Donedeal (and selling anywhere, generally) has gone to the absolute dogs lately. Between no shows, “swap for x, y, z” and stupid ridiculous offers and requests to meet people half way across the country, your head will be wrecked.

IME it has gotten very bad in the last year or so

I suppose if you do be flipping cars like you do be doing tis a right pain.

How many cars have you flipped this year?

I lost count back in about March

Funnily enough I had my very first really positive experience on donedeal at the weekend despite it having all the haul marks of being a PITA.

Well, he was there pretty quickly, as promised if he stood beside the car and made an offer I'd deal with him, in he got and drive away very happy, as was I.

Yeah I actually had the same with a Mondeo today. Two weeks of stupid calls and texts and the usual, but a fella rang, asked for the address and an hour later he handed over the cash and drove home.

You should get into selling Sandero Accesses, or are they too new and high tech for you?

My sister in law is still getting great use out of the Focus DJL292 you sold her, I must put her onto you when you start bringing in the Sanderos :D

Mine was sold after 6 hours and only one stupid call 😋

    Did you sell the 19?

    No my BX.

I'm just in from fitting in a new rad in the 19. I really like it tbh. Very easy to work on, lovely to drive and a little different. I'm t tempted to sort the body work but I'm at a point now where I'll never get my money back when it comes to selling it if I spend any more. Still, it's a cheap car.

Yes but I've just bought it to pass on to a friend of mine as he is busy at work. It's a phase 1 R19 cabriolet.

New land Rover defender now launched

New Defender looks cool and appears to have dual range transmission (so trying to stay traditional ).

Reliability the big question mark - we know that LR can make a car be good off road AND on road these days .

Their reliability has tended to be woeful.

Land Rover pricing has gone off the charts, a fancy new Defender will prob be pushing 100k here. Disco prices are mad and the Disco sport is horrible.

Not seeing many new full fat Range Rovers here at the moment, they must be over 150k by now.

The new Defender does look pretty good though.

    Clearly a mistake.
I think mines only ever went down twice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,427 ✭✭✭Dartz

Last time mine went down it was a mistake!

Anyway, the RX has been sitting a lot more than usual. Took thge time to get it properly washed with a few blast-downs from the Karcher and run over with some polish.

It's not ageing well at all at all. The doors are aluminium - and they're corroding. There's rust on the sills - under hammerrite. There's rust on a wheelarch under a body repair. Rust-spots on stone chips. The rot has definitely set in.

Debating sanding some of the patchwork back to steel and giving it a quick spray with halfords gloss black. But - he asks - what if there's no steel left?

Purchased my first BMW - 520d m sport, first automatic and first RWD, loving how well finished it is

Does anybody know if bimmercode allows for turning the auto stop/start function off and the auto hold on automatically?

In my F30 I use BimmerCode and BimmerLink a lot. BimmerCode does allow for toggling of the stop/start function. You can set it to default off very easily.

Took me a while to not press that "off" button every time I got into the car although once you select sport mode it goes off anyway. It's only on if you are in either Comfort or EcoPro mode.

I'm not sure about the auto hill hold as I never went near it myself.

There's a LOT more you can do with BimmerCode and BimmerLink is invaluable when it comes to the DPF. It shows you how much build up there is, what stage the auto regen is at (as in it counts and once it gets to stage 1 it regens). If you have a long motorway journey ahead of you you can request a regen. This will show the exhaust temp increase and you can watch the soot level drop as it does its thing.

The two apps cost a bit but they are very well worth it. Once you have it you can use it on different BMW cars that are supported (most are).

I wouldn't be setting the auto-hold on permanently (I would even doubt that you can). Incredibly useful function a lot of the time but there are other where you definitely wouldn't want it kicking in.

MM, I must get you to permanently disable my Stop / Start and permanently enable my tail lights for daytime driving next time you're in Da Shmoke. ;)

    Not a problem ;)

I have both done on mine. Another quite useful thing is for the lights under the door handles to come on when you put the car into reverse.

Can you code in ' blinkt amber-licht in the direction you plan to turn mode' MM ?

    LOL :D

I can but it's the same coding as "this car will self destruct in T minus 5 seconds" :pac:

I heard you can code them to front wheel drive for the snow too is this true?

Speaking of coding and that. Will OBD Eleven let me do stuff to my Octavia like enable cornering lights, traffic sign recognition (have front camera and AFL), rear DRLs, allow regular LEDs to be used for number plates, and dim DRL with indicator on?
I know there’s a basic version and a pro version, not sure which one I need and if it’ll do all the stuff I want.

I've no experience of OBD Eleven but i did traffic sign recognition on the Golf took a bit of messing around but got it working grand.

Not sure about the Octavia but on the Golfs there are two types of front camera, one does basica light assit dims main beams when there is oncoming traffic - the other type does the full dynamic light assist which keeps the main beams on and cuts out the part that would normally dazzle oncoming traffic, cars with this camera will also have lane assist.

If you want me to do any coding with VCDS give me a shout.

I think you need the pro version for any coding. And someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure all those things can be coded too. I did read you need lane assist which has a colour camera for the traffic signs.

I only have the basic camera. I’m not bothered by the sign thing, I have it on the nav anyway but it’d be a nice novelty.
I’m up your way every few weeks so maybe we can arrange something - thanks.

Thanks for the response! Bimmerlink only appears to be available for ios devices which is a dose, I'll look to get the adapter and use bimmercode for the auto-stop/start function.

I'll probably try get the auto-hold to engage on startup - perhaps I won't always need it but I'd prefer to have it on, and turn it off than the other way around.
