So far better than Season 1 , but it suffers from the same thing I see in other series or movies. Its like people have forgotten how to right villains properly . everyone one must have there redeming features hidden way .I so far found the swapping of Mariah tone annoying its feels inconsistant like they never really knew what character they were building . Great actress under used. Shades (Theo Rossi) meh , feels at times im looking at the comic book page and then i see people moving around him .Slightly better this season but he seems to be outta his depth at acting in this . I like Comanche , good roll and he seems so add strenght in the scenes he is in and it helps those around him . Bushmaster is well played , but Its missing something the real fear . For the Marvel world here I keep going back to Vincent D'onofrio as king pin ...that was a master class both acting and just the underlying menace that he was/is . Luke Cage needs a King Pin but it is not Mariah Stone or Bushmaster

Mahershala Alis Cottonmouth was a top villain. It was a huge mistake killing him off in S1.

watchin this season and they mentioned Cottonmouth a few times ...couldnt remember what he looked like ..even forgot who played him ...the double down with two villians is what takes from this for me . I could remember Diamond Back and I didn't think he was good enough . Splitting the terror and fear across the two villains seems to dilute the end result for me .

I am probably not explaining myself very well . There is just something missing in Luke Cage for me . Really like the casting of the show I just falls short on plot or writing somewhere

Diamondback did get the best line in any Marvel/Netflix show though.

    "N***a, I am your brother."

He went down hill after that unfortunately :pac:

Bushmaster is a terrible name for a villain but he's very cool.

    The
    massacre at Gwen's
was dark, even by Netflix Marvel standards. Bushmaster's uncle was great in that scene. Chilling.

Still two episodes left, not without its faults but enjoying it so far. Better than season 1.

Well, when he woke up with two ladies in bed with him, I bet they could tell you why he's known as The bush master. ;)

    This too shall pass.

Man, I've never seen a show go completely off the rails in the way Luke Cage season 1 did. To the point where I'd wonder if the scriptwriting / production team got shuffled around midway through filming; Diamondback felt like he had walked on from another, slightly battier show - and not in a good way.

    Finally finished.
Nice happy ending with regards Mariah's fate.
I'm sure her total screen time this season is more than the title character.

Season overall was slow moving but was grand. And I hope
this is the Danny we get in Iron Fist season 2

I actually really enjoyed that. No diamondback nose dive that hurt the 1st.

Also good to see them pay tribute to Reg E. Cathey

I’m on season 2 episode 2 I forgot how bad Theo Rossi was in this, he wasn’t this bad of an actor in sons of anarchy

The scene where Mariah tells Tilda everything about the past,
    Wow. Just wow.

    This too shall pass.

Finished season 2 last night. Managed to break it up across 5 or 6 viewing sessions, max of 3 episodes at a time.

As mentioned already, the music is consistently brilliant. I'd love a double album of the songs from both seasons.

Big fan of Bushmaster as a villain. The guy has a great presence. I still like Shades too. Mariah is all over the place but she makes it believable.

Time well spent, in my opinion.

I agree that the music is outstanding it often completely kills the flow. The entire story grinds to a halt while we have a nice little listen.
Much of it flows into the shows but far too much is a pace killer

Better than season 1 but it's still a bit style over substance

It's funny, I actually liked the lazy pace of season 1, the live music interludes included. Definitely gave the show a unique style. This time around I'm feeling more impatient towards that same tone, dunno why. Maybe with the world, story and characters more established this time around I'm keen to get on with it, rather than spend time watching a band on stage.

I don't think that they melded the music as well, this season. I still liked the overall pace, just the jarring musical interludes

Just replace Luke with Bushmaster. He is much more entertaining, charisma-wise and in his powers and fighting style.

Season 2 really improved as it went on and the last episode was very good.
Season 3 can’t come quick enough it should be good with the change of power

Started season 2 late. So far the quality is much higher than the impression I got from reviews. Just on episode 6 and having my first google moment.

    So anyway...

    Rassclaat
    Bum Cloth

    Definition
your 'raas' is your bum, a 'claat' is a cloth. Toilet paper!

This is the actual meaning, but it is often used as an adjective when expressing disatisfication.

one would be comparing something to toilet paper, waste...

It might help to turn on subtitles. Some of the Jamaican dialect gets translated into more Oxford friendly English.

    This too shall pass.

They did originally. However, at some point - before I watched it - they became more of a direct copy of the Jamaican's words. I saw some posters on reddit confirm this when they looked back at previous episodes and the subtitles had been altered. I had wondered myself because I saw people complaining the subtitles weren't authentic enough but that's because I had been watching the updated versions.

I thought the Jamican was fine to understand, a few phrases but you get the meaning from the tone of the conversation.

Good. Boring show. Gloomy guts is too unhurtable and too gloomy.

Unless we see Heros for Hire this sounds more like Marvel consolidating for Disney streaming, or Netflix getting ahead of the inevitable

Edit, and after bothering to read the article it's Netflix pulling back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,106 ✭✭✭Unearthly

Feck sake. I didn't care about Iron Fist which is terrible but Luke Cage apart from 2nd half of first season is some of the best Netflix marvel stuff done.

I reckon it might be the latter. I did see some article this week that claimed the final say is with Netflix.

It was apparently cancelled because Marvel and Netflix " grew far apart over the past 48 hours due to “creative differences” and “rising tensions” over the direction of the show ".

Could this be Mavel & Disney deliberately acting tough in order to get control of their properties for their own streaming service? Will Jessica Jones and Daredevil be next?

Netflix has the final say but that doesn't mean Disney & Marvel weren't pushing for it.

That's disappointing; at this stage though if this is scaling back from Netflix, I'd prefer if they just came out and cancelled all the shows, instead of drawing this out.

With Daredevil season 3 only released, seems like a safe presumption that'll be the last season too. Who knows about Jessica Jones but again not a huge guess to imagine it's also gone.

Very disappointing indeed but if Marvel & Disney continue the shows on their own streaming service (and that it comes to Ireland) then no harm really done.
