Cheers Andy for the picons. Here they are renamed for the other system.

    Thanks for that Gerry.
I,m new to E2 so I just copied the naming conventions that were in the picon pack that the "the high horse brigade" had in his image link , which was all lower case and no spaces when compared to the other virgin channel picon names.

I have no idea what the "other system" is or how you would work out the names.

@ andy they are worked out by Service name.

    YOu need to symlink them

Can someone explain in easy terms how to copy these over to the picon folder?

On another note has anyone used the wi fi facility on this box, I'm using the usb thingy I ordered from WOS with box and got it working but it keeps on loosing connection when I change from FTA to say a sports channel. Box is almost sitting on wi fi and speed test says its 30mb down and 28 up. Box recognised it immediately, did not load any drivers. its a 300Mbps wi fi n.

You mean an iptv sports channel?

by using oscam and how do i get those new picons to work?

If you have picons on the system hard drive then you need to connect to the box over your home network and copy the files to the picon folder.

You can see the hard drive in windows explorer under network if you have samba enabled on the Tiviar

To enable samba ....Menu>Setup>System ( scroll down, its the last option ) >Network>Cifs/Samba> enable in here.

In windows explorer under network you should see a TIVIARAPLUS
double click on this , you may have to enter your access details for the box.
You will see two folders, harddisk and root
    Open harddisk
You should see a picon folder
Open this and copy the files into it.

When that is complete, restart the Tiviar box.
    Menu>standby/restart

Picons for the new channels should be in place.

You can also do this through filezilla if you prefer.

Some have their picon folder on a USB stick instead, if so, then the instructions are similar , just copy to the USB stick folder instead.
Dont forget to restart the box.

It was my understanding that the use of a card to clear the eir sports channels transmitted via satellite required the use of a paired 'Sky box'.

By what means are the signals arriving at the Tiviar? ..... satellite?

Any details you can provide would be appreciated, thanks.
Either in this thread or PM as you wish.

He's using Oscam to legitimately card share it as he has a valid card. I had thought sky had stopped that but it's possible they made no changes affecting Eir Sport as they don't care. I didn't realise this was still available to card share

I have no idea how that works TBH, as I never ventured into that area.

Does the Sky card have to reside in and be paired with a Sky box for this to work?

No, Oscam was a well used emulation protocol, it's a server client setup but you can probably run both server and client on the Tiviar. You'll need to have a Google, there are plenty of guides on the sites

It was my understanding that such emulation was defeated/blocked by Sky requiring pairing of card to physical box.

I do not wish to get on the wrong side of the mods so I guess I should drop this line of questioning ;)

It's pity, because most of the info on line presumes the reader has a lot of the basics already, which I am lacking :)

I was also under the impression it was broken by Sky, it's news to me that it's still working for Eir Sport. But it makes sense, when sky first blocked all the HD channel card sharing they didn't bother blocking BT Sport HD which continued to clear.

If that were the case currently, then would not an eirsport card, taken from a Sky box where it was working, not also work in a non-Sky box with a card reader?
That used to be the case, but about a year ago it stopped working .... or at least that was my experience.

I would be interested to know if a card slot in an amiko mini combo would allow the box to receive the eir/bt channels?

I was thinking of getting a 2nd chromecast for the bedroom.

It seems the relevant swoofer posts have been deleted?

Ya I am not interested in illegal stuff.
My combo box does have a card reader so it would be very handy if I could match an eir card to the box.

I was tempted to get an old sky box but think I would prefer a chromecast first. My only worry is going over the 1tb download limit.

Sorry if I am dragging this thread off topic.

I certainly hope it won't be shut down.
On the other hand I don't know why it should be.
No one is mentioning receiving channels they are not entitled to receive.
We are eir customers who are entitled to receive the eir sports channels, via satellite or streamed or both.

In any case without further info from swoofer about his hardware and the fact that he only has SD channels, my suspicion is that he is not using a satellite receiver other than a SKy box.

You are in the wrong thread. Your Amiko box has propriety software none of the plugins or stuff mentioned in this thread will work on it

I know. I was just wondering if its card reader would decrypt the eir channels.

Lads this is a good thread on this box, go chat else where about the eir stuff or the thread will get closed.
Read the rules at top of the forum also.

Fwiw, getting a non Sky channel you legitimately have a card for working on another box is not really piracy, the card should work on any box.

Good news I got those PICONS to work so learnt something new. Lets keep this thread on topic' its too useful.

How is making use of a function of the box not relevant to this thread?

Is there a limit on the size of internal SATA hard drive you can instal, some sellers are offering 2TB options?

It takes a 2.5 inch Sata hard drive the same as you find in any laptop. These are available up to 2TB

ICDG mods this. He has a zero tolerance policy towards discussing usage of a legitimate card in a non legitimate receiver. And thats fine as I see the point.

In short, Sky didn't marry the cards to the box for all non Sky owned channels (as its not their channels nor in their interest), so it a possibility technically.

You wont get an answer on boards on any thread as to how to do it. Take it to PM. Any E2 box with a card reader can do it so dont get the Tiviar thread closed I think is the point that is being made.

With that info, the sub-subject is closed as far as I am concerned.
I was not asking how it could be done, only questioning whether it could be done or not.
    Thank you.

I am using the wireless dongle from WoS. I can see the Samba share, all right. However, when I try and transfer large files, or stream via the WebIf, I lose the connection. I can see from the router that it has disconnected, and my only option appears to be a network reboot. Any thoughts - I don’t have the background to troubleshoot this?
