Such a shame they compressed it so much.

A full series building up to the battle of winterfell would have been great - instead it was almost insignificant, midseries.

The lead in to the battle of Kings Landing should have been a full series, with Cersei showing some of the cunning she'd previously shown instead of standing around making grim faces. Dany turning would have been a great series ending before a final series where Northern rebels tried to fight back against the capital.

Unfortunately the tv series outgrew the story. The cast and team would have had to give another 6 or 7 years of their lives, so they had to rush it through

Wait, so they wrapped this up early for Star Wars? FFS, could HBO not throw money at them?

I’m really disappointed it’s finished and wast as disappointed with this series as others but that’s a load of bollox. I wish I didn’t ask TBH. Was just saying to my wife we’ve been watching this for nearly a decade and took for granted it was gonna get another season.

I binged watched breaking bad so didn’t feel the loss of that show like this.

I wouldn't disappoint yourself, the Star Wars thing is nearly definitely crap. Yes, they are writing the new trilogy but it isn't planned to come out until December 2022 and a few extra episodes in season 8 would have made little impact in the work they're doing for that.

****ing awful. Jon Snow banished after all he's done.

Bran on the throne - WTF? Spends years telling people he's not Bran Stark anymore. Yet he's now Bran the Broken.

Now that i think of it, why did the Wildlings wait for Jon Snow to arrive at Castle Black before they decided to go home?

They had no way of knowing he survived, no way of knowing that he was exiled to The Wall and most importantly, no reason to wait for him to show up.

I think I’m just really disappointed the show is no more. Maybe it’s cause I’ve gotten little sleep last few nights with my youngest getting into our bed and keeping me awake but I’m really gutted this is finished.

The prequel and others will be along shortly. HBO for now own all rights to the series and thers a lot more to tell.

Were they written with the original writer ?

Saw a montage of characters from that Ice Ice baby parody , there really was a ridiculous amount of quality characters and brilliant casting throughout the show. Hopefully they can replicate it for them.

What an embarrassment of a final episode.

Honestly you've raised entirely valid points on all counts. I agree whole heartedly in fact, and it would be difficult to refute any individual points, but I just somewhat enjoyed the finale.

Not because it was brilliant, good, even decent, but because it at least made some lick of sense compared to the **** fest that was most of the season and managed to give a facade of dignity to characters previously shat upon (Tyrion specifically).

It is what it is. Given the season as a whole, I truly expected a "Dexter" ending.

We didn't get that, and I'm just entirely grateful for that alone. Expect nothing, and you can't be disappointed, as they say.

Sad state of affairs I would agree when it comes to Game of Thrones.

Looking retrospectively at the entire season, if it wasn't so rushed, and if the spectacle had been fleshed out with supporting dialogue in the several hours robbed from this season's runtime, it may even have been satisfying.

    We'll never know now.

Is he not just escorting them North as work is quiet enough at Castle Black at the moment? Just passing the time until the next batch of scumbags arrive to rebuild the wall. They don't really need to train fighters anymore.
There's literally no men of the Night's Watch left and there never will be a new Watch as there is no danger of the NK returning. Bran knew what he was doing. He couldn't let Jon go, or the Unsullied and Dothraki would start a war. He couldn't kill Jon or the North would start a war. He sent Jon North because he knew he would feel at home there. Like most things this season, it was badly done because for a start, there is no way Grey Worm would've let Jon and Tyrion live after Jon killed Dany but if I put aside the shoddy storytelling, Jon ended up where he should be. He's with the Wildlings who respect him and couldn't give a toss that he was a bastard or the rightful heir to a throne and they will never expect him to play the Game of Thrones.

Yara has nothing to bargain with.
That's a good point...... for now. Balon Greyjoy never had a powerful house but he still rebelled when he thought he had a chance. Yara could reach out to Dorne and try to start a rebellion against the Broken King. The history of Westeros has thought us that just because this is the end of this story, it's not the end of people plotting and planning against each other in the pursuit of power. The game never ends.

Who said they're waiting? They had few horses and lots of children. Probably took them a while to get up to the Wall and might have taken a break there before setting out, maybe waiting for the worst of winter to pass before setting off.

Mother of Jesus...there’s more chemistry in a soggy cream cracker than in Snow and Blondie’s romance..

Ah people need to get over themselves.
It was a series finale of a fantasy series. The time for in depth story telling has long passed. It was all about wrapping up story lines and closing the series out.
I thought it did its job.

Everyone knew Dany was going to be killed. Jon Snow was favourite to do it.
I read a lot of fan theories that said Bran would become King. So it certainly didnt come as a surprise to some people. In fact it makes perfect sense to make him King. He has the memories of everyone that ever lived so he has endless wisdom.

As series finales of acclaimed TV Programmes go, its a long way off The Sopranos diabolical cut to black.
    Just look how you started

    and ended this post!:D

He's actually been worse in this season; absolutely woeful the last few episodes.

He has a few dazed expressions he works in. Bran, young as he is, has something off-camera he's always distracted by, just above his head.

I reckon Arya will get a spin off,

JRRM wrote a short story about a female explorer who discovered a new land in the GOT's universe. It wasn't explicitly stated it was Arya, but it was certainly heavily implied...I see if i can find it, because i definitely read it...

But they already lived North of the Wall so they are well used to winter, that's literally where it comes from.

They took a break that was conviently long enough for Jon to leave Winterfell, assist in taking Kings Landing, commit treason,be imprisoned for weeks (months?) for treason, be partially exonerated and banished and finally make his way to castle black just in time?

Nonsense. It's just more of the "this thing has to happen despite being utterly ridiculous" thinking that the hacks writing this garbage have been doing all season.

Children mashing their action figures together.

"Wouldn't it be cool if........?!?" is a terrible way of writing a TV show or movie.

I really didn't like the jump from when Daenaerys was killed to the part when Brann was declared king. Felt like there was a huge amount left out.

Why the **** didn't Greyworm kill Jon? Made no sense

Can't be asking those kind of questions. Sure the the crazed screaming scythe wielding Dothraki and the sequentially weapon banging Unsullied were seething at the teeth at the steps during her new Queen speech, nuts for war and killing! But sure they just forgave Jon after following Daenerys through hell and back. Then they decided to ask random Lords around the Kingdoms to decide who should rule. They even looked pally as Jon walked along the dock towards his boat, Jon Snow just one of the lads.

But wait, Greyworm gave him a dirty look before he left! That's that sorted so. Oh, and he told Tyrion being hand wasn't enough justice! Then nothing, off sails Greyworm.

    Shíte of the highest order.

The best finale for me was probably Six Feet Under.

If he could show some range, there might be.

    "U ah mah Queen."

    "I dun wannit."

    "Ah luv u Danay"

I swear that was 90% of his dialogue this season with the same pained expression all the time.

    Jesus christ that was awful..

Basically what did the Starks get in their Christmas stocking this year.

    Brutal.

Just watching some recaps. When Missandi shouted "dracoreos", was she advising Danny to burn the whole city?

Also, Jon had to be exiled. By returning him to the Nightwatch, he can't have any kids, thus ending the line. This also draws attention away from the true nature of who he really is: a Targaryan but now a Queenslayer.

Dany never appealed to me before but she looked ridiculously hot in this season, maybe it's because she was actually expressing some emotion and a bit sweaty etc at times!
(When I say never appealed obviously IRL I'd never get anywhere near a girl as hot as Emilia Clarke!)

So Jaime and Cersei could have stood LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE and not died:confused:

What a load of absolute nonsense. The worst ending that the show could have had. I feel cheated by this pile of manure.

Why send Jon to the nights watch? No need for it any more. Grey worm and the lads are gone so no need to placate them.

Sansa didn't stand up for Jon once.

    Daynarys killed too easily.
Bron then suddenly at the end . Why the whole cross bow stuff.

The more I think of it the more it annoys me
