Only the last 12-18 months? For me when they recruited Klopp (and the manner in which they did it, under the noses of everyone) I knew then FSG were great owners to have.

But even before that they had pedigree of investing in teams that were sleeping giants - John Henry bought the Boston Red Sox in 2002 when they were on the floor financially and hadn't won a World Series in 86 years. Two years later they had finally won it and since then they have won it a further 3 times under his ownership.

The parallels with the Red Sox and Liverpool are uncanny, Henry is a sports fan who spots a sleeping giant, buys it for cheap and then invests until the trophies come thus multiplying his original investment several fold. He bought the Red Sox for $300m in 2002 and now its worth $3.3bn. He bought Liverpool for £300m and now its said to be worth circa £1.7bn. His modus operandi is to win trophies because he knows the fan base will explode and thus his investment rockets. We couldn't ask for better owners imo, especially after the nightmare that was Hicks and Gillett.

It was surprising to see Sturridge single them out in his goodbye. I've always liked Henry. He has a surprising grasp of twitter for an oap and was great in the movie Moneyball.

Utd are bad enough that they might be able to start James in 25 - 30 games next season. We won’t be able to do that and would probably have to loan him out for his development.

Nothing Utd are going to do this summer is really relevant for us tbh, they’re at a different level right now.

Liverpool are exiting a fairly perfect moment - I'm sure the owners are perfectly happy with the efficient way klopp has spent money. A couple flops at this next level can be poison as we have seen at united. It also creates a significant upward pressure on wages (as we have seen with VVD)

Genuinely don't think it'll be a problem for him but basing this on nothing more than the fact that he's our centre half, he's our number 4, watch him defend and we watch him score, he'll pass the ball calm as you like, he's Virgil Van Dijk, he's Virgil Van Dijk.

Didn't mean that specifically - the whole shebang. The UEFA rights income
will explode again in 2021 - new format will almost certainly happen and SKY UK will want to get the rights back from BT. The likes of Amazon and Discovery might also be seriously interested

A purely risk-averse heartless businessman probably wouldn't be buying a football club in the first place. The fact he still owns Red Sox after 16 years is the clearest indicator of what interests Henry, more of an empire builder than a flipper.
Not being a Lord Sugar myself I have no idea what impact a nebulous, unfathomable, yet to be manifested "Brexit" type concern would have on the global commodity of football brands, but for now I can only see personal health or family issues being a trigger for a sale.

I know it is global now. But there is no doubt if the British economy tanks . Football will hardly keep afloat.
