with the chance of an occasional podium?

You have to understand who you're talking about here. I honestly don't think the chance of an occasional podium will interest the man. He's after one more title, so he can achieve his lifetime ambition, & then get out of the sport. I feel in his mind, there's very little between fighting at the back, and the chance of an occasional podium. This is the man who, when asked if he made the right decision jumping from Ferrari to McLaren, answered with "We shall see where Sebastian finishes the season. If he comes second, then for me, it will have been the right decision." (or words to that effect anyway)

    It's a title or nothing.

    Similar to Michael Schumacher saying
    "second is the first loser"
Or Kimi saying "First is the only important place, anywhere else is not important"

    Yet they both kept racing,
    I don't get your point.
A racer has it in his blood. Not what he thinks.
And we all can see where Alonsos Thoughts got him.

My point is he is better off battling with the midfields than moving out of the way to be lapped.
Anyone driver that doesnt think that way shouldnt be on the track

    But hey, That's just me.

You are probably right as you *seem* to know everything ;)

Yes on paper, but again, Fernando isn't in F1 to battle at the back or the middle. He's there, to win titles. Anything else in his mind, is sub par. So going from McLaren to Haas, in his eyes, serves no purpose. He wants a car that can consistently put him in the fight for wins. That's my point.
You are probably right as you *seem* to know everything ;)

Charming. God forbid someone has a differing idea these days without being attacked for it.

Just on Sky Sports News now that Force India agree a deal to exit administration

Some additional detail in this article, can't say I know any of the investors in the consortium apart from Stroll. Doesn't confirm anything about name changes yet either

Hopefully it works out and the team have have many more years of competitive racing.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

    There is my point
Are you saying Alonso would not be further up the leaderboard had he been in Romans car this season?
I reckon he would be right in there with the Bulls.

You seem to be misunderstanding me.

    And no attack was intended.

We now know that Baby Stroll will almost certainly occupy one of the seats at the to be rebranded Force India, the question now is does daddy Stroll bring Kubica with him or who gets the Williams seat.

    Force Canada
    Stroll GP

Stroll Canada maybe... rhymes a bit with their national anthem

Although to keep their championship money maybe the force india name would need to continue for a bit

This is a great outcome for kubica surely.
He is in favour with stroll camp so to go to a reasonably funded force India team with lance as team mates would give him solid points chance every time out.
Even if he doesn't move with stroll, can Williams really ignore him for the seat again?

Not so good for force India though, going from 2 solid drivers to one that's useless and one, who while very capable, is not as good as some of the alternatives that may be looking for a seat when the music stops

I'm abit behind ..but if Force Stroll is in effect , is it now or next season.

I assume it next season cause that would put Williams in money troubles next if stroll walked of now leaving the Liberty with the same problem ...one team about to fall away.

Does he own a company or anything? Calling an F1 team Stroll...

The deal has been agreed with the administrators but all the legal stuff still has to be confirmed. Probably 2 or 3 weeks before it's done. I assume his existing agreement with Williams is still valid as the contract likely covers the whole season.

I don't think he owns a company, his money came from investment in a number of different companies. He's got close links to plenty of fashion brands and other businesses. Regardless I don't think it will be called Stroll F1, it's a consortium of different owners. Not sure they can give brand identity to a consortium, it'll probably end up as Force One in the end

He has to end up in a race seat at one of the 2 teams.

I’d be surprised if he’s overlooked as he has proven even with his injuries he is still capable. He might get a season or 2 to finish his comeback story but nonetheless it would be great

How has he proven he’s capable?

He doesn’t have to get a race seat at all. He was tested by 2teams and they both decided not to give him a race seat.

Christian Horner told autosport that Alonso would not be a good fit for Red Bull. Said he tends to cause trouble wherever he goes. RB likely to continue to invest in youth

It’s a shame Alonso has spent so much of his career out of a top car, but the fact is he’s a trouble riser. He needs political power at his team do a team boss would be crazy to sign him as he’ll probably try to get rid of that team boss in favour of a boss of his choosing.

He might end up in team management and might be very good at it, but his driving career has been over for the last 4 years.

    Speaking of Christian Horner

No idea when this was recorded mind. Haven't listened to it myself yet.

    This too shall pass.

Why would one of these teams still employ him as a test driver then?

Why would one of these teams still employ him as a test driver then?

His expertise, same as why Kyvat is employed by Ferrari or diResta was for Williams. Or Gene/Badoer who were very long working as test driver for Ferrari, while realistically would have never driven again.

Why would one of these teams still employ him as a test driver then?

Mercedes employs Gutierrez as a simulator driver. Being employed in a test / reserve role doesn't mean the team believe the driver could realistically be in a race seat.

Didn’t they employ him so they could better study the effects that ignoring blue flags can have on races?

The difference here is Kubica had zero experience of the post 2014 hybrid cars so his expertise would be worth less in that regard.

Well we all know what happened to badoer in 2009
