Where's all this "madness" we were promised?

Shure the whole set up of this carayzee show is that people ring in and talk about anything that takes their fancy *

    ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN !!!!!

    It's mad Ted !!!

    * so long as Ciara can crowbar in references to herself and her family anecdotes. Such lol's.

    :(

It's supposed to be unscripted but she gave a list of subjects before the news and surprise surprise these are the subjects under discussion.

For the love of God. Do you think anyone interested in discussing a topic waits until 12:00 to send it in?

I expect they get suggestions any time thorough out the week when she would say what is coming up on Friday. Is that not what anyone would do? Text it then when it's in their mind rather than waiting?

Unscripted - the Friday show is the same as all of the others. Unscripted should mean throw the phonelines open and take all calls as they come and have someone on hand to cut the call if anybody gets out of hand.

And 30c per text for a lot of suggestions that get ignored because we got told the actual agenda before the news. Goons all over the country texting in what "THEY WANTED TO TALK ABOUT , AND ALL THAT GOOD STUFF. " But , no, We'll be talking about what Ciara wants to talk about.

that's hardly practical, though. What's the host to talk about at 12 midday?

Same happens on Liveline and any other phone-in show.

On a typical broadcast, a host will have their schedule marked down to the minute, with little flexibility and plenty of notes, all timed to coincide with news and ad breaks.

I think the 'unscripted' title largely refers to the fact that the host has no notes to refer back to, as would happen in a typical show where they're supplied with talking points.

I know that the show on Friday is unscripted because I actually found a script from one of the Mon-Thu shows.

"H-h-h-h-hello, this is (*NOT doctor any more, so as to appear like your gal pal) Ciara K-k-k-k-k-elly, C-c-c-c-c-coming up on the show.
Gender quotas for using the TV remote, I-I-I-I-I-I think it's a great idea,
but I-I-I-I wanna know what you think *Try to say this line like you actually mean it*
    T-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-t-thankzzzzz"

Even the much maligned Alison Spittle managed it on "Nowhere Fast" - you stick on a record and wait for the first call.

I think the problem is that she makes the Friday show out to be a roller coaster ride that can go anywhere. Anything can happen. The reality is that it is obviously pretty well scripted. The only difference I see between the Friday show & the rest of the week is they don't have a studio guest. Also some of the most moronic topics covered.

I didn't hear yesterdays show but I heard the promo about where has Irelands stash of iodine tablets gone? Jasus talking about flogging a dead horse. 2002 We got Iodine tablets posted to every home in the country. They went out of date in 2005. There never was a large stash of these tablets in the first place. This is one of yesterdays hot topics. Tablets that were given out 17 years ago. Tune in next when when we ask where is the millennium clock gone & what ever happened to the electronic voting machines.

A roller coaster ride it is not

Was listening to the repeats on Newstalk last night and heard the segment about pregnant women smoking. I don't think I've ever heard a more obnoxious, hectoring approach adopted by a presenter in the 20 or so years I've been listening to talk radio. The poor chap on the phone had barely said a few words when she was yelling at him, accusing him of wanting to control women's bodies etc. etc.. Completely unprofessional on her part, and laughable that someone so intolerant of opposing opinions is presenting a current affairs programme. All is forgiven, George!!

Did the Leaving cert, applied for a place in college and was granted a place given points achieved in Leaving.
Attended college, passed all exams, did placement work and graduated as a Medical Dr.

Pretty sure that is how it works.

Very quiet here today. I thought all hell would break lose over suggestion for banning Michael Jacksons music from the airways.
