Looking at the primary focus of Schmidt is to add depth to the squad in as many positions as possible, the full back situation looks the least addressed. The previous back-ups to RK were Zebo and to a lesser extent Payne, both of whom are no longer in the reckoning.

I think it would be beneficial for Ireland if Larmour spends a lot of next season at full back for Leinster.

If Kearney broke his leg before a game, I'd imagine Conway would be the one to slot in right now. He has a couple of starts at 15 in the past year and I'm sure we'll see at least one more in November.

Good idea giving POM a run at 7. After our first choice 7, and the other 7, there's only three 7s left!

Best 7 - O'Brien, Followed by Leavy, Followed by VDF.

In International Rugby you never have your first 15, ever. Every 15 selected from now to world cup should include one little surprise even if everyone is fit. That's because otherwise we will just be an international side that are only good when we have our first 15,

In the modern game, I don't think there is much as a difference between the 6 and 7. In the old days you'd have Josh Kronfield coming outside the winger for the last pass - open side had to be fast.

Now, I think the skills for 6 and 7 are closer.
Given that Pocock and Hooper are in the Aus pack, O'Mahony's primary focus will have to be the breakdown.

I think Joe sees Conway in that position now. Has him starting a few games on the wing but around all the squads.

Is there anything to be said for TOH?

Anyone know where I can find broadcasting info? Trying to see who is showing it in America

The game is streaming on ESPN+. It's $4.99 per month for the channel, but you can get an initial 7 day free trial.

I don't think you need a subscription to an US TV provider to access it.

I think for anyone who has not featured in the Six Nations or this Summer Tour, only multiple injuries are going to allow them back in ahead of the World Cup. Sean O'Brien being the exception.

Possibly Ruddock as well given his versatility. Schmidt also seems a fan. He has a lot of catching up to do though.

    I endorse this wholeheartedly.

I was in the states for the Heineken Cup final.

Signed up for free trial. Watched the game in HD.

Cancelled my account the same day. Worked perfectly.

ESPN+ is also a phenominal service for 5 dollars a month for what you get.

I wish they'd offer something similar here

Looking forward to the game and hoping for a win

Nice way to celebrate it by going to Billy Joel in the Aviva later tomorrow night. Could mention it if we win

You're not only one going to that gig. Im working at it though.
We should win. I think we've shown more over past 2 weekends and can do enough to get the win

When he does 'We didnt start the fire' instead of singing 'Brooklyns got a winning team he will prob sing 'Ireland's got a winning team' for some cheers

Cronin is out. Scannell starts with Herring on the bench

Tough on Cronin today was his chance to cement his spot as 2nd choice, both Niall and Rob could over take him now.

Cronin is out , Scannell will start... rough on Cronin, but it's better for our chances imo

Ah poor Cronin - I'm a bit of a an of his.

I think Ireland should win, but I expect it to be tight.

Grade 1 hamstring injury, at least it’s not a bad injury and we have Scannell and Herring to cover.

Connacht's poor form this year has made it impossible for anyone staking a claim for an Ireland slot. Very hard to look good in a team that's going backwards.

Just look at the number of guys who were in the squad or on the fringes but are now completely out of the running - Bealham, Dillne(largely for other reasons), TOH, Matt Healy, Niyi, Buckley.

Morning all. I'm not especially confident without Ringrose in the side.

Hopefully Scannel will get to play more than 43 minutes this time. Bad descision to take him off so early last week.

Would anyone be aware of any channels in the US that this match would be broadcast? Cheers!

Got a feeling Ireland are just going to try and win ugly here.
