If the councils wanted to build they could raise their own funding locally with LPT, rates etc and they dont do that.

The government doesnt need to be involved.

yes, however people cannot afford to be paying any more lpd on top of the already high cost of living. i also believe business rates are very high as it is .

    That would be some crack.

FG could announce in the morning that they are forcing the increase of the LPT to fund local councils to build council houses for local people.

The socialists will whinge daily to the Irish Times over homelessness but they will take to the f-ing barricades to keep LPT low :pac::pac::pac:

I wish I had a euro for every person who came on here to complain that the government should fund construction....... But when asked to help fund it themselves through LPT etc they say "aaawwww hold on now a second I cant afford to do that" :D

fair point however as i said, many people genuinely cannot afford to be paying any more charges and taxes. get the high cost of living down and perhapse we may be able to afford to do so.

You are losing the run of yourself, my friend.

What you seem to want is a bunch of folks (Germany) working their holes off to support a bunch of churns (Greece) to live high on the hogs back without any effort.

Did you see how that worked out, pal?

Did you take in what was the cause?

Duddnt seem to have gotten the message bro.

What's the point of having of a housing minister if he cannot minster over any housing issues?
It was said by you that LPT should fund it, there are plenty of other ways to fund housing like the Nordic model but some FFG fanboys here don't want taxes raised. They want taxes to be lowered where socialist policies like funding the Gardai, the prisons, the courts, the fire brigade, the army, the navy, the air corps, the health, education, national infrastructure would be cut and collapse society.

Where did I say I want taxes lowered?

The education and health systems require enormous capital investments at the minute. They shouldnt have to compete with housing for funds.

This is what's wrong with Joe public.

He's looking for tax breaks in budgets, more money in his pocket, yet at the same time moaning about a creaking health service, stretched education system and a housing crisis.

If we were genuine about wanting these solved, we would be accepting of tax increases if anything.

It’s not Joe Public NI, it’s Mick Crusty.

Joe Public is well aware the to get more you have to put in more.

Joe Public is on the books, Ashton Gate know his activities. No escape

Joe Public can balance the books, stay inside the envelope, pay his way.

Mick Crusty on the other hand likes to ‘call’ for everything, knowing he won’t be caught for the cost.

Mick Crusty likes to operate off the bukes, screw the state and contribute nothing.Mick doesn’t want his name known in Ashton Gate

Operating outside the envelope is Mick Crustys m.o. tipping around, doing this and that, you know yersell, the dissabilithy an stuff, the card, yknow yersell.

And all the time berating the Gubbermint for being a shower of “greedy kernts” who do nothing for de wuuuuurrki g class.

    Don’t get me going

Gradually. The taxation system needs to be fixed so middle and higher income earners pay more like in Scandi countries. Before readers vent in fury, they should realise that they actually get more back in return and end up saving thousands in the long run. Childcare is a classic example, only 100 quid a month per child in Sweden yet up to 1,200 a month per child here in Ireland. Why say no to that system when it benefits everyone??

Like the left did with property taxes?

They opposed a tax on wealth once they realised they'd also have to pay their fair share.

i'd doubt it was only people on the left who opposed property tax.

It wasn't, but there is a delicious irony about the left opposing a tax on wealth.

As per usual, the idea is that taxes are great, so long as only everyone else has to pay them.
