weeks, so I wouldn't worry. In any event there's likely to be a risk balance here. Probably best your little girl stays away from a GP surgery at this time.
