That would be quite the revelation-they miss so much trying to capture everything on phone - ah anyway... I’m feeling like Victor Meldrew..! Bah humbug...!

Went to see Prince at the Roundhouse in London five years ago. Phones banned. Older gig goers happy to comply. Security escorted out a couple of younger attendees who tried to film him. Allowed back in 15 mins later after footage wiped and phone temporarily confiscated. Very amusing.

A draconian measure but it worked.

Sure to be in place for Billie Eilish’s next visit.

Yes! I was there. First slot of the day, tiny crowd but the mood in the tent was spot on & he had us in the palm of his hand. Speaking of tiny crowds...one of my favourite ever EP slots was Meilyr Jones in the Cosby Tent in 2016. Like ALT he played to a very small crowd and I stumbled into the tent with a view to giving him five or ten minutes but was utterly captivated. Just a gorgeous set. He had a wander through the crowd during ‘Featured Artist’. Top chamber pop. Anyone else catch him?

Caught him at Field Day that Summer. Very impressive. Not heard of him since.

So this is a lesson on how NOT to run a crowd funding campaign for a festival. Came up as a sponsored ad on FB

    https://www.gofundme.com/f/bring-the-music-back-to-kildare?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet

It's either a scammer or a clueless young lad, or maybe a bit of both. I especially like the 'no refund' part. Could this be considered a form of fraud?

He ain't going to get far with a target of 100,000 Euro, you'd be lucky to get one headliner for that if he's trying to recreate another Oxegen.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Haim interviewed on Lauren Laverne this morning. Very personable and new track sounded good. Was bored by them when they opened Glasto but they owe EP a visit and I'd be happy to give them a look. Cue bass face pics.

If no success leasing Punchestown you could offer the family farm to him for Lisdoonvarna Mark II?

Unlikely as this young fella seems to know even less than I do about running a festival.

Anyway, Lisdoon Mark II will be a boards organized affair!

If he launched it as a 'Bring grammar back to Kildare', I'd consider it. His blurb makes a compelling case for it.

    Anyone seen Stars live? Recommended?

Playing Dublin tomorrow & Galway on Sat. I’m a fan of Broken Social Scene so should be my thing but only know a few tracks.

Haim have a pretty poor track record here, didn't they say "hello London" or "Uk" the last time they played here + they pulled out of EP (2016 I think) with a fairly ****ty reason, would that have any impact on 2020?

Seen them at Glastonbury, they were atrocious live, so bad I actually left for another gig.

Caught them there in 2013 (possibly the opening act on the Fri?), deathly dull but surely they've improved?

Would give them another look at EP.

Anyone seen Digital, a Joy Division covers band? They're doing a free late gig in Sally Longs in Galway tonight so hoping to see the last hour after the Stars gig at the RD. Worth the effort?

Was mixing them up for a moment with Digitalism, who are a German band, did they ever play the Picnic, last active around 2016 so could emerge again. I think they played at RockNess in 2010 sub headlining for Pendulum.

Joy Division covers crew Digital are very good indeed, though the leader singer is leaving to head back to college. Cork band so look out for them if down that way.

Stars excellent - Canadian indie never lets ya down.

Two more on my wish list for EP 2020.

Don't think so, saw them at the Olympia in June last year and they were great.

Aha didn't realise they played here last year, this was much earlier maybe 5 years ago, they did a big apology on Twitter afterwards.
I have to assume they can-will improve, but that Glasto gig was horrible, timing and poor vocals, it was like a bunch of drunken teens took control of the mics.

Would have said the Olympia was a bit small for them.

    Separately Glastonbury increasing 2020 capacity

How about oul Al Doyle just casually mentioning a new LCD Soundsystem album and tour?
    http://submergemag.com/music/hot-chip-and-lcd-soundsystem-al-doyle/
Have you reached a point as a band where it’s like, you’re just gonna do it until someone decides they don’t want to?
Oh we’re probably beyond that already [laughing]. Personally, I always try and think a couple of albums ahead, because I’ll be going straight into the next LCD record as soon as we finish this record cycle. But we’ll be touring on this into next year, so that’s a good stretch. Then we’ll do the next LCD record and tour on that, so I’ll be … 42 by the end of that. So [laughing] … probably time to reassess everything about your life at that point?
And LCD is back together now, but is that forever or just for this record?
Well we can’t break up again. That’s the thing. Once you’ve retired once, you’re not allowed to do that again. So we’re officially back.

Sounds to me like 2021 festival season for LCD so if Hot Chip are going to be touring into next year.

Although, there's probably a good chance that James Murphy has been doing a good chunk of it behind the scenes already so maybe an outside bet for next summer?

EDIT: Threw on Amercian Dream for the first time in a long time on the back of this. "How Do You Sleep?" has to be up there with their absolute best songs. "Tonite", "Call the Police", "American Dream", "Oh Baby" and "Other Voices" are excellent too. Much stronger album than I remember, even if the double of "I Used To" and "Change Yr Mind" is weak.
