I can't remember who it was, but somebody posted a video from the 'Mad4Motors' YouTube page recently and I've become inspired. Going to do some bumper work tomorrow. If I don't followup with pics, you know it was a disaster!

Was going to view this the weekend until I looked a bit more into it and learned that it's really a 318d :(

Both engines are identical as far as I remember, 318d has a more conservative tune is all.

De-tuned by 37 bhp. It's the exact one I want, alloys and colour etc but I'd always regret going for the less powerful one.

Not just software, the 320d has a larger turbo, intercooler and injectors over the 318d. If you still like the car then consider getting the 318d remapped which would give similar bhp/torque to the 320d. Just remember though that these engines are known for timing chain problems.

It's been ages since I worked on these you very well might be right mate. Yeah, timing chain is/was a notorious issue on early e90s

Got my car tax renewal yesterday. Licensing Authority is Limerick City and County Council.

I work near the tax office in Cork so I am wondering can I tax it in the tax office in Cork or do I have to tax it in a Limerick Tax Office.

    Tax online.

It has to be in the area of your address.

Well the Civic has gone to its new home. ‘First to see will buy’ actually happened this time. Didn’t even advertise it. Happy days. Best of luck to its new owner.

Similar commute to me, where do you live? School traffic has added about 10 mins to my journey which isn't too bad, but it can be worse especially when its raining.

Kilkenny. For me the early start helps if I was going 30 mins later traffic might be more of an issue.

Driving this evening and a car was at a Junction ahead I quickly recognized it my old 2007 Golf Mk5 sold it April 2015 to a guy and his girlfriend looks like they still have the Golf and are still together. Still looks quite clean for its age also. Seeing it gave me this happy feeling nice that the guy got such good service from it. Funny how I have done a full circle and am back in a golf 5 cars later.

Then 10 minutes later I Kerbed an alloy so that ruined that happy mood I was in. So between that and now having to buy a new tyre to replace a brand new tyre with 3 k km on it because of a stupid screw it’s not been a great motoring week in the golf unfortunately.

Ah being honest I am done with expensive flashy cars the GTI is the last of them. Kind of comes to a point where you have to draw a line. I know a lot of people who went through the whole of their 20's, 30's, 40's throwing serious money at cars and now have little to show for it at best a decent car. I am 25 now and have spent more than enough on them and changed cars way too often.

Filled the car with petrol at a circle k today, and noticed that the sticker on the pump said it was 97 octane. I thought we only have 95 octane in Ireland?

Got a pic this week. Anyobody know any more about this? Probably just a mistake and me being hopelessly optimistic? :( It's at the Circle K in Ennis.

It's obviously a mistake. As I said last time it is mentioned no where on Circle-K's website. They have 95 unleaded miles plus.

Actually, just found the answer on the German number plates thread! Strange coincidence.

Folks, quick question. I've had a chap ring me from NI looking to take a look at the old E46. What's the procedure if you sell to someone from the North? I have had a Google and 99% of hits talk about importing to ROI, despite me typing exporting to NI.

I done it once but the guy I sold it to done all that stuff. I just gave him the Registration cert blank and let him sort it out. He was a decent guy as he did do all that part as I checked up on change of vehicle ownership and it was changed,

Sorry I was no help to you with your query but even if it goes pair shape just go into the local peace commissioner and say you sold a car and that the new owners never changed vehicle ownership and they sort it out.

Cheers. I eventually found a query on the same thing about 10 years ago. It recommended to do up a receipt and take a pic, just as s backup, but pretty much hand over the reg cert. There is no official form for informing Shannon, but you can send a communication saying you've exported it.

Was thinking of going to see the Cannonball all week kept changing my mind. But was in work today and finished at 4pm and was 20 minutes the right direction for Edenderry so decided to go. Was actually very good to be at the finish line serious crowd. The cars were a good hour late which was a pain but other than that was good.

I have never been to Edenderry before but the roads are pure crap out that way.

Which roads were you on? You should see the roads I travel mostly on. Bumps and dips and twists. I do think about what Noccy_Mondy used to say when I'm driving on them about how some road he travels on daily ruined his suspension.

Well I went backroads from Portarlington to Edenderry roads were R400 and R441 they were fairly bumpy to say the least.

Donedeal (and selling anywhere, generally) has gone to the absolute dogs lately. Between no shows, “swap for x, y, z” and stupid ridiculous offers and requests to meet people half way across the country, your head will be wrecked.

IME it has gotten very bad in the last year or so

Yeah, had that as well yesterday, a chap who loved the car but needed me to drive to Donegal to deliver. At the price point I kinda expect it, but the sooner it moves on, the better.

The 401 is actually the better road into Edenderry from that side, you should try the bog road from ra'hangan :D:P
