I might go back to finish off those challenges and go for 100% but I moved onto God of War now, time to see what the other game of the year has going for it

Just finished the story, and have to say I really enjoyed it. Poorly enough paced, but I’m that’s a hard thing to control in an open world game.

Cool wee thing in the end credits when I recognised
    Josh Homme’s
voice on Cruel, Cruel World. Didn’t know he done a song for RDR2!

Bought a paper after the story finished and thought it was good how they mention a character you meet in the 1st game

Took a long time for the game to click with me but this is really a fantastic game. I’m just taking it easy with the missions and concentrating on getting all the legendary animals/fish.

One last trophy left until platinum and of course it's Gold Rush. Gonna take my time with that one.

Just did the update and it said you have a gift from rockstar, but I didn’t register until too late so didn’t see what I got, does anyone know?

I think the biggest problem with the gold medal challenges is not the actual challenges or the fact that the game reduces you to the bare essentials regardless of what you achieved at the time. It's the long, tedious horse riding before each and every challenge that you can't skip which nearly every mission starts with. When you fail you just want to get back into it but the game forces you to listen to long winded horse journey conversations over and over again so that by the time you get back into the challenge the momentum is gone.

And after recovering the relic for Rain falls in under 1 minute and 30 seconds without being spotted that completes the Gold Rush trophy and thus my platinum for Red Dead Redemption 2!!!

Did it on replay btw because in the end I really could not be bothered to grind for the Legend of the East satchel and do all the challenges again just to have max inventory and stats.

Tips for those looking to get the Gold Rush trophy:
    • The easiest chapters for gold medal is epilogue 1, chapter 2, chapter 4 and chapter 3 and in that exact order. You should be able to get gold for about 99% of the epilogue, if not 100% like I did.
    • The easiest missions are the optional honour ones so if you have them do those first. Especially the ones with the nun and the Romeo and Juliet couple from the feuding families.
    • The easiest challenges are "do not consume health items" and time limit objectives (with the exception of one*). Time limit objectives are very easy to cheese. For instance, when riding the crappy replay horse you need not necessarily take the path that's been given to get to your objective. You also have some stuff to feed him in your horse wheel.
    • Restarting a checkpoint instantly fails accuracy, time limit and "don't take health items" objectives which means you will have to abandon the mission and start again from the progress tab.
    • When you fail an objective don't abandon the mission right away... Let it play out so that you know what to expect next time. This is especially important for time limit missions.
    • If you're doing this on replay avoid any mission that requires you to head shot more than 5 enemies using dead eye, for instance 'Pouring Forth Oil IV' in chapter 2. You'll just run out of dead eye even if you do it in short bursts. You can get the dead eye back by doing real time head shots...that's if your gang members don't steal your kills which they often do. Of course, YMMV on that. I never managed to get anything better than silver because of that objective.
    • The Litchfield and Lancaster repeaters are your friends. Use them when you can. Litchfield is great for distance while still being reasonably fast, Lancaster for pure speed and ease of use.
    • I'm not 100% sure about this as I didn't test it but upgrade all your weapons. The replays give you the weapons it's going to give you but I think they include your customisations. The reason I say this is because I customised my weapons in a way that made them visually distinctive so I recognised when I was using my weapons. Ammo given is always regular though.
    • Lastly, have patience. No, the challenges are not "fun" At all. Yes, you will fail about 5 to 7 times and yes, you will be forced to sit through long unskippable glorified cut scenes just to get to the actual part you need. If a challenge is taking too long to accomplish, try another mission and then come back to it for your own sanity.

    * Do not do 'Honour Amongst Thieves'. Time limit objective is impossible.

^ Well done on getting platinum for RDR2.

Trelawney wouldn't look out of place in BioShock.

Well I finished Chapter 6 and the epilogue.
Damn, what a way to go. And the horse too! Bobbert no. Boah. :(

86.7% complete. All I have left are the collectibles, challenges and legendary animals.
Will probably go for the legendary animals and call it a day.
Then will begin the arsing around, exploration portion of play.

    Loved it start to finish.

So I saw someone hanging from a tree outside Saint Denis. When I look down 3 lads wearing corspe paint were standing in front me. I killed before I could react.

Later on I helped a couple not far from the encounter. The husband mentioned the "Night Men".

I haven't anyone like the other 3 since, same guys he was talking about?

Yup. They'll run at you and kill you every time if youre not quick. They pop up in that area at night. Sometimes carrying bodies.

Easily the best game on current gen consoles, havent put it down since i got it and no other game has caught my interest. They really nailed the setting of turn of the century America. Currently going for platinum, will be a pain grinding out that cash for the 5 horses in online with the amount of griefers.

Pity no DLC for this. Would hve loved a couple of extra missions

I finished last week finally. A bit of a grind for me in the end. Too many very long cut scenes. I have zero interest in playing it again.

I returned to God of War and can't believe how good the story is. I'd rate it better than RDR2.

No bank heists is a let down.

I agree with this completely. Though for me the game was a bit of a grind from the get go, the controls, the pacing, the absolutely horrible gunplay; it all added to the "immersion" supposedly, but for me it took all the fun out of the game and that's primarily why I play games.

In all honesty throughout the course of my playthrough I went from thinking the game was mediocre, to flat out hating everything about it in the end. I only finished it because I had already invested so much time in it, and I actually never bothered with the epilogue.

Playing Days Gone at the moment, and for all its flaws, I think it does a far better job at being a video game than RDR2 ever managed.

I meant online similar to GTAV.

I meant online similar to GTAV.

So heists rather than bank robberies missions in general.

restarted this again after initially dropping off it, I reckoned it would be a shame to not finish it considering all the work that's gone into it. I'm glad I gave it a second chance, chipping away at a mission or two an evening. I don't think I'm particularly far, I've just
Rescued mary lintons brother from the cult with the turtle on their jumpers
and my next available mission is
    to rescue Micah
    .

The deliberately slow pace is something that takes getting accustomed to, everything, from shopping to doing chores around the camp, is ponderously drawn out.

I really hated it. The first game is probably my favourite game but I just found the majority of 2 tedious and I gained very little from finishing it.

I don't think I'll be getting into any of the crafting etc unless it becomes absolutely needed.

Also - where do you access your journal? I keep getting a notification saying that your journal has been updated, but I cant find any way to access it?
