TBH, I have no issue with being stopped at all. Have everything in order before I go out. No issue with the neighbour ringing them either. As you say, I am delighted that the Gardaí are making themselves seen in rural areas.
Unfortunately, as was said on the programme there are "groups of individuals" who have made it necessary.
Have a friend in the Club who shot 168 foxes in 2015. Last year he shot 14.

He has now gone IR and has 12 in the last month (only has the IR that long)

Any idea as to what kind of IR he is using.

Nail on the head^^^ It’s like anything in this country when it comes to money every greedy Tom dick and harry will take advantage of the situation

If the political will was there to solve this then here is an idea:

Make it mandatory that the Game Dealer take 20% withholding tax off every carcass that he has to pay for.

You must have a PPS number of whoever is dropping them in before you pay them.

Similar to relevant contracts tax the Returns are made by the game dealer each month.

Revenue/social welfare can follow up then on who exactly is lobbing 12 or 13 carcasses a night/week over the counter.

    Cut the messing...

I think that he said he could see them out to about 175-200m clearly but beyond that they are less obvious and are more likely to be just "shapes". This guy is very experienced so I would guess that he is better than most to determine if the "shape" is a fox or not.
Next time I meet him I'll ask him for a clearer assessment

That is a good distance. I see they have a dedicated NV unit now rather than an add on unit. I wonder which is the better. With a lot of these NV units you have to add on an IR torch which makes them heavy and bulky.

Are most of these, cannot say all of them with 100% confidence, not being done already.

To sell carcasses you must provide name, address, PPS number, etc. All income is subject to taxation, and people on welfare will be or more accurately could be subject to the same checks and docking/deduction in their payments if the income is above a certain threshold.

I'll take a look and see if i can find the site i read this on and post it here.

If it is the case of them being in place then it's one of two things:
    1. No enforcement of the above
    2. Under the table dealings or straight to end user selling (bypassing game dealer)
