    €570 tax though.
    Still, at asking price, it's not bad, and ever so slightly cheaper than a pre 08 on tax too!

    I was never really a fan of those C-Class' but theres something about nice examples (like the above) that I like. I'd have no problem believing that mileage from the photos alone; original overcast are a good sign, as well as the arm rest on the driver's doorcard and a few other things such as the condition of the boot and the seats. Of course, a good valet can do wonders for a tired interior but in the case of that Merc I wouldn't be overly skeptical.

    Ring up the seller and see what kind of history he has. Even old NCT certs can be a good indicator.

    Yeah, but did you see what's parked in front of the C-Class? :D:D

    E60 523i M Sport with NCT to 11/19 and taxed to 07/19. Body has a few marks and it needs a hoover but this was a near 70k car new.

    Worth a look at €1800

    Exactly. He's looking for big money for it though, although it looks very clean

    1k a year is not that bad tbh.

    A lot of car for the money and taxed for next three months anyway.

    It's a lot to be fair but I suppose it depends on viewpoint as well. Personally I'd rather pay a grand's tax on a cheap car that I liked and wanted to drive everyday, As opposed to buying some nondescript hatch that I dread taking down the M50 :D

    Plus if the BMW checked out to be decent and a good deal was had, it's kinda depreciation proof for a while

    2009 Insignia 1.9 CDTI;
    190K KM;
    NCT 02/2020;
    Annual motor tax €390 p.a.
    Asking €2,000 and open to offers

    would rather see a service history on this one.

    What's the story with these early insignia's? There cheap as chips for a great looking car. I've heard stuff about the early ones but talk is cheap & there's plenty around. Please remove if I've gone too much off topic!

    Look and see there is often diesels going cheap in need of new engine. Known problem, like the BXE engine in the VW/Audi.

    So if I was interested, what years should I avoid or is problem still there?

    Yeah, but old Corolla prices are mad and that one looks a smashing example.

    I was only saying to E30i this morning, I'll look back on photos of mine in a few years time and think "jaysus...I sold that for €600"

    Mark my words!!

    If you don't try you never know what people will pay for something, easy to drop the price if no one bites.

    On the merc, it looks very clean inside, despite it being valeted to the max. No scuf marks or broken bits on show. It's petrol, so should be economic enough to repair, if not so economic to run.

    I don't like that he's photoed it wet. Can't really tell conditions of the paint as a result. It's had a lot of recent work done, with no fresh NCT. It's clock is only in MPH, so it it ex UK.

    All in all I think it's a nice, genuine enough car for it's age.

    M32 gearbox and faulty seal in oil supply system.

    First is fixable with semi-resonable money if not let to collapse (1-1,5k), while the other is simple, but labour intensive fix. But it does not give symptoms (GM on purpose disabled the oil pressure warning) until it's too late bar new engine.

    The hardest thing about driving a Mk1 Insignia would be having to be an selfish, inconsiderate, roadhog 24/7.

    Tested till Feb 2020 and taxed till October (worth nearly €400), 2 owners, history, and a modest 98k miles.

    I don't like these enough to say that €1500 is a bargain, but its certainly not bad given the tax

    nice but I think it's overpriced, imo you don't get back the value of low miles or paid tax, there are cheaper examples out there mostly with higher mileage but some without, if be tempted though with the nct and tax though.

    Elegant looking car indeed and they’re great fun on a summers day but by God the 318 is terribly underpowered.

    I tend to pick up an e46 cab every summer, enjoy it briefly and flog it whole the sun is still out. The 318 is the one to have because they sell easy, but if I was buying one to keep it’d need to be a 6 pot and I’d say the same to anyone that may be in the market

    I'd prefer to be getting for a little closer to €1k and the lack of leather seats lets it down a little, but a very nice car nonetheless.

    Asking €1,650

    €1850. Low milage, seems like a good deal. Thinking about picking one of these up myself. Heard the suspension can be a bit stiff. Anyone have any experience with these cars?

    I toyed around with buying a convertible from that era a few years ago. And while that's a fine example of the BMW 3 series, the audi A4 1.8T equivalent has aged much better, with lots of them on the market. Almost had a bargain immaculate one bought, except i couldn't get insurance under 4000euro for occasional use 2nd car! I was tempted to buy it in the wifes name and drive it on my own policy 3rd party, but i thought that was too risky.
