McGinley has hit Monty levels of intolerable at this point

What was with the embargo on Casey and Hatton? Best golf and showing us nothing of them bar the odd putt.

Same yesterday. Showed very little of some pairings.

His brand of commentary is a cross-sport nuisance: never letting the sport speak for itself, hyping up everything, stating the bleeding obvious like it was a "molten bronze droplet of sporting wisdom", to paraphrase Billy Connolly. Mats Wilander in tennis is another classic case...

I'd take Davies all day over McGinley...even Henni...maybe

Poor coverage regarding missing shots. There aren't that many golfers out there!

Don't get the hate for McGinley, actually like him.

How come the Ryder cup is free to watch in the US but not Europe?

Just OTT in general. Talking a mile a minute, most of it complete platitudes. Golf is the sport least suited to that style of commentary, well maybe next to snooker.

LOL, anyone watching the highlights? Looks like Mark Roe popped into the studio on his way back from his lead role in an Off Broadway production of Boogie Nights!

Haha I thought the same. Very 70s in appearance.

I figure it was along the lines of Sean Penn in Carlitos Way....like an accountant for a mob boss.

    Watching BBC highlights

Poor Peter Allis showing his age - we may not enjoy him much more.

Laura Davies said today that one of the main reasons Dechambeau and Woods lost was because they "didn't look like they were enjoying themselves" whereas Molinari/Fleetwood "relished the challenge of the course a lot more and really enjoyed it".

What absolute rubbish, Fleetwood and Molinari played the better golf and hence they won the match. How are Woods and Dechambeau supposed to enjoy being 5 down through ten holes? Can you imagine if they were laughing and joking when 4 or 5 holes down? They'd be absolutely slated. Plus who's to say they didn't relish the challenge too?

Tripe like that from the commentators really brings the coverage down, with McGinley being the main culprit. I do find Davies fairly good for the most part and wouldn't mind hearing her at future tournaments. Plus she at least has a bit of pedigree as a player.

In fairness there is probably some merit to her point.

He looks totally disinterested which can't exactly help in a team event particularly when he's playing with a rookie who's probably intimidated enough by him already without him looking so glum.

He got an offer from CBS (or something like that) in America last year for decent money so joined them.

David Livingstone just announced this Ryder cup was his last event and he's retiring, not sure if this was common knowledge or not. Great presenter!

Common knowledge, was on the sky sports podcast last week and was pretty revealing about his career, was a good listen.

Thanks I must have a listen to that.
Thought he deserved a better send off but I presume it was his own choice

Great presenter. Will miss him. Wonder who'll be taking his spot. Nick Dougherty perhaps?

Nick has always been the anointed one there I’d say. Don’t particularly mind him too much either way, though I’d still have Rob Lee over him any day of the week.

Nah, they'll go for the quotas angle and give it to Sarah Stirk or Henni.
