I saw something on Facebook yesterday that said some people thought the finale was Islamophobic. I didn't read the details because I hadn't watched the finale yet. Now that I have, I'm rolling my eyes and shaking my head.

Yes, I've seen a few articles about the reveal of Nadia, where the writer is lambasting the show for its portrayal of Muslim women as subservient victims, and then in the same piece expressing outrage that Muslim women aren't all terrorists. Unbelievable. As if we can't work that out on our own.

They act like Islamic extremists don't exist.

It's a TV show, get over it, I say.

Exactly, the writers of the show couldn't win either way. It's a pity these so called journalists wouldn't write an article about real Jihadi women rather than lambasting a tv show's portrayal of them. That's an article I'd actually be interested in reading.

I thought the series fell off a cliff from about episode 3. That final episode was rubbish. Very disappointing end. Why would Nadia suddenly go all "it was me and now must take credit"?

Different level to Bodyguard imo. Way, way better.

Some other niggling issues... what was Budd’s plan going to meet Chanel? He knew the date was a setup, tucking a gun in your belt isn’t a plan.

How was the bomb that killed Julia set off? Don’t think it was ever cleared up. And why did Kim run towards the stage? Budd had just cleared the guy with the briefcase so no reason for suspicion. Just red herrings for the sake of it.

The black detective was hoping to get in Budd's pants.

How do you know someone hasn't watched any of Game of Thrones? They tell you

For those of you that thought the ending was a little too convenient, what if...
When Budd cuts the second wire, he actually dies, but what you see from that moment on are his dying thoughts, terminating with his driving off into the distance with his family.

They said the guy set off the bomb by walking on a pressure pad when he went to the side of the stage. From what we saw Kim didn’t know he’d been cleared as Budd didn’t tell anyone who or what he’d seen outside. He just said “false alarm”. Agreed on the date part though, that was stupid.

I was really enjoying it until the Home Sec was killed. Not that she was pivotal to the show's quality or anything but that moment marked the show's transition from a fairly realistic political / terrorism thriller to an increasingly nonsensical and less entertaining conspiracy mystery.

There are just too many stupid moments and convoluted plot developments in the final three episodes that make no sense at all, least of which is the notion that a potential suicide bomber would be allowed to walk the streets of London.

I suppose it was worth a watch and I wish it had continued in the same vain as the first three episodes but definitely not a patch on Line of Duty.

Yeah I guess but the organized crime folk had nothing to do with him being on the side of the stage. Nobody could’ve gone there all night or a cleaner could have stepped there before Julia even arrived at the event. Anyway I’m nitpicking but just think Mercurio throws out too many red herrings just for the sake of it and many of them go unexplained.

I liked it but it did unravel somewhat at the end where
Budd manages to slip through a group of armed police, disappear and infiltrate a secure building to confront Chantel
culminating in everything being all wrapped up. Could have done with another episode.

Was just looking at the ratings for this - after a consolidated 7 days it's on 14-15m which is amazing for anything outside a major England football game or a Royal wedding.

Bodyguard 2 in some shape or form can only be a matter of time.

I thought the Nadia situation may have been a reference to women travelling to Syria and that sort of thing. Second season, well, seemingly there were 36 million viewing requests on BBC iPlayer, so I'd count on it - Guardian.

This the Netflix trailer for the international market. Gives far too much away compared to how the BBC marketed it, imo.

    A Netflix original series?
That just popped up on the trailer.

Thought the first three episodes were good. After that it went downhill to idiotic land.
Man with bomb strapped to him in central london. Police allow him to walk a few miles through the city with the bomb still attached to him ??? Nonsense. He would have been shot dead in the park.
Can someone explain to me the point of Nadia being on the train in the first episode? Did she mean to blow up the train or get caught? Makes no sense given she's the expert bomb maker. So why get caught? Again, nonsensical.

I was very late to the game on this one, only finished watching it.

I too thought it started well but went a bit off on the last couple of episodes.

At the start of the last episode,
I thought it was heading the way of Arlington Road, where David would be blown up and they'd all think he was just a mad bomber.

I too thought it was silly to watch
a man walking through the narrow residential areas, with no evacuation of people living in these houses
    . That wouldn't happen.

And finally, did anyone else think that when Nadia was getting interviewed in the police station,
that she was going to reveal a suicide vest under her dress and blow everyone and the police station up?
    I did!!

    And when
David and his family were driving away at the end, that the car would be booby trapped?

    OK, so just me then!

So what was the story with Richard Longcross or whatever his name was?

They tried to make too many twists in this and it ended up not making any sense IMO.

He just wanted to get the compromising material back, that was it.

    I did!!

She had been in police custody for weeks. Where would she get a suicide vest from?

Bit of a plot hole with her giving away her whole plan for no reason.

Line of Duty is the same creator's masterpiece, first 4 seasons on Netflix.
