Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi all, best of luck to all those who have applied. Nothing we can do now. Some of the assessments I found easy enough but others were very difficult.
I’m still trying to figure the exact structure of this cadet program. So you basically don’t have to pay anything and in fact they give you an allowance during the training period? And I guess the catch is you have to stay with them for 5 years or so on a reduced salary?

Alternatively, you could pay 80-100k with one of the flight training schools and do all the training yourself. And then still have to find the find a job at the end of it? But likely on a higher salary that you would get through the Aer Lingus cadet program?

Any thoughts or comments on the above appreciated.

    Hello!

As I’m a first time applicant, I don’t know the ins and outs of the Programme or how it works. The reduced salary would make sense but look at it this way -
You’re trained by an airline with an incredible reputation, you’re saving €100k+, guaranteed a job. You’d probably be on a reduced salary until the bond is paid after the necessary years worked. So it’s all good.

I’ve heard the allowance is €200 a month but accommodation/ food is paid for (I could be wrong). Your entire training is paid for as long as you work for the agreed period of time afterwards otherwise you pay Aer Lingus back.

I’m not entirely sure on the other Q’s you asked or even on the above, just what I’ve read online. Best of luck!

I think the bond to be paid if you leave aer lingus before a defined period had expired (don't know if it's 5 years) is a set payment reducing each year served, the annual salary isn't reduced, the cost of training their new pilot is borne wholly by the airline and only charged to the pilot if he leaves before serving x years

You will be paying back from day 1, after line training, by virtue of a capped salary for three years...

Doubt it. They aren't going to hire you if you cant pass the tests ahead of 99% of the others.
They are however definitely trying to attract female candidates.

There did seem to be a big push to encourage the number of female candidates, which is a good thing. I think they mentioned that in previous years female candidates accounted for something like 5 or 8% if memory serves me correct. But I really hope they don't have gender quotas to fill. They didn't say if there are quotas, but if the level of female candidates is that low and it ends up being anywhere close to 50% of successful candidates being selected are female, then I think that would say a lot - unless of course the level of top female candidate is much better than for males, which maybe it is.

Having said that, for those of us men who don't get selected, it'll likely be more to do with the huge level of competition rather than any favour towards female candidates.

It was 6 weeks after the closing date last year from reading threads about it so I guess the week after next. Also seemed to be by phone if you were successful in getting to the assessment center.

Well hopefully within the next couple of weeks we will hear something! Thanks for clearing up the timeframe!

Big congratulations to you!!! Well done and thank you for letting us know, so we can all sit around anxiously waiting! Lol. Hopefully I (and others here) will be joining you.

Also can I ask, did you receive an email too yet or has it only been the phone call?

Only a phone call so far. She said she'd follow-up with a mail, but it'll probably come this evening after the phone calls are complete.

Great! Well, I’ll just go find my charger and sit anxiously for the next 4 business hours and hope for the best lol. Amazing news for you, congratulations again.

Any info given on when the next stage is?

    And of course, congrats.

Congratulations to all that have gotten good news today!

Reading Pprune there people have been getting rejection emails throughout the day so its not a mass rejection email

Hold tight everyone as we're in for another few days of constantly holding our phones....

  • Registered Users Posts: 72 ✭✭DustPan12

I received the dreaded email! :(

Oh well, hopefully there will be another chance next year and I’ll have an idea of what to expect. Absolute best of luck to everybody still waiting! And congratulations to those that heard good news! :)

What dates were people offered for assessment?

  • Registered Users Posts: 58 ✭✭gav4321

Still received nothing (no email or call). It seems bizarre that they have emailed some people rejection emails, and lots of people still heard nothing.
Surely the logical thing to do is call the 250ppl or so that will be called for interview and once everybody is confirmed, then send out the rejection email.

In the same boat here - have never checked my spam folder as much!
I'd say with the sheer volume of applicants they are probably sending out the rejection mails in batches so as to not overwhelm their mail servers. Seems they went out across the day yesterday.

Just a general Q that I’m wondering now that I’ve received my rejection for this year. I was expecting it if I’m honest. But in the future I will know what to expect with the process.. but does anybody know if the FPP is an annual Programme? I’m aware it has been around for quite a few years with breaks between but seems the past 2-3 years running it’s been an annual Programme.

Also, I’m sure more calls/ emails will be going out over the next week or so.. with previous volumes of applicants, there isn’t a possibility of sending out thousands of emails at once as their entire system would crash. Best of luck to those still waiting!!

Same as. Still hopeful though - imagine calls will still be ongoing tomorrow, today’s only the 3rd day of calls, takes them a long time. Bear in mind last year people got called weeks after (even 1 month I saw somebody).

    No email is good news!

Hi there . I didn't apply but my brother did . He got an email off then saying to call them back as he's stateside and missed the call however the phone number they gave him isn't working . Any other way of contacting them ? Called head office and there no help on this matter . Just worried he may lose his place ( if he has got it)
    Cheers

Same here.... wonder how they've split up the batches for the mails/calls. Looking at last year calls took a week but some people got no call or email for weeks as they were in the reserve pool

    Keep positive :)

He would have gotten an email address in the assessment process that could be used to contact the HR team

    Exactly...

For anyone wondering, I seem to have been one of the first get the call and my surname begins with B - Maybe they're sending the emails and making the calls in alphabetical order?

I’m S here... was wondering if it was based on application number either. I applied about 2 weeks before the closing date

I bloody hope not or I’m fecked!

Last year I think this was debunked though that it wasn’t alphabetical.

I applied just before the closing date and I'm "W" and I've heard nothing, but one of my buddies who's "N" has heard back and another one of his friends has heard back but I've no idea what their last name begins with. Both of them didn't get it.

Just a note to those waiting. Last year I didn't get an email until 3months later, when the course was already well under way so potentially you could be waiting a while, unless it's good news of course :)

Seriously... the wait must have been terrible until the assessment centres were over
Hopefully its not the same this year
