For anyone who wasn't assigned a specific department on the day, did ye hear since where you got?

I was contacted last week to say that I was assigned to An Garda Siochana. On they day of the interview I was told that jobs are coming up all the time due to retirement and movement within departments do not to worry, that if oh were successful on the day then something would come up soon. There’s just a lot of moving parts to wait on.

I was contacted on friday to say I'd been placed within the public appointments service, no news of a start date just yet though. Not exactly where I was hoping for but willing to give it a go, hope everyone hears soon :)

Yes i was originally assigned to the NSSO on the day of the Interview. Before the interview, they emailed me the confirm of time/date of the interview, and also say they are try to fill the 300 jobs blah blah, some in the NSSO, if i were interested work in the NSSO, email them back to express the interest in work there which i did. Then last week, they changed the dept. I remember last year, my boss of Dept of Foreign Affairs, wanted me to stay and extension the contract and they email to PAS. But TCO systems. My contract were expired last Oct. Im happy go back, people are great and friendly. Im itchy to start! 😀

Afternoon everybody. Was wondering if anybody on this forum has been assigned to the Guards. I had my interview the end of March and was successful. I have gone through the vetting process for myself and last month had to send Names and DOB of everyone I have lived with. Does anybody know how much longer I will have to wait to start my job. It seems to be a very long process. Thanks for the help.

I think the vetting for the guards is taking more than 16 weeks at the moment so I'd say you will have another couple of months wait.

I'm also waiting and was advised that it takes a minimum of 12 weeks. My cousin went through the same process and said it took 17 weeks for them.

I was hoping it will be a little sooner but I guess we will just have to wait a little longer

    Hey all,

Had an interview today, was offered a job 10 minutes after interview. Was in mid morning. Interviews for TCO and CO were going on. Based on the interview and application form. Taking people over 590 for today. A lot of current TCOs successful in CO competition.Interview a bit tougher than expected. Just updating as I have been keeping an eye on this post.

Any idea how far down they will go for interviews? I only scored 450 wonder should I give up or is there still a chance I'd be called

Need a bit of advice. JUST in case there are more interviews given out.... does hair colour matter? My hair is bright blue... and I wanna know if that will hurt my chances... might be a stupid question BUT I wanted to ask anyway to be doubly sure haha

Anybody know if its possible to swap with somebody. Got offered permanent position in Dublin but would like Longford /Westmeath ideally.

There's an internal system for swapping jobs at the same grade. You need to be past your probation and then ask to go on the list. The waiting list can be up to 10 years if you are trying to swap out of Dublin, everyone wants to get out of Dublin right now and not many people want to swap into Dublin.
The pay is too low if you're moving to Dublin with rent. I'd still do it though because they're isn't much work where I am.

Got an interview for the trade federation turns out it's going to be shift work, and I don't drive so I assume I'm damned if I take the job or damned if I don't. I have about three more months on my TCO contract with a possibility of extension but no promises.
    :/

Tell them in the department you're in that you passed the interview, if you like it there they might give you the permanency. Worth a shot
