I for one have certainly changed my tune regarding the owners in the last 12-18 months.

Only the last 12-18 months? For me when they recruited Klopp (and the manner in which they did it, under the noses of everyone) I knew then FSG were great owners to have.

But even before that they had pedigree of investing in teams that were sleeping giants - John Henry bought the Boston Red Sox in 2002 when they were on the floor financially and hadn't won a World Series in 86 years. Two years later they had finally won it and since then they have won it a further 3 times under his ownership.

The parallels with the Red Sox and Liverpool are uncanny, Henry is a sports fan who spots a sleeping giant, buys it for cheap and then invests until the trophies come thus multiplying his original investment several fold. He bought the Red Sox for $300m in 2002 and now its worth $3.3bn. He bought Liverpool for £300m and now its said to be worth circa £1.7bn. His modus operandi is to win trophies because he knows the fan base will explode and thus his investment rockets. We couldn't ask for better owners imo, especially after the nightmare that was Hicks and Gillett.

we should all give thanks we got the good yanks and not the Manchester or Arsenal ones
It was surprising to see Sturridge single them out in his goodbye. I've always liked Henry. He has a surprising grasp of twitter for an oap and was great in the movie Moneyball.

Being heavily linked with Nicolas Pepe today.

Utd are bad enough that they might be able to start James in 25 - 30 games next season. We won’t be able to do that and would probably have to loan him out for his development.

Nothing Utd are going to do this summer is really relevant for us tbh, they’re at a different level right now.

The first transfer we’ll make will just be announced. The days of our business being leaked is in the past.

Now - the you tube craic begins - he looks class - and 35 goals in 74 games

22 goals last season and 11 assists

In the past you would have seen this as a player we go after and a bigger club gets.

Will be interesting how the next phase of signings go. We will probably have to spend about 80 million - for a player who won’t always start eek.png

If this kind of stuff transpires we are back back, Always a fearful doubt in my mind after 20 years + of hard times in league - even after a European win biggrin.png

It will probably take me years to get over them crap 10 million + signings we made from around 2007 on.

Liverpool are exiting a fairly perfect moment - I'm sure the owners are perfectly happy with the efficient way klopp has spent money. A couple flops at this next level can be poison as we have seen at united. It also creates a significant upward pressure on wages (as we have seen with VVD)

If you were just a business man with no heart – perfect time to sell pool ?

Our biggest transfer of the summer is not having to deal with Eden Hazard anymore.

Yep, decent but overrated player but always seemed to up his game against us.

I'd like Pepe. He's fast, good dribbler, scores goals, strong and is the perfect competition for salah been left footed.

Van Dijk & De Ligt art centre back for Holland. Gini starting too. No pool players starting for England.

Mad that most of those players reached the pinnacle of their careers on Saturday night and they’re straight back into action 5 days later. Barely get to enjoy it.

Hazard is way more than decent, serious delusion there tbh, he'd easily get in to our first XI, do you not remember that time he gave our captain fantastic the run around? For doing that alone he needs to be special.

Ox taking the number 15 jersey for next season.

Hopefully he has better luck with injuries that the last owner of that number.

Genuinely don't think it'll be a problem for him but basing this on nothing more than the fact that he's our centre half, he's our number 4, watch him defend and we watch him score, he'll pass the ball calm as you like, he's Virgil Van Dijk, he's Virgil Van Dijk.

I'd have approved of Daniel James to Liverpool....two years ago. We're eating at the Captain's table now, not by the loo doors.

Looks like he's definitely gone to United anyway

United have stolen our clothes .

They can have him, we are targeting CL level players .

    Not Swansea.

Memphis Depay reminding us all why he is playing in France and never for Liverpool.

Perfect time to sell is when the asset is at / near it's peak value.

Considering the effort spent to build the squad so far, the average age of the team, the 3 years remaining on Klopp's contract, the fact we have only won 1 major trophy in recent times with potentially more to come, the expansion of the global brand into emerging markets, the attraction of the English product over that of it's European neighbours... It wouldn't exactly take a Lord Sugar to choose "stick" rather than "twist".

    Not that simple .

    Wages increasing
    Brexit uncertainty

Yes unlikely to sell . But currently valued 5 times his investment.

Not a bad few years work.

How could anyone be sure of anymore silverware.

Would you go away, Hazard has been one of the best players in the premiership in recent times.

You've overlooked the TV and related income, there is still plenty of scope for enrichment there.

How. Current deal fairly massive and we couldn't hope for more coverage . Unless we get to CL final again.

Even the most optimistic pool fan would think a 3rd CL final in a row is probably about 20/1

Have to disagree there, we're nailed on to win it again next year, who can stop us?

We won't rule anything out. But absolutely a nightmare of a tournament.

Didn't mean that specifically - the whole shebang. The UEFA rights income
will explode again in 2021 - new format will almost certainly happen and SKY UK will want to get the rights back from BT. The likes of Amazon and Discovery might also be seriously interested

A purely risk-averse heartless businessman probably wouldn't be buying a football club in the first place. The fact he still owns Red Sox after 16 years is the clearest indicator of what interests Henry, more of an empire builder than a flipper.
Not being a Lord Sugar myself I have no idea what impact a nebulous, unfathomable, yet to be manifested "Brexit" type concern would have on the global commodity of football brands, but for now I can only see personal health or family issues being a trigger for a sale.

Probably got a bit too far away from football.
I know it is global now. But there is no doubt if the British economy tanks . Football will hardly keep afloat.
