I'm curious how many people have voiced a snobby ridiculous opinion like this to someone who unbeknownst to them has one. That would crack me up...hasn't happened me so far but two thirds of my back is covered and I'd get great entertainment out of hearing something like the OP.

If someone has either a tribal tattoo on their upper arm or their name on the inside of their forearm there is a 98% chance they were working as a tradesman during the Tiger.

I totally get people getting tattoos for personal significance but the art aspect I'm not convinced about. Personal tastes change.

A nice effect is that you go blind for them when you have them. I don't even notice mine anymore and whenever I get asked about them I'm like "Oh yeah they are there...".

Also I was told during my whole teenage years that I'll grow out of wearing all black. Still wearing all black all day every day.

I think it is a good idea to work hard and be frugal. Tattoos are therefore out of the question. Besides, tattoos are a blemish on God`s creation.

    Hey OP,

I work in purchasing, my brother is a member of the Gardai, one of my sister's is a nurse and the other is in the forensic science field ( we're not allowed actually know what she does).

Two of us have a good few tattoos between us, the others don't.

What social circle do we come from?

PS. The 1950s called, they want there view on people with tattoos back ;D
    You got me there!

I have one tattoo and plans for more. My wife has four and she is an incredibly sexy woman. As for certain "classes", I went to a private secondary school and I have a tattoo, OP. What a shocker. My parents are also still together. What outdated notions.

I used work with an Israeli Jew , he had his grandmothers ID number tattooed on her inside forearm.
The old lady survived the Holocaust.
Aw man. I feel so bad now. I'll keep my mouth shut from now on.

My own sister has a tattoo. So I'm not saying that tattoos don't end up creeping into walks of life where they shouldn't be.

In my sister's case, she sort of rebelled against my mother's snobbery. So that explains it. I remember, at her wedding the tattoos on the back of her neck for everyone to see! I felt so embarrassed for her.

I have a pretty little tattoo. It's in a discreet location so only those who get to know me very, very, very well get to see it.

get your head out of the sand , with your 'Never going to be a CEO' [would'nt that be a pity] and your Social class , do you only think of people with Tattoo's as some sort of Scum , I have been into tattoo's for many years have met doctors, solicitors, a judge, nurses and maybe a ceo their all perfectly normal doing what they want in life and if they happen to like tattoos it's their choice. tattooing has come a long way since it was only criminals +thugs that had them. Try not to be so caught up in judging people on how they look and get on with your own life.
PS, i think most of those people i met 'SMOKED' as well . God it's shock'in what some people will do, I think i may have seen one of them drinking Beer.what next.?

Plus I don't think I will give a ****e what people will think when I am older, never mind now. That's just being insecure, if people want to pass judgement onto me in person I can only imagine how insecure they are about how they look.
    If I may...

NEVER look down on anybody unless you are helping them up.

I've 2 tattoos and I really love them. They both mean a lot to me.

Is this thread for real ?
I cannot believe that someone would judge another's abilities based on ink they have on their skin .
Most pathetic reasoning in the OPs post.
This has made me so angry , to think in this day and age someone can actually form an opinion on another person because of their preferences regarding tattoos .
Some people need to get a life seriously .

Hmm an anti tattoo thread following hot on the heels of an anti cyclist one. The frequency of them seems to be increasing too...

I do think in a few years the full sleeves will be the man bun of 2016..

And what is the story with women getting them on their thighs..

I have 3 tattoos and I don't regret any of them.
They're not so interesting as I'd deliberately introduce them as conversation material though.
    Each to their own..

A guy having a tattoo doesn't make him stronger. However, if you are fighting him, best to knock him out.

    You can't regret what's permanent.

We allowed some guy that was walking the streets in Limerick City, looking for a place to crash out, to stay in our house.

He had the number 13 tattooed on his forehead. He got it at a festival in England when out of it. It was to signify marijuana, the 13 letter of the alphabet.

I have a small tattoo and I'm proud of it.

People get tattoos for many different reasons. In my case it's a tribute to a family member who I was extremely close to who passed away very suddenly.

People who don't know the story behind the tattoo should not judge the person for getting it.
