She was offered a room than didn't have enough beds.

She could, crazy idea here, buy more beds?

I'm sure there's a grant for that. She'd be the expert now!

She'll be living in IKEA soon, surely there's enough room for her and her brood there.

It's a lost cause, but my solution of removing the entitlement for future claimants will stop this rubbish in a few years time.

I mean, what I really want is to remove all child benefits, put a lifetime max of 5 years SW payments for everyone, and remove the children from that woman. But I'll get flamed for that from the bearded lefties/
Not trying to be funny here but why do you think that? Places like boards and Reddit are predominantly left-leaning places and the majority consensus on these sites is similar (albeit much less extreme) to yours.

Nah, too far away from family, they'll have to build her an Ikea in tallaght. It's only fair like.

What’s your solution to this “problem” and how would it affect the children that they have?

the solution is a simple one. a pregnancy lasts for 9 months, so lets set a limit at 1 year.

announce now that from next august the benefits will change. cap the limit at two kids ( thats what the average worker can afford) and after that your on your own.

ie you get the benefits for child one and two but no more after that. the current families would be exempt as they made the choice to have kids under the current rules.

no one, ever, will be offered a four bedroom house. you want one, buy your own. if you have 19 kids and counting then fit them all in 3 bedrooms.

This will not solve the current crisis but will break the endless cycle of single mum, multiple kids, who then grow up into single mums with multiple kids.

Let's see how many would be having 6/7/8 kids after that law comes in.
I would suggest to cancel the CB all together. And put the money spent on CB to fund the free childcare.
Otherwise there is no incentive to work for most vulnerable.

regardless of social background and whether this is a staged photo, ultimately this family and many more are on the breadline/homeless, it's a serious problem and i have no doubt this family is indeed homeless. Why did she have so many kids, i do not know,  but a lot of the time this is due to social status, little money, little education, boredom even, the odd time it is due to a business going bust, i knew a family that were doing very well in the 90's and decided to expand, approx 3 years later they lost everything and ironically ended up living in the camper van the guy used to proudly display in his large driveway. nuts

either way the government needs to action homelessness and substance abuse issues in society.
She is on the housing list for 11 years, and the oldest of her 6 children is 11 y.o.

Part of that is not true.

The rest is whining - so it was Garda station or a short delay for transport ?

At what point will even the Paul Murphy's of these Boards wake up ?

It's a simple case people making excuses for her actions .

She was offered a property and offered transport to the property ,

    And she said No

She was offered the accommodation at 10pm at night. Transport had not yet been arranged for getting her and five of the six children that were with her to the place in Meath. So she already had a further delay for transport and to arrange one of the kids to be dropped off elsewhere, before she arranges for Harvey Norman to be specially opened for her to buy a new bed. And then she has to leave at 9am next morning, with her new bed, and go back to Focus Ireland and others looking for accommodation for the next night.
Why did she need a new bed ? Surely her kids could share beds ?

ironically i'd be more afraid of saying what i really think on twitter where i'd be crucified by a virtue-signalling leftie with 5000 followers than i am on here. does that put me in the middle ground, i dunno..

Returning to the question of should we be expecting councils to have accommodation for 7 children available at the drop of a hat?

It is my understanding that she was only offered accommodation for 5 of the 6 children, she was not allowed bring more as the accommodation was not considered suitable for more.

How odd ! Many the night we had cousins over here with three in a single bed . None of them had the tiniest of bother with it . I looked after three cousins when my lot where small for a week and six kids slept in three beds
All six are still alive and survived it intact

So she brought them to a Garda station instead..Makes perfect sense.
I know what I'd do...Bring them all and give them a bed for the night regardless if I'm "allowed".

But that wouldn't fit into her plan/scam.

You'd think Pat would buy her a house, god knows he can afford it, how dare he speak about her story and not give her a free fully furnished house with sound proof walls and mirrors on the ceiling of the master bedroom.
