Silly season is still in full swing as we all know with Williams and Sauber not having confirmed their line ups as yet.

What are people's opinions on the Halo and Alfa Romeo for 2018?

It'd be a great shame, they're a cracking team when you get down to the nuts and bolts of motor racing.

As an aside, I still feel Ron was right in what he concluded, in that unless you're a constructor, you aren't going to be winning titles anymore. The top two have it sewn up now, and I don't see that changing for a LONG time, if ever.

We shouldn't forget that if Sainz moves to the Red Bull seat, he'll have a better chance of race wins. Max has a habit of messing up his own races, so there's plenty of opportunity to keep your head down and get great results.

But I doubt tickets are even available yet. Dates havnt been confirmed

The presale for next year started the day after the race for people who had tickets this year.

I think Alonso might be close to hanging up his race suit, and putting on a team principal and/or driver manager outfit.

What would be the point? He's after one more title, that isn't happening at a non works team. I personally feel this is where he'll walk. The fact that McLaren were meeting with Ricciardo is quite telling imo, they know Fernando is about to walk.

Yes because career management and strategic planning (outside the car) are his strong points.

Alonso is a good driver but if that are the plans he might be better of driving McLaren at the back of the grid for couple more years.

Alonso will only do a surprise swap to Ferrari/RedBull or stay with McLaren for the Indycar/LMP experience, if he stays in F1 at all.

Can't see Alonso doing that but maybe he might start his own team only maybe but probably highly unlikely.

That's not going to happen now anyway. Max is not leaving Red Bull anytime soon and Ricciardo has made his announcement. Ferrari are not going to take him back even if Kimi did retire.

Because the A team would want nothing to do with him.
And the B team is quite possibly a better option than the team he is currently with.

Again though, to what end? He's not getting a title in a Haas. I can't imagine he's simply interested in podiums/wins, and even if he is, Haas still aren't there either.

Put it this way
If you were alonso,
Would you prefer to be moaning week in week out while struggling at the back of the pack
OR
Jump in a pretty competitive car and race at the front end of the midfield cars with the chance of an occasional podium?

I know where I would prefer to be.

What, you mean getting the team docked all their constructors championship points at one race, and then fined $100m and thrown out of the championship altogether? Sure that's trivial compared to a driver complaining or questioning the team occasionally on the radio, isn't it?

Alonso to IndyCar is my bet, there will be no place for him at any of the front running F1 teams.
