Some good work there. Didn't expect the Botha signing. He has been a good siginng but I thought he was almost certainly a 1 year deal covering until others returned/came through.

Is there anyone notable whose contract is up but wasn't announced? Keatley, I presume? DOC2?

I'm delighted to see those contract extensions and happy that JJ got that vote of confidence.

It's an interesting one, Keatley and Bleyendaal both signed two year contract extensions towards the end of 2017, so they're contracted up until next season.

Could see both be released, with Carbery, JJ and Johnston retained.

Presume Matthewson will move on in March. Hart likely to be gone at end of season. So Williams could stay on potentially.

Botha's retention is likely with the World Cup in mind. POM and Stander will be absent and Botha plays 6 and 8. DOC2 is likely gone.

If we could I'd try to hold on to Alby instead of DW. Looks like it could be the death knell for Keatley and Blyendaal.

But then again the luck of Duncan could strike by the end of the season if munster suffers any injuries to the 9 jersey. Murray, McCarthy and Cronin should be enough

Yeah, figured as much. Would have liked to see Oliver, JOD, TOD and Cloete cover though for that period with Jack O'Sullivan getting a run at some point. I was hugely impressed with him at U20 level.

Botha is a great option to have, however. Just not sure if it's the best use of a NIQ spot.

That's a good bit of business, and good to get it out of the way.

I keep forgetting how young some of our established players are - Scannell at only 24? Good bones of a team there for years to come.

Who are the other NIQ players? Kleyn, Cloete, Mathewson, Taute, Keynan Knox?

Wonder will Kleyn becoming Irish eligible in September or Mathewson and/or Taute leaving would free up other NIQ spots? Not sure there's a demand and residency rules might make it less likely for players to move too..

Great to see so many crucial players retained and I’d imagine they’re not going to retain too many more of the players who are out of contract. I think the scrum half decision is dependent on whether they feel Stafford is good enough

I thought Stephen Fitzgerald was making progress but at 23 it’s probable time to move on for him and try give Nash more minutes.

The only thing that slightly surprises me is that I thought the IRFU would try move Rhys Marshall to Leinster, a position of weakness for them and strength for Munster. Kevin O’Byrne has shown a lot of talent to only be third choice

Kleyn is IQ in August. Mathewson and Taute are almost definitely gone. I don't think the two lads in the academy count.

Marshall is also still NIQ, but will qualify after the world cup.

Great news there, JJ is probably the right call to keep - I think Keats has had his shot, served us well but JJ can still improve, only 26. Apart from off the boot, his performances recently have been on the upward trajectory. Wonder what will happen with Tyler?

Looking forward to seeing Wycherley kick on, he's got that bit of dog about him that you want. Darren O'Shea, for a massive lump of a fella, just doesn't seem to have it at times.

Good to get the fatties tied down too, Scannell is arguably the next Irish hooker unless there's a dropoff in form.

Nice bonus with Botha staying til 2020. He's been massive for us this season - topping the season so far stats for Carries (24 clear of Rory Scannell), Tackles Made, Metres Made and Defenders Beaten (pretty astonishing for an 8). He's been immense. Surprised there hasn't been more of a fuss made of him, if he were putting in those performances in a blue jersey this place would be going bananas. We'd be mad not to try and keep him.

I'd imagine Sherry, Taute, ROM, Keats, DOC, Hart all gone. Not sure what'll happen with Tyler, Duncan and Fitzgerald

It's not a great choice as it's someone who can be good but can also be very bad and someone who's never really been good enough and more than likely won't be but he's a local boy.

D'oh forgot Marshall! Yeah l think Mathewson and Taute are likely gone. Is there another NIQ player in the academy? Thought it was just Knox.

There was another SA brought in at the time of Knox if I remember correctly, but I don't think academy players count towards NIQ spots.

    EDIT: Matt More.

    Ah yeah, think you're right.

Think the IRFU seems to be focusing more now on bringing in IQ players like Addison, Haley etc so not sure if we will be adding that much to NIQ spots.

Wow, they're keeping JJ. I thought he was a goner.
Disappointed for ROM, he's had a bad run with injury. I think he's a good player. DOC also has a injury plagued career. It will be interesting to see what happens with these lads.
Surprised that O'Connor hasn't been offered a contract. He's a lad with potential and can play the blindside.
Maybe another province can snap him up?

I see from todays injury update that Jeremy Loughman has been added to the Euro squad in place of James Cronin. Sounds pretty ominous for Cronin. The injury must be worse than first thought.

Just because they haven't signed contracts in early December doesn't mean that they're gone.

Its only December and early December at that. There will be plenty more players signed up who's contracts are up at end of season before long. Just wait until new year and even later. There has been players whove had contracts finishing at end of a season not knowing if theyve been signed or not until May before....

Cronin can be re-added as a designated front row player for the knockouts. If he wasn't a front row player it would be a more ominous sign.

Good for Loughman. He's stuck around and is making a go of it. A big step up though against Castres. Hopefully he goes well.
He was born in Reno. I wonder if he's good enough to be capped by the Eagles?

He'll be losing any chance of contract in Ireland if he did. Dont see any chance of it happening unless he was not staying for next contract in Ireland

    Quick question,

How long would you be waiting for tickets to arrive when ordered off Ticketmaster?
On there website it just gives you the worst case scenario, 7 to 10 days before the event

Usually get tickets for games through a friend but these ones are Xmas presents for my nephew

That team looks fairly spot on.

There seems to be a fair chunk of players injured so far this season. Hopefully will see some of them back in the new year

I'm aware of that, but if he's being removed for the rest of the group stages that means he's out for at least the next two months.
