It'd be a great shame, they're a cracking team when you get down to the nuts and bolts of motor racing.

As an aside, I still feel Ron was right in what he concluded, in that unless you're a constructor, you aren't going to be winning titles anymore. The top two have it sewn up now, and I don't see that changing for a LONG time, if ever.

Apologies, I totally misread your post & thought you meant Red Bull would leave and focus on non F1 racing :o You reckon Porsche will become an engine supplier?

We shouldn't forget that if Sainz moves to the Red Bull seat, he'll have a better chance of race wins. Max has a habit of messing up his own races, so there's plenty of opportunity to keep your head down and get great results.

What are the engine rules for 21?

Basically the same only without MGU-H? Or k. As it seems that no other manufacturers will enter the teams push to keep the regulations at the moment, as so no development costs will be added.

Looks like the Independent had reported that Mansour Ojjeh has stepped down from McLaren, but story taken down now. Wonder if there is anything in it?
I guess silly season in full flow now

He has poor health so possibly true but a major shareholder regardless.

Myself and a few lads are arranging a trip to Silverstone for the GP next year. Camping and probably general admission tickets but we might go for stand tickets if they’re good value.

We want to book this month to get a better deal. Does anyone have any tips forgetting cheap tickets?

    Cheers.

If used bookf1 twice now with no issues.
But I doubt tickets are even available yet. Dates havnt been confirmed

The presale for next year started the day after the race for people who had tickets this year.

    That just from formula1.com?

    There is the clarification: http://www.f1i.com/news/313543-mclaren-rubbishes-misleading-report-mansour-ojjeh.html#.W2lGbMPc4g4.twitter
"An important part of this has been the decision of the McLaren Group to populate its operating subsidiary company boards with purely executive directors, rather than some non-executives, hence the various resignations. Mansour is simply one of those non-executive directors.

"However, the executive directors that have all decided to resign from the subsidiary company boards obviously remain as directors of the parent company, McLaren Group Limited.

Saw a suggestion this morning for Alonso to replace Roman at Haas.
Might not be a bad idea !

He drove for the Ferrari A team. Why would he want to drive for the Ferrari B team?

Because the A team won't take him back?
Like going out with your 10/10 ex girlfriend's 9/10 sister! :pac:

I think Alonso might be close to hanging up his race suit, and putting on a team principal and/or driver manager outfit.

    This too shall pass.

What would be the point? He's after one more title, that isn't happening at a non works team. I personally feel this is where he'll walk. The fact that McLaren were meeting with Ricciardo is quite telling imo, they know Fernando is about to walk.

Yes because career management and strategic planning (outside the car) are his strong points. :D

Alonso is a good driver but if that are the plans he might be better of driving McLaren at the back of the grid for couple more years.

Was this suggestion from a legitimate source? Or just a comment on another forum?

No chance he goes to Haas.

Alonso will only do a surprise swap to Ferrari/RedBull or stay with McLaren for the Indycar/LMP experience, if he stays in F1 at all.

I don't think he will stay, Indy seems like the calling now for him to get the triple crown.

Can't see Alonso doing that but maybe he might start his own team only maybe but probably highly unlikely.

That's not going to happen now anyway. Max is not leaving Red Bull anytime soon and Ricciardo has made his announcement. Ferrari are not going to take him back even if Kimi did retire.

I do not see why Mercedes would not want to have him. He can't be any worse than Hamilton who gives out to the team when something does not go his way too.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Because the A team would want nothing to do with him.
And the B team is quite possibly a better option than the team he is currently with.

Again though, to what end? He's not getting a title in a Haas. I can't imagine he's simply interested in podiums/wins, and even if he is, Haas still aren't there either.

    Put it this way
    If you were alonso,
Would you prefer to be moaning week in week out while struggling at the back of the pack
    OR
Jump in a pretty competitive car and race at the front end of the midfield cars with the chance of an occasional podium?

I know where I would prefer to be.

What, you mean getting the team docked all their constructors championship points at one race, and then fined $100m and thrown out of the championship altogether? Sure that's trivial compared to a driver complaining or questioning the team occasionally on the radio, isn't it?

Alonso to IndyCar is my bet, there will be no place for him at any of the front running F1 teams.
