You can watch a live stream of the IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland on the IIAF YouTube channel, along with archives of the previous days. Irish hurdler Derval O'Rourke is co-commentator.

Phenomenal stuff from both teams. The men's side obviously very lucky but you need it in the relay.

That women's team is something else though. Was looking at their SBs and there's only .3s between Gina Akpe-Moses and Molly Scott (a hurdler!). Amazing consistency.

Just watching it back. Adeleke pulled up after giving the baton away. Would be an awful shame for her if she missed the final because of it.

No, it was Molly Scott, Gina Akpe-Moses, Rhasidat Adeleke and Patience Jumbo-Gula. Neville was running in the 200m this evening.

She ran the 200m semi but didn’t qualify for the final

Looked like she hurt her hamstring. Was limping after the handoff.

Hope she’s ok for today, but we have a very strong sub in Ciara Neville to step in if not.

Fingers crossed they can medal today. What an opportunity.

Just watching Molly Scott in the hurdles there.

You can absolutely see why she's on the first leg of the relay. She's lightning quick off the start.

She came last in her semi, btw.

Seemed to lose her way on the 4th or 5th hurdle, but she’s an absolute powerhouse out of the blocks.

A sloppy last change I think cost us but silver is a phenomenal achievement, make no mistake.

Great job by Patience Jumbo-Gula to bring it back in as well.

Great race! Really good runs and smooth handoffs. Last handoff was a bit of a mess but Patience Jumbo Gula powered from fourth to second making up about 5 metres on the leader.

.06 outside the senior record, you would imagine that will go this summer. Add in the 2 healys and foster , I wouldnt like to pick that team.

Who does everyone pick? Gina is a shoe-in I think. I think you have to bring Patience despite her age because she's the third fastest Irish woman this year. Those 5 and Neville and it's the makings of a very strong team which hopefully can only get faster in the future.

What does everyone think of Molly Scott? I know she's hurdled all her life but her PB on the flat is not far off the rest of them and she's in the top 10 fastest in Ireland this year, which I think is very good considering the flat isn't her discipline.

Would a flat 100 or maybe even expanding to the 400 hurdles be a better suit for her long term?

Would think moving up is the last thing she should be doing.

Her strongest characteristics are her explosive power out of the blocks and her technical ability over the hurdles.

400mh for women is a less technical event (due to the height) and the longer distance would nullify that start.

As it stands her hurdle time is superior to her flat.

Some of the juniors might need a rest to be honest. Certainly the younger ones who ran Euro U18s.

Question: What was the selection criteria for these championships?

Looking at the results in some events and Ireland could have done well - Heptathlon and discus - any reason why these athletes were not selected?

For the u20 European championships last year, the selection policy said
"To achieve our High Performance vision of “more athletes wining on the world stage” Athletics Ireland has set the selection criteria and philosophy for the 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships, where an relay team/Individual(s) selected to compete, will be capable of obtaining a podium, top 8 (track events), top 12 (field events) finish. "

I haven't seen a similar policy for these championships

Kate O'Connor had the qualifying mark but has already had Commonwealths and College Championships this year so imagine didn't register expression of interest for this.

Have to say I’m surprised she didn’t target either this or Gyor last week, but she’s a junior for another 2 years so much more to come.

US collegiate commitments in May after Commonwealths in April. Would imagine it was that or Commonwealths to be honest.

Kate O'Connor is not at college in the US. She's just finished 5th year in secondary school in Dundalk. She's been injured since the Commonwealths.

Bit of a difference in sprinting, and only being part of the relay the second week. Also, she injured herself so one could argue it was not the right decision (not saying that is my opinion, just that it could be argued).

Sarah Healy running multiple middle distance races the week after running 3 races in Gyor would have been a poor call. She’ll be a junior in 2 years time.

Why must it be described as a mistake?

There is a certain risk involved every time someone steps on to a track. And it's not possible to be at competition peak for a long period.

With Healy, people (AAI? her? her coach? her parents?) obviously decided that two championships a week apart would be pushing it, given the distances she was running. They might have been wrong, maybe she could have run well at both.

With Adeleke, people (AAI? her? her coach? her parents? her relay teammates?) decided that she could do both. And maybe 9 times out of 10 she could have, but this time was the unlucky one. Or maybe something could have been changed in the preparation, or her recovery last week? Or maybe a long season eventually took its toll.

You did ask was there athletes that made the qualifying standard. I gave you the name of one athlete. Never said she should have competed at the under 20s World Championships.

Yes Moreland was born in 1998 and is too old.

I was thinking of Kate O'C and Niamh Fogarty who threw 49.31 and the qualifying standard is 48m

Sexton qualified for the 100m, and I'm sure there are others too.

Did O'Connor make the right decision in choosing the Commonwealths over these games, she may with a little bit of luck have got a medal in Finland.
